This was our first time here and we weren't too sure about it. We found out you need to call and make a reservation but luckily she happened to have a table available. It was musical bingo night and we had a blast doing that while dining. I had the Tavern Salad and it was so delicious! My husband loved his meal as well. Weekend in Jefferson, been a few years, the food scene more limited than I remember. Tried this place out, had some good reviews. I'll say this, good drink prices. The food is not it. As in previous reviews the meat for the burgers is obviously frozen. Fourteen dollars for frozen meat burger is pricey. Plus it wasn't seasoned. Spinach dip and queso dip was ok not the best. Chips were greasy and chewy. We had 2 appetizers, split a burger and 5 drinks (4 beers and a mixed drink) , $90 ouch. read more

Service was slow. Only 2 families in the place and it took way too long to get drinks. Pizza dough tasted like a premade pilsbury product you get in the frozen food section. When we asked for BBQ sauce they brought teriyaki sauce. ?? Drinks were canned soda that was then poured in a glass. Water tasted nasty also. And for a small place in the middle of nowhere they automatically added 20% gratuities for a party of 6. This service and food didn't deserve 20%. read more

Pleasantly surprised at the food here as the online menu didn't indicate many veggie options. They actually had a great plant based burger and vegetable sides. Yummy drinks and friendly service. My only criticism is that the staff weren't wearing face masks nor were many customers, and social distancing wasn't observed. I'd like to go back post-covid. We got into town a little late, and we were looking for dinner. The KnightLight was still open, so we came in. It's a cozy place indoors, and the waitress was very nice. We enjoyed their signature "potato keg" appetizer, and we both had seafood entrees. We finished with their warm carrot cake. We really enjoyed our meal. The patio looked nice, too. read more

We had the fried tomatoes and chips with spinach/artichoke dip for appetizers - nothing outstanding but decent. I had the Rueben and wife shared the veggie pizza with her girlfriend. My buddy had the Dragon burger. Everything was wonderful. Craft beer and wine list were huge! Some local but mostly national brands. Wife and I shared the Bourbon pecan pie. Mostly pecan with very little bourbon. Meh. Bill totaled about $70 per couple. I think you should give it a try. We'll be back. read more

Took visit here over the weekend while staying in Jefferson. After reading some other reviews and some of the pictures it does seem like they do have some good dishes. The problem lies in the dishes they threw on the menu that they're deeply unserious about the quality. Girlfriend ordered a pepperoni pizza and it was definitely just a frozen pizza. I had an Italian and I did like the flavor and sauce but was puzzled why they chose to dice the onions on the sandwich instead of just larger slices. This restaurant like many others in the town needs tighten up its menu, you don't have to serve everything under the sun but the stuff you do serve needs to be great read more

Owner outright lied in his response about my review on Open Table. We paid over $80 for this meal, and I didn't even get to eat. He said it was free, which is not true. The steak I returned twice was removed from the ticket. We even paid for asparagus that was sent back with the steak and a glass of wine we didn't order! The point of the pic of the steak is that it was rare on one side and overcooked on the other. Gnats everywhere, including in my glass. Reservations for a romantic dinner and were placed in front of the restroom door. We visit Jefferson often, as well as many people we know. We will never recommend this place, especially after the owner lied and didn't even try to make things right. read more

Holy frozen patties!!! I debated on posting this review because I sure don't like leaving negative posts. But..... We had really high hopes based on the other reviews but we ended up disgusted and disappointed. We had 2 burgers and 2 beers. The burger patties tasted pretty terrible and you could tell they were the kind out of the frozen section of the grocery store by the way they looked. I only ate half of my burger and filled up on fries. When the waitress (who by the way seemed like she hated the world and everything in it) brought us our ticket, it was $52 DOLLARS! Um.......what? Why? We both checked it over and all that was on there were our 2 burgers and my hubs 2 beers. The beers totaled $8. That's how proud they are of their frozen patties. read more

This is a kitschy little themed restaurant with tapestries on the bare brick walls and Old English font on the menu. With dishes like the Friar Tuck or the ExcaliBurger, it's a nice surprise to see a moderately long wine list, and the free glass for the Yelp checkin was a nice touch. My vegetarian sister had several options, from the black bean Dungeon burger to a pasta primavera with seasonal vegetables, which she ordered and declared delicious. I had the black bean burger with sweet potato fries, and my husband had the regular burger. They were large half-lb. burgers but rather dry and came with a small order of plain chips - not the value I expected for a $10-$12 burger. Still, it was a lovely evening, and the service was polite. Don't expect a fast meal here, but enjoy the wine and try the baguette with herbed olive oil while you wait. read more

My husband and I went here for our anniversary dinner. We were worried about social distancing measures, but these guys have tables spaced greater than six feet apart. They have menus on boards and individual salt and pepper packets. The food was good. I had catfish and my hubby had ribeye. Everything was delicious! We ended with Pineapple Upside Down Cake. lovely little place! Great wine and beer selection. We had some appetizers which were great, but didn't have a full meal. All of the staff were really really nice and we felt like we were at a friend's house. Would return for sure and try a full meal next time. Update: returned and ordered a full meal. We ordered a steak and added bbq shrimp and had potato and salads. All very tasty. The steak was a bit too marbled for my taste, but husband enjoyed it. Pecan pie was also good. Excellent experience! The hostess provided a very positive first impression, and sat us in a great location. Our server was exceptional and knowledgeable - very pleasant. She made great suggestions and knew the menu very well. Really one of the best customer service experiences we've had in a while. The food was also top notch. The chicken wings appetizer was great. The main course chicken was also very good. The filet with shrimp was one of the best meals I've had in a long time. The filet was cooked perfectly, and of top quality. The shrimp had a kick that was the perfect level of spice. I had the Brussels sprouts for a side, and they were cooked perfectly. Best I've had in a restaurant - probably ever. Don't let the lack of street appeal fool you, the interior is more appealing albeit more dated than renaissance like. We ordered chicken wings for appetizers that were absolutely from a box and then were overcooked - the crust was dark like gumbo roux. The entrees were much better. My husband had a hamburger steak with mashed potatoes and I had the Medieval Fettuccine w/shrimp. The portion size of both entrees was really good for the price which is not expensive. The hamburger steak presentation and flavor were good. The Medieval Fettuccine presented well but and tasted better when I added seasoning provided on the table, it was also missing the cheese advertised on the menu which is probably why the dish lacked some "OMG" flavor. Our server, Holly, provided great service. She sequenced our food exceptionally well, her personality was sweet, exactly what you think of when you think of Southern Ladies, and the other FOH staff were equally friendly and engaging. This gem, hidden in the heart of Jefferson, Tx. has some of the best steaks around. The other steak houses in town get the credit, but this place delivers. The steaks were cooked to order and to perfection, the sides were tasty and the staff was great. I was told if you haven't had a hamburger from the Knightlight Theater you need to try it out. So, we went last night and the atmosphere was great! Reminded me of the "Cheers" show on TV where everybody knows everybody. And then the food came, it was delicious just as I was told. I ate the whole thing , I couldn't stop until it was all gone!
