The food was delicious. We both got the Mardi Gras sandwich. It was worth it! A bit pricey but I enjoyed the small town atmosphere & waitress.

Oh. My. Word. The locals recommended we try the Austin Street Bistro and I'm glad we listened. When we first arrived, who I assume was the owner asked us to come back in 10-15 minutes so her crew could take a needed break - that type of leadership impressed me. She risked losing paying customers to prioritize her team. Wow. Now on to the food. We had the Asian chicken salad - incredible - and corned beef sandwich- also amazing. Their special bread is dessert like and they even served little oatmeal cookies for post dinner. The atmosphere is comfortable and very authentically "bistro". Everyone was kind and the food was amazing. This is a MUSTY place - I must return again!

Had never been to Jefferson and wanted something different..I had never eaten at a bistro before and I'm glad this was the first one. The building itself was built in the 1820s and has been a bistro for 16 years...its very eclectic in decor and the servers were very friendly and attentive. This may not be the best place to bring young kids although they do have a nice kids menu. I had the club sandwich with side salad and my wife had the grilled cheese and tomato soup..all of which was scratch made including the bread. Also the menu had lots of options. On top of all that ..the area and architecture looks like Bourbon Street in New Orleans. Definitely worth the stop.

The thanksgiving sandwich was delicious. Everyone in my party loved their food. I was recommended this place and it was definitely worth it.

Nice little place. Service was great. I had a dish called rooster skin. Was a flavor bomb of a dish. Hats off to the chef and staff.

We ordered our food but then sat back there 45 mins to receive our food cold from the runner and our server Tony hadn't been by to check on us. We told the runner we don't want the food cold so she took it back and manager came out to apologize / food comes back 2 mins later from the microwave . The same food that sat on the line! The biscuits were burned black! We barely touched the food and then asked Tony to bring us our check . Explained we were forgotten but he claimed he did not forget us and rolled his eyes. Comes back with the check and throws it at us and says buy a personality! In my 15 years of hospitality never had a server do that and I would never dream of doing that/ we let them know inside and they took off 20 percent the kicker was that Tony said I took money off your check and you aren't grateful but the prices were more expensive than the menu! Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else in Jefferson! After being treated like that and cold food our entire meal should have been comped!

Tasted the CFSteak, the coating tasted like it was made with old flour. The roll was on the well done side. Manager brought out a sample of white chicken chili...the chicken had no flavor, too much cumin and not enough salt; the broth was flavorless and weak. Husband didn't want me to say anything, but they need to know, hence the review. The three stars is for the BLT. It would be one star for everything else.

It was the best food we had ever eaten (I had a chicken fried steak sandwich and he had the dbl meat, dbl cheese burger). We were so happy with the food that we were willing to over look the fact that it took almost an hour to get our food with only 2 other tables there before us (granted one of them had maybe 6 or 7 ppl at it but still) We were passing though this past weekend and decided we would go back for lunch. I don't know if the ownership has changed again since maybe the end of October/early November but the menu had all changed, there was nothing there off the menu we had the 1st visit. The cook appeared to be the same cook but this time there was more help working, he had an assistant (a younger boy, looked about 7 or 18) and I suspect he was working the grill but the wait time was still the same, if not worse and sad to say the food was not that good this time. Maybe it was just that I had my mouth watered for the best CFS sandwich ever but I ordered a grilled ham and cheese sandwich with tots (supposed to have pepperjack and cheddar cheese - there was no pepperjack and the bread was a little more toasty than I like) BUT my hubby had the chicken and bacon waffle and it was completely gross. The waffle was way too dense and almost too much to eat and the chicken was almost burnt on the outside and almost not done on the inside. I can overlook long cooking times if the food is awesome, which it was the 1st time we were here, but if you are going to serve ehh food WITH almost an hour wait time then count me out! Probably won't be coming back which is a shame b/c I really liked this place.

So I wondered on over and looked over their menu. Lots of good options and I selected Cowboy Chicken Sandwich. I chose well. Nice thick crispy fried chicken breast, a couple slices of bacon, melted American cheese and a hand battered onion ring on top. I got the BBQ on the side since it was a to-go order. This sandwich did not disappoint. Everything worked. The BBQ sauce had just enough of a bite very good. The only thing I would do different is sub the fries for onion rings. The fries were frozen from a bag. The ORs were hand battered and d do good.

Its sad I have to post this because we know Becky from Jefferson. Its labor Day weekend first off…read moreso make sure you have your supplies. We get to the restaurant and are told they don't have carbonation so the only drinks they have is tap water and iced tea. (First rule of a restaurant is always have an extra bottle of CO2 in stock). Well I drink none of those so I went down the street to get drinks and came back. I also heard Don Henley just came in prior to us, how embarrassing to be out of drinks for your busiest weekend... Anyways. It gets worse. They were out of cheese and other items. This is an ordering issue. You knew it was going to be a busy weekend why not be prepared. Or if you know you're out of bottled water or cheese send someone down the street and get canned drinks, water and cheese. Easy fix! Well we ordered around 1pm which they close at 2. After getting back from the inconvenience of having to get drinks I had to go out to the car. It was 157pm. As I get back from the car the front door was locked. Ok no problem I'll come through the exit door. Nope! There is no handle no nothing to open the door. There was another older man outside as well and we had both left out phones outside. Last resort I had to knock on the glass and a customer stood there. I saw a lady that worked there staring at me through the glass but she never acknowledged me or the man. So when I get in I told the older lady if people go outside how do they get back in. Her exact response was we don't want anymore people in here were closed and I'm tired. Very unprofessional response. I then was at the table talking with my wife about why I was locked out and the lady rudely interrupted me trying to correct what I was saying. I politely told her to mind her own business as I was taking to my wife. Like I said before it's sad that I have to write this because I consider the owner a friend but she was not here at the time so I want to make sure she knows what's going on in her restaurant. I have it all on video if you need it Becky thanks. Hopefully you can get this resolved so I can remove this as we come here every Sunday.
