[[HIGHLIGHT]]Spacious and open seating with a beautiful interior and exterior![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Found parking quick and smooth ordering, I got the horchata latte which I was initially anticipating some sort of horchata syrup, per other coffee shop experience, but enjoyed it still as a regular horchata with espresso on top. My friend got the mazapan latte with oat milk, I think that one is a more sweeter and creamier compared to the rice milk of horchata, so up to personal preference.
This is one of West Oakland's favorites, and to be fair, is quite hidden from the naked eye -- unless you decide to explore the area in more detail. This coffee shop is honestly unique in its own way -- the Western kick of coffee meets the Mexican style of pan, tamales, and more. Upon going there many times, i find that they have a wide variety of things that none other coffee shop can do better: horchata lattes. To my surprise they're honestly one of the best in the area. They source their coffee beans locally from Oakland and Hayward, and their syrups are made from scratch. In addition, they get their tamales from a local tamal factory in Hayward -- which tastes authentic and of region. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They also give really good hospitality, and the design of the coffee shop is very modern and chique.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I will say the down side of this coffee shop is that they have limited seating inside, and the outside seating is usually pretty cold, so some people just take their food & drinks to go.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Otherwise, I'd recommend this place forsure!

So the sauce IS called salsa macha, and I finally got a pic of the ever so delicious tamale. I arrived kind of late today but was able to order. Today I tried their seasonal drink, the iced calabaza latte - you can order it hot. Pumpkin and cinnamon are some of the flavors listed for the drink. This was the creamiest drink I've ever had. I'll be sad when this drink goes away.

I was surprised that they used real chocolate bits and not a syrup like usual. I'll be back here soon to try more of their specialty drinks and also Mexican pastries, which looked amazing!
I got espresso. Tried the single origin and the decaf blend of the day both were very well executed. The light roast good layers and smooth texture. I tasted notes of fruit and mild citrus. 5/5 The decaf had a bit more body with creamy texture. I tasted dark chocolate with mild acidity. 4/5. This was my second visit and I'll definitely be back.
I was beyond impressed with the Cappuccino here. Thick and silky smooth foam. And it is conveniently located to one of my favorite climbing gyms in the Bay Area: Pacific Pipe. The service was above par, and the coffee at the base was delicious. Even though it's in Oakland, and I am in SJ, I picked up their punch card because I will definitely be back.
I saw Proyecto Diaz's stall at the West Oakland / Prescott night market and since I didn't want to get caffeine that late in the evening, I decided to try their nopal y pineapple agua fresca. The cactus makes it taste more vegetably overall. I wish I could taste the pineapple better, but it's good if you don't like your agua fresca super sweet. It has a spicy tang around the rim.

Only open til 4 PM Mon - Sat so not as highly available as some other options but brings a young family, college vibe for an area mostly populated by industrial spaces Mainly for the people who go climbing nearby and there's a shaded interior with swings and dining tables if you wanted to eat outside as well. Their single origin coffee was nice, floral, and well balanced. Had it as an Americano with light ice and definitely had a nice pick me up kick but nothing crazy The space isn't great if you're looking to study inside mainly because the seating is quite square-ish so it's not aimed for long seating sessions but would suggest maybe the outside tables if you were inclined to study nearby It's not overly well known mostly because it is tucked away in the corner of a giant industrial building but it is a nice spot for a weekend side quest if you're already planning to go to Pacific Pipe or the nearby taco trucks

I used to come here often when I lived in Oakland, and the service was always great. I came back for the first time in about a year and was disappointed to see the customer service has gone downhill. The cashier wasn't very friendly and made me feel like I was inconveniencing her. I asked if there was additional inventory of a basket I wanted since the one available was damaged, and without checking, she immediately said no. As I was leaving, I noticed she placed the basket in a different spot and there was more inventory. I had already spent $70 and was prepared to spend more, but the lack of help and attentiveness really took away from the experience. Hopefully this was just an off day, because this used to be a place I really enjoyed shopping at.

The horchata latte has the base of horchata and then the espresso, so it's not a syrup. The mazapan had small pieces of mazapan in the drink which at first I was unsure about, but it was a good addition and yummy. The barista was super sweet and the wait wasn't super long. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Finally had a chance to drop by this West Oakland location of Proyecto Diaz Coffee, and what a great space and spot to enjoy a craft coffee.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]This shop is tucked into a side street in the very industrial section of Mandela Parkway, and you'd miss it if you didn't know where to look. It's in a store front on the side of Pacific Pipe climbing gym.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If your lost, just follow the trail of gym rats heading for a pre- or post-climb buzz. The shop has a small but super carefully curated menu that spotlights Mexican grown estate coffee, a lot of not most being single-origin. You will probably find a roast to your taste as well as some really creative concoction, hot or cold. I went with the nitro cold brew which was perfect for an 83°F afternoon. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space inside is clean and welcoming with lots of seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There are also sunny tables outside as well as shady seating in the breezeway in front of the rock gym.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] While I didn't grab anything to eat, there are some pastries and empanadas on the menu. I did grab a bag of beans to take home. Service is friendly and efficient. Definitely adding Proyecto Diaz Coffee as a stop on future transits through West Oakland. read more

We had a spontaneous trip to this coffee shop and I do not regret it. I got the mocha and the concha cause it was cute. The mocha wasn't overly sweet, the concha wasn't dry and the tamal de elote?? Yeah, I took one of those to go. Recommend the tamal de rajas too. The line got long a couple of times and they served everyone quickly. I will for sure be back. read more

What a nice place, but I forgot to take photos. We ordered two coffees and some pastries. They are so good. I am not a fan of sweet tamales , but what they offer here is amazing. I enjoyed every bite of it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is dope, so big and beautiful. Ordered a cafe de olla latte with oatmilk. First time trying this after hearing about it on social media. It was delicious. First sip was really good after mixing; it reminded me of a dirty chai latte but with less spices. I enjoyed how smooth and creamy (just slightly) the drink was. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior is gorgeous and decorations suit the story behind the coffee shop.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There are some handmade items like candles for sale by local artists as well. I ordered an iced Mazapan Latte which was such a unique flavor and tasted great. The latte was smooth and I have no complaints about it. Found this cafe by accident, and it turned into a happy accident! I tried the dirty chai latte, cafe de olla latte, and a really interesting pastry. The pastry was filled with raspberry, and it was light and flaky, just perfect! The cafe de olla latte was delicious, I could drink these every day! The dirty chai latte was okay, next time I'll have to get an extra espresso shot in it. Service was excellent, they offered to warm my pastry and I love that. The inside was interesting, not very comfortable seating, the better option is the patio outside, lots of tables and even chair swings! I can't wait to go back, highly recommend for your morning coffee! read more

I really can't stop coming here !!!! The Tijuana Tonic is addicting hands down. Perfect node of the lime and brown sugar. It's definitely worth it and I appreciate the barista Kevin! He makes it the same way every time! His hands are blessed beyond measure. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place was absolutely amazing. The vibes, the drinks and the food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I got a canela latte that I believe is seasonal and it was the best latte I've had in a while. Also their pan de elote is dangerously good. When I left they said bye and remembered my name, which in working in customer service before is such an amazing thing. Couldn't recommend more read more

Proyecto Díaz gives a cozy feel and truly takes me back to my roots, from the Latino decorations, to the Latino music playing in the background, to where they source their coffee beans from. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I come here, it feels like a piece of home.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Also their pastries are delicious, especially their pan de elote. Their staffing is also very kind and make the experience very pleasant and enjoyable. read more

Went here before going climbing at Pacific Pipe to grab a coffee. The location is bright and spacious with tons of indoor and outdoor seating, but tables are coffee tables so you gotta hunch over or work on your laptop if you plan to work from here. It's not too loud here, music is played at a perfect level. The baristas are friendly and fun. Anyway I ordered a Mexican Mocha, was forewarned that it would be a little spicy. Took a sip and yeah it's got a kick to it. It was tasty, but hope to try other drinks as time goes on. read more

Super friendly staff!! They recommended the cafe de olla, so I got it! SO GOOD. Their house made syrup was just perfect. Sweet but not too sweet. Love the flavors from the spices. I gotta try the pastries and tamales next time! They look super good!! read more
Do yourself a favor and check out this new fabulous coffee shop. They are super nice the coffee's are amazing! They have breakfast tamales vegetarian as well as meat. The morning I went they also had fruity empanadas and pastries. You will know you have arrived when you spot the art on the building and notice all the cars... no need to worry plenty of space the front patio is where the sunshine is early inside the vibe is super chill AND they still have another patio out back! Lots of art and trinkets to look at and purchase. Seriously this is a coffee shop all coffee shops should aspire to be. Thanks for the amazing morning experience! read more

Proyecto Diaz Coffee opened it's cafe & coffee roasterie here recently. Roomy, upscale, spacious with soft music in the background. They source Mexican coffee beans, celebrates Oaxacan Culture. Nice writeup in S.F. Chron food section 2/4/24. Greeted, served quickly by associates. Offerings: pour overs, drip of the day, espressos, coffee variants, tea, non caffeine drinks, pan dulce, coyotas.. Drink ready on minutes. Self serve station pointed out to me. Drink: dark roast espresso, mexican "patria" (3.75) -bold & robust taste, slightly harsh. Easy sipping 4.5 stars parking spaces not easily seen *literally zig zag a maze to get here. Best route is either 14th st. or W. Grand, turn @Mandala Parkway, turn at 20th st. read more

I had this coffee shop on my saved list for a while. I found it on instagram and decided to give it a try. I came in on a Saturday and there was a good amount of people there. First thing I noticed this is more of a hang out spot not somewhere that you can work at. It has a minimalist look I really like that. They do sell some cute things. We ordered two coffee and they only had 2 milk options. They sold some pastries but not too many. I ordered a latte and that was good. My husband ordered a drink that was overly spicy I don't know what it was called. He couldn't really even drink it. We took it to go since there was no tables. My drink was good like I said but I felt I wasted money with the other spicy coffee. I really wanted to like this place based on the reviews. I just hate when I feel I wasted my money on one of the coffees. read more
