The place has changed staff constantly for the past few months and the great vibe is pretty diminished. I am hoping to bump this up to a 5-star soon. The food was delicious, ambiance was great. Bread pudding was like no other. The service was not great. It took forever to get our drinks. Would have ordered a third round (we had a DD) but it took 2 hours to get the first two. The server was not well-versed in the food and drink menu and kept having to flag her down. Entrees took easily 45 minutes to an hour to get. Will try this place again and hopefully will get better service that matches the amazing food. read more

Great basement bar, ambience and food! Very cool old school architectural area/location. The 1901 sit down restaurant is upstairs.

When Will worked here, the drinks were amazing. We went back recently, and the recipes have definitely changed so much that the drinks are absolutely terrible and honestly just made very incorrectly. I don't think that the bartenders know how to make these crafty drinks. This place is consistently closed for "remodeling" but this seems to happen every time they are unable to staff the place. The locals are well aware that the owner is a difficult person to work with hence the tremendous amount of turnover that this place experiences. additionally, this place has been renamed quite a few times in this lifetime. It has tried so many different vibes and aesthetics that quite frankly I don't even know that they know who they are anymore and again this has happened under the same ownership. I really hope that 1901 is able to find a good bartender that's passionate about the wonderful cocktails that can be curated here. This place is okay drinks are kinda weak. Not a place I would frequent, prices are too high for what you get, the ambiance is cool love the music. But not enough for me to go back just happened to go in because of the summer concert. But hey to each is own check out for yourself. Stick to the beer. read more

This was my second time trying this restaurant. Saturday night and very crowded so we were sat outside on the patio. It was chilly so we asked for the heaters to be turned on and they did have blankets for use. It was good to see a few wine selections for $8. Most places price by the glass for 2-3 x that much. The beet salad was enough for 2-3 people and absolutely delicious. Chicken Picatta was too lemony and the chicken was overcooked and dry. Halibut was very good and the winner of the evening over the chicken and salmon selections. It was a birthday celebration and they thoughtfully brought a bread pudding free of charge. It had a peculiar smokey taste and was on the dry side. We went down to the speakeasy for some music and left immediately. When a room is small with low ceilings, it should be considered how loud the music could be. It was too loud and not good at all. My second time leaving in a hurry. Delicious drinks and great ambiance! Went for the first time tonight with some friends and we tried several of their house cocktails which all featured unique flavors and presentations. The starry night was my personal favorite, but there is definitely something for everybody. I'd also like to add that they are handicap accessible, and they make it very easy to access the speakeasy downstairs via elevator. I reached out prior to arrival on their Instagram to make sure they could accommodate a wheelchair, and they responded very quickly and were very kind. Three friends and I went for drinks and dinner at 1901 last night. First time for all of us and it was great. Sam the bartender was awesome and the French 75 cocktails were tasty! Dinner was absolutely delicious! My blackened salmon was really good and the linguine with clam sauce was apparently excellent! Our only complaint was it was pretty chilly sitting under the fan in the speakeasy for dinner. Other than that, excellent! read more
