The place was pretty busy on a Saturday night. Despite booking well in advance we were given a small table in an annex/sunroom that had no ambiance compared with the main dining room. Our server was young and very sweet with limited knowledge of the menu. Our salads were okay, the pasta primavera was nothing like "normal". It should be a light and flavorful dish yet this was loaded with a sauce that had no redeeming features and overwhelmed the pasta. The chicken was old, dry and tasteless. The pork chop was good and very tender but not fully cooked so could not consume it all. The desert we ordered was great. Perhaps next time we will find other dishes we like better. read more

Great food. The filet melts in your mouth. Wife had pesto pasta dish and it was great as well. Live music on the weekends and we enjoyed watching the band after dinner. This place has been our go-to for date night the last 6 months! The menu is amazing, but it's not just great food. It's the aesthetic, the environment, but importantly the STAFF! Joel, usually find him behind the bar, has always made the best spicy bloody Mary's and any fun cocktail you can imagine. Not one of the waiting staff I could complain on. We went to enjoy some live music and have dinner at 1852. It's a very nice atmosphere and the food was good. Great place for date night. What we were not aware of or were told is that they charge extra if you share an item on the menu. I did not see anything on the menu or the server didn't mention it. To our suprise when we received our ticket there was a higher price on the wedge salad that we ordered then is posted on the menu. When I asked about this I was told it was a share charge. The wedge salad menu price is $14. but the charge on the ticket was $20. So they charged an extra $6 because we shared our salad. I find that excessive for a salad. They did bring it out on 2 plates but that was not requested. Be aware that they charge extra if you want to share with your date. Most restaurants will make you aware of an extra charge to share on their menu. You will usually see this in bigger cities and fine restaurants but don't expect this from a small town restaurant. The menu prices were also more in line with Dallas prices. read more

We ate at this establishment for my husband's birthday. We were seated promptly and given waters straightaway. After that, it was very disappointing. We sat there for over 45 min with no service. No one came to the table to ask for our order, take drinks, nothing. We tried to flag a waitress down but no one looked our way, seriously. We finally got someone's attention. They apologized and said they were short staffed. 20 min later someone came by and took our order. 20 min after that, food arrived. The French toast was good. The omelette was overcooked and crunchy. The burger had a burnt bun. My turkey sandwich had over crisp toast. A side salad had brown romaine. We didn't complain. We were told mt husband got a free dessert for his birthday. We got the bill and saw they CHARGED us for the dessert. On the way out i saw tge nanager and described our experience. He said next ask for the manager and he would make it right. Next time?! 1862 is a restaurant I have long wanted to patronize in Jefferson Tx. We finally were able to enjoy a dinner there on a Weds eve (first night of the week they arr open). I had read raving reviews so my expectations were high. I applaud their attempts at delivering high quality dishes, but the execution we found to be a bit disappointing. I had the salmon with lobster bisque. The bisque was excellent? But the salmon was on the verge of being overcooked and as a result was dry with little flavor of its own. The peti peti seasoning was flavorful however and was the only thing that saved the entree. The bed of potatoes were good but the Brussel sprouts were overcooked (they intended to be crispy and they were). My wife had onion soup and filet. The soup was very cheesy detracting somewhat from the flavor of the broth and the filet was disappointing in that it had little flavor of its own. Service was very good, but All in all, it was an ok meal but certainly not worth the $130 price. read more

The food is always outstanding...1852 & wedge salads were so good & then we split the halibut. A Cajun touch on it & we couldn't eat it fast enough. So good! They brought my hubby a big piece of yummy chocolate cake with a candle (I had told them beforehand & asked if they could do a bday dessert). The service is always outstanding here. My family and I had the joy of experiencing "Jazz Brunch" yesterday and we were all quite impressed. Against my better judgement I decided not to make reservations for all 8 of us (I know. I should have.) but thankfully we were able to be seated and the staff were all very accommodating. We decided on 1852 for my wife's birthday brunch because we'd heard great things and she was excited to try it out. Thankfully we weren't turned away. To start, we had a couple orders of the chicken friend Brussel sprouts and the Quail medallions for each table. Superb. Especially the Brussel sprouts. Our entrees were absolutely perfect in every day. I had the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. Wonderful. We enjoyed some cocktails and listened to the live jazz being performed right beside us. Don't waste your money. We had reservations for two on a Saturday night. We walked in and the hostess area was very cramped. She then sat us at a table not even 6ft from the entrance door. The drink menu was pathetic! The wine and bourbon list was very small with hardly anything to choose from. We started off with the 1852 fries that were supposed to have truffle zest and black pepper lemon aioli. We received potato wedges with hardly any crisp or seasoning. The lady that was in charge of bringing the food out would slam the plates down and if another plate was in the way she'd push it with the plate in her hand. We then ordered lobster bisque and French onion soup. The lobster bisque was cold and separating from whatever oils they used. The French onion soup was very dark in color and taste like it came out of a package. For our main course we ordered a filet with crispy Brussels and the 1852 ribeye with lobster truffle béarnaise. The filet was dry and did not have any char. The crispy Brussels were really good until you got to the bottom of the plate and tasted the over powering sauce. The 1852 ribeye looked like a cat threw up some thin clear sauce with a bunch of shredded lobster. The sauce tasted like lemon salad dressing and the lobster came out of a can. The steak itself was drowned in the sauce and no flavor or char. It was also a poor cut of meat with a lot of fat and tough to chew. Lastly we got dessert; the cheesecake and crème brûlée. The cheesecake was store bought and tasted like cardboard. The crème brûlée was nothing to brag about. The wait staff was very friendly. The restaurant seemed to want to be fancy with a nice menu but it was the opposite. I could've worn an old band t shirt and jeans with holes. They need to change direction with the food and just be a bar with live music. read more

Foodies new to Jefferson will absolutely not be disappointed with 1852. This restaurant has charm, beautifully simplistic decoration/color scheme, a great staff, and wonderful GM who walks around and chats with locals and newcomers alike. My husband and I tried an absolute delicious "off menu" appetizer, which unfortunately was not supposed to be offered, but the chef made it anyway and did not skimp on quality or taste. Who doesn't love a gourmet cheese and sirloin (cooked to perfection) board with a side of horseradish dip? We ordered a salmon and steak meal respectively and the presentation was something you would expect at a very high end restaurant in D/FW. I didn't meet the chef, but certainly suggest that they feature a little about him/her on their website, because their culinary abilities are spot on. The only other thing I would suggest would be a broader wine selection that would compliment the quality of the dishes being served. Perhaps French or Italian? :) Oh, and they feature live music on the weekends from time to time. We were just there a day too early. read more
