Amazing service and food! Wandered in after wandering Jefferson. Smelled amazing when we entered! All sauces are gluten free, but no gluten free pasta. I had the salmon and hubs had the pork. Bothered amazing! The flavors!!! The salmon was covered in pesto and pecans on a bed of jasmine e rice. Unbelievable!!! Hubs had the pork chop on grits. Nott a huge pork fan myself but this was Unbelievable!!!! Melt in your mouth pork with a red wine mushroom reduction over grits. Paired it with an exceptional bottle of chianti. When we first arrived, who I assume was the owner asked us to come back in 10-15 minutes so her crew could take a needed break - that type of leadership impressed me. She risked losing paying customers to prioritize her team. Wow. Now on to the food. We had the Asian chicken salad - incredible - and corned beef sandwich- also amazing. Gina and her staff are wonderful. Everything is made fresh, even the bread! It's always a good day when I get to have a leisurely lunch (with wine of course)at Austin Street Bistro. This visit was a Birthday lunch for my mom. We sat at the window table and enjoyed the sunny day and people watching. Mom ordered tomato basil soup and a chicken salad sandwich made on the delicious homemade bread with the fruit cobbler a la mode for dessert. I finally ordered something I've been eyeballing for awhile; the Super Food Salad. Wow! I managed to eat two thirds of this monster and took the rest home for my husband to try. I'm still craving it! Had never been to Jefferson and wanted something different..I had never eaten at a bistro before and I'm glad this was the first one. The building itself was built in the 1820s and has been a bistro for 16 years...its very eclectic in decor and the servers were very friendly and attentive. This may not be the best place to bring young kids although they do have a nice kids menu. I had the club sandwich with side salad and my wife had the grilled cheese and tomato soup..all of which was scratch made including the bread. Also the menu had lots of options. On top of all that ..the area and architecture looks like Bourbon Street in New Orleans. Definitely worth the stop. read more

Verry quaint bistro but the staff had the doors wide open and we were overrun by all of the flies and small gnats fighting us for our food. The food was marginal at best. The onion soup was very watered down and the Italian sandwich was not as good as Jason Deli and twice the price. The pasta dish was pretty bland and the accompanying salad was terrible because of the weird dressing. The sweet tea wasn't sweet at all. The service was excellent and the young lady was extremely attentive. My wife, granddaughter and I fought off flies for an hour and all of that for just shy of $100. Wow! Top 3 meal of 2021 so far. The four of us went a little early to beat the crowds and good thing we did, a car show was in town and surely spiked the business of the entire town. We had great service tonight and they even apologized for being slow. We didn't notice a bit and was it ever worth the wait. I had the smothered pork chop and whatever your pre-conceived notion of a pork chop is, just forget it! This butter soft chop came nestled neatly on top of a bed of smoked Gouda and jalapeño grits and topped with sautéed mushrooms that were perfectly cooked. I reached for my knife and realized I didn't need it. This was a fork only meal. My wife had the bistro salad that was simply amazing. Of course we had to share and it was an incredible combination. Our guests had the super food bowl with salmon and a side of the smoked Gouda grits and the tilapia filet with fresh basil and roasted garlic. Every meal was perfect and it was fun to see other dishes coming out and being served. The bistro is small and almost family style as we all enjoyed gawking at each dish going by. It has been a while since I've been to the Austin Street bistro but the food was always excellent and I love the ambience.

I can't recommend. To start, the food was marginal and very overpriced. You expect an $18 soup and sandwich lunch-sized plate to be pretty gourmet special, right? The French onion didn't come with croutons and when we asked for some, we were told since it was a combo plate, croutons could not be included (what!?! ). Remember, this was an $18 CUP of soup with a HALF sandwich. The artisan grilled cheese was basically a glorified piece of cheese toast. Not a sandwich. The crouton-less French onion was broth with undercooked stewed onions (not caramelized). Although the tuna salad was weirdly sweet, it was edible. The tomato basil soup was pretty good. The waitress seemed more interested in laying down the law on menu restrictions (only certain soups come with certain sandwiches) than in providing timely customer focus. A pretty disappointing experience that won't be repeated next time. read more

We had the superfoods bowl with salmon, vegetable lasagna, egg salad, and shepherd's pie. Portions were very generous- in hindsight we would have ordered less. I would put this place up against any restaurant I have dined at, including a Michelin two star in Paris. Well, admittedly I've gotten fancier service, better ambiance, and even more memorable food in my years of dining out, but Austin Street Bistro holds its own very well. The 1 1/4" thick pork chop on grits was quite good and could have fed two of us. It came with a chopped salad that disappeared completely from its plate. But the best part was the small piece of hot bread with melted butter and molasses that arrived right off the bat. I've always found that if the bread is good, you know you're in the right place. I don't feel there's a reason to be rude to customers who support you as a small business owner. I will never come here again, that's for sure. The Marinara tasted like sugar with cloves/potpourri.
