    Breakfast egg sandwich
    Amelia D.

Came here for breakfast on a Monday morning; it's a good deal for a cappuccino and an egg brioche sandwich with bacon. They have a small amount of outdoor seating and the breakfast sandwich far surpasses some others I have had for a similar price. It comes with a garlicky green sauce on the side, which was interesting to try. It's more of a grab and go place for folks coming off off Lake Merritt but not too busy at 8:30am.

    Americano with magnificent crema

I've unfortunately become an espresso snob and will not order them from many cafés, despite them being my favorite, because often times I find the espresso beans are burnt, and that taste exacerbated throughout Americanos. That said, this unassuming cafe is DELIGHTFUL. Great service. Fantastic coffee. And the most reasonable prices for coffee and breakfast items I've seen throughout Oakland. My Americano and a breakfast wrap or breakfast sandwich comes out to $12 before tip! Definitely recommend

    Super refreshing mint lemonade

Solid spot with lovely drinks and fantastic pastries! I came through for a drive by beverage and bite with a catch up with an old friend. she had the chai, which she really really enjoyed. I asked for a good lemonade recommendation and was steered toward the mint lemonade. It was fantastic! Refreshing, bursting with flavor, and not too sweet. Tasted of real lemon and mint! I also had a bite of my friend's passionfruit mochi donut. SWOON I SAY!! SWOON!!Gentlemen helping us out was also very very kind. would definitely come back!

I got an espresso. Good layer of crema, but thin body and flat flavor. Tasted like a dark roast with slight bitterness. Not burnt but a no-go for straight espresso for me 2/5.

    Bacon for doggos!

Loved that they had bacon pieces for their canine customers. Pricing was reasonable at $9/breakfast sandwich. I could tell they were a neighborhood favorite as the line got longer. The problem was that their was a hair in the middle of my Avocado Melt. The other 3 egg sandwiches came without issue. I'm just grossed out by the hair.

They had a special today. The spicy chicken with chimichurri. Btw - I'm obsessed with their green sauce.

Making me post another review for uploading an additional pic. @yelp - let's change this please?! Thanks! And yum!

Five star review for local business with chill staff, waking distance from my home, good enough coffee, excellent doughnuts. On a different day, I could see me writing this review as four stars. Look -- limited seating and food that's a touch pricey for the portions means it isn't my daily/regular coffee place but I do stop by about once a month and have never had a bad experience. Their pastries are the hidden gem. The tiny little doughnuts have a sharp sweetness that's difficult to match: .

This is a grab and go coffee spot across from the Gardens at Lake Merritt. It seemed like a local spot as the owner/barista/cashier was striking up a conversation with some customers. We ordered two drinks: Latte (16 oz - $4.95): Not my drink, but I took a few sips +Strong coffee flavor balanced by the whole milk Pumpkin Pie Latte (16 oz - $5.45) with 2 pumps syrup (50% sweet) +Good amount of pumpkin pie spices that didn't overwhelm the coffee itself -Reminded me more of pumpkin spice vs pumpkin pie: Adding some pie crumbles on top would evoke pie more *Verdict: The drinks were less expensive than other coffee shops I've been too, and it's a convenient spot to grab coffee and/or pastries around Lake Merritt.

    Egg Sandwich

This review is solely based off the food item that I ordered. I got an egg sandwich - bacon egg and cheddar on a brioche bun. I had high hopes as I have been eyeing this place for a long while and it had good reviews but I was met with disappointment when I took my first bite. They put so much mustard!! I literally gagged when I saw this. Egg with mustard is a crime. Also they didn't put cheddar? It was some other type of cheese. Not sure was good though. I also wish that the green aioli they included on the side was more flavorful. I couldn't really taste anything when I tried it. My biggest disappointment was the mustard situation. I wish I would've known so I could've requested it without it. I will say the service was great- the girl at the register was very sweet regardless of the mid day rush. She deserves all the flowers!

My fiancé and I tried this place last Sunday after our run around lake Merritt . We shared the ( stuffed croissant ) breakfast egg sandwich with cheddar and bacon ( no avocado) because unfortunately I am allergic to it . It was very tasty and fresh. I had an ice coffee and I am usually one that loves sugar in my coffee but I tend to usually go now for natural sugars like coconut or honey but I did not need any with this iced coffee it was very tasty and smooth. My fiancé had the same drink but hot and he loves it black , he also loved the flavor . They were a little busy on Sunday and this was around 10am . They had 3 workers one doing short orders , one coffee and one making the food. There is no chairs or tables only a small countertop . You are usually standing in line outside it there is one . I totally forgot to take a pic of our coffees ! But I got you guys on their menu , which I think the prices are reasonable compared to bay prices

I pedaled my bike over there this Wednesday morning, aiming to secure a proper breakfast that would actually carry me past 11 a.m. The shop is cozy, definitely on the smaller side with a few seats inside, giving it that familiar, neighborhood spot feel. It's not a sprawling, antiseptic café, and I appreciate that. I ordered the Laney Breakfast Sandwich, which features egg, fresh spinach, sliced turkey, and Swiss cheese on a toasted English muffin. What impressed me was the intentionality--this wasn't something sitting under a heat lamp, looking defeated. It was clearly made to order. The egg was seasoned right, the turkey wasn't flimsy, and the spinach added that necessary fresh bite. It was a damn good sandwich, simple as that. I paired that with the Berry Lovers Smoothie. The original recipe calls for banana, but I asked if they could swap that out for mango. My people know that mango adds a different kind of sunshine, and they executed the substitution flawlessly. It came out thick, perfectly blended--a rich mix of blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, and that mango kick. It was super refreshing and didn't taste like I was drinking melted ice. The service was quick and friendly, which is key on a weekday morning. Everything tasted clean, fresh, and intentionally prepared. If you're looking for high-quality breakfast fare that feels less commercial and more like something someone actually cares about, stop by. The short bike ride and the intimate seating are worth it for what comes out of that kitchen. They earned this review.

Our orders were taken and we sat down to wait. There were a TON OF FLIES buzzing around and I kept having to wave them off especially when we got our order to the table, which honestly was gross. We were called to pick up our order, but only 1 of the 4 items was ready: Zadie's Masterpiece Breakfast Sando - Really tasty and enjoyed the biscuit it was on. Skimpy on the bacon, there was ONE piece but overall good breakfast sandwich. Next item ready 5 minutes later: Khadija's Slow Burn Harissa Hot Honey Breakfast Burrito - Really tasty. Definitely flavor packed and would order this again. *BUT there was an issue. Apparently the person that ordered before us asked for the same burrito to go...they NEVER got it and yet our order was ready. The person was pretty cool about it but they were definitely annoyed and gave us a look although it wasn't our fault. *The ordering system seems unorganized with the cashier writing orders on a slip of receipt paper and putting them on a stand by the kitchen. I wonder if the slips were out of order or fell and they skipped this persons to go order? IDK but they need a better system! We tried waiting for our coffees before starting to eat but then our food started getting cold...YOU KNOW WHY?... because the poor person that was taking orders was also in charge of making drinks. Having one person as cashier and barrista is NOT a good idea on a busy Saturday morning. It was hard for them to take a moment and focus on the drinks becuase people kept coming in an placing orders which means we waited for 20+ minutes before getting our drinks. By then our food was mostly eaten! Thankfully we noticed they had a water pitcher for free water which was a saving grace! The wait for drinks was so long that people that were already sitting when we arrived and had already eaten their food were JUST getting their drinks before us. HORRIBLE! I felt really bad for the cashier/barista :( Another turn off, there is no understanding on what to do with dirty dishes. Do we bus our table? If so where do we put it? We noticed people leaving plates by the water pitcher and cups, some put them on the long counter by the coffee area. There wasn't a garbage or compost bin, so we weren't sure where to put food scraps. There was a bin for "Plastic Only" but only the cup lids were plastic and the cup itself was paper, so where TF do you put that? We noticed a black plastic bin that someone had brought out from the back, so we placed our stuff in there but wasn't exactly sure. We tried to ask the cashier/barista but they were slammed with customers so we ccouldn't get their attention. IDK the place is just poorly organized and messy! There are tables for people to make artwork which is nice but on a busy Saturday it might have been nice to clean those areas up to allow people to sit. Sorry guys... *You need a dedicated barista! People waiting 20+ minutes for drinks is insane especially when the food comes out relatively fast. *Please clean up your restaurant. The amount of flies was gross and no one wants to swat them away from food & drinks. *Tell people if they should bus their own tables and if so.... *Make it clear where to leave plates, cups, garbage, compost etc.
