We had been bar hopping around downtown ventura, and we had walked over to Paddys, a usual staple in our rotation of bars. We had had about two drinks before, but nothing over the top we were walking in and i had stumbled a little bit (apparently) in the parking lot. When we walked up to willingly give our IDs, a security guard stopped us and told us that based off of suspicion of being too drunk they would not let us in. Confused we started to ask why, but we got no explanation other than "you stumbled walking up", i was also in heels walking through the parking lot without lights on. Needless to say we went down the street to the tavern and got our drinks (where we walked to and were let in). Usually can rely on Paddy's for a good time, and I understand that they need to uphold a certain policy with customers coming in who have been drinking, but in no way were we slurring our words, overly stumbling, or being combative. People were even looking at us while we were speaking with the security guard and asked if we were going in or not. Kinda weird and probably will take Paddy's off of the bar hopping list, especially with other people telling me personally they've had bad experiences with bar tenders here as well. read more

Love the vibes and the staff! The bartenders especially!! I'm in the navy and haven't been home in 2 years so loved their overall welcoming vibe. However, we went for karaoke night, I had one friend wait for over an hour and her song was never played and when she asked where she was in the queue, the lady running karaoke she was overly rude. Love paddy's and have always had a good experience until tonight. If I'm with a group of friends and tell you we're all going to pay for multiple rounds and you pick up my receipt and say "0 tip wow thank you" when we haven't finished drinking yet... wow!! 90% of the time bartenders don't get 100% of their credit card tips or they get taxed so we like to tip cash. Maybe don't be so entitled next time and you can get even more than a 50% tip with good service. Do better on a Monday night when business is already slow as it is. read more

I have been going here off and on for years. I don't drink anymore as I am in recovery but I still go to this bar to be around the community I am a part of, the LBGTQ community. I am transgender and my girlfriend is also transgender, we both went into Paddy's bar last night and basically felt like we were being preseured to leave for no reason. We were approached in a somewhat aggressive way about our IDs needing to be seen, then after that we were asked what we were drinking. I said "how much is a club soda, I don't drink alcohol" and the bar tender responded by saying something along the lines of, "how would I know? Do I look like I work here?". He was wearing a shirt representing the establishment, and had been a bartender there for at least 8 years to my knowledge. He goes by "Robbie". I ordered a soda later after feeling like I was being refused service, and wanted to test the watters. He served the soda, and when we left he followed us out and smoked a cigarette by the door untill we left. I believe we were made to feel uncomfortable here because we are transgender, sober, and or poor. Just know, this is not the third space, or LBGT community you might hope for. We were kind and respectful the entire time as solidarity is important to us. read more

Swing through on a drag night and the front transforms into a full-on theater, complete with a boystrous crowd that knows how to have a good time. Saturdays? Don't miss the back vault--it swings open to reveal a full dance floor and a second bar that keeps the energy popping all night long. This place is iconic. Oh, and on some weekends you might even get lucky to catch their popup taco stand on the patio. After some boozy drinks it really is the recipe for a perfect night. Things started off normal here but I recommend for any visitors DO NOT get in with the regulars and the workers here. Its dangerous. Just don't go in general if you can help it. My tab's always different for the same amount of drinks made. Not to mention the terrible attitude and service you get when you can't spare too much of a tip or are trying to find your ID. Relentlessly groped and harassed at that bar by creeps. After you reject all the bartenders that are hitting on you (except the one named dylan hes the only one providing actual drink service) they will go out of their way to be vindictive and make you wait for your drinks and then make them like crap. The guy Timmy will ignore you for ten plus minutes and then steal money off your tab through extra drinks, he will make your drinks terrible on purpose too if you use a free drink token- courtesy of the bar of course, but that doesn't matter to them. The big one Rob is one of the rudest bartenders ever. Talks gossip on customers in front of customers, and is never inside the bar for his shift cause hes smoking so good luck getting a drink you might as well grab it yourself and thats what Ive seen people do. The lady I think Sarah charged me $20 for a $8 drink and had a crazy attitude with me when I got confused and politely asked her about change for it, I understand if she thought it was a ten but thats no excuse to give a paying customer lip. Deeply vindictive and desperate people working together to make the worst experience possible. Dead end place and empty all the time. And it makes sense why. You could tip extra on every check and they'll still pull this on you. Plenty of other bars on Main that would never even think of pulling the disrespect that Ive seen these people do on a daily basis. I expected more out of the last full gay bar here. This place is awesome! Every time I go there with friends, I have an amazing time. I know all the bartenders. They are super friendly and attentive. I have been doing customer services for over 20 years. I have worked restaurants and hotels, working on the service industry isn't easy. The number one thing people who works on the industry deals with are entitled yerks who feel they can get away with everything they want. First and foremost, people need to understand that they are people working, attending them! Not robots or machines! People have things to deal with at home, problems that are in their mind and are trying to just get done with their shift so they can go back to their life. That is call being empathetic!!! For those who don't like to tip, suck it!! If you see a bartender or server who is extremely busy please understand the amount of pressure they are going in order to get to you and your sense of entitlement. So ALWAYS! leave the least 20% tip. Other way, do you think that with rent the way it is anyone can leave in a minimum wage ($16.00 hourly rate) where shifts are between 4 to 5 hours? Now if you think they should get a better job, then who would be the one dealing with your bratty sense of entitlement? So please be always respectful to your server or bartender because the least you know, he or she could be saving all their money to get their own business. Similar to a previous review, the bouncer denied a friends foreign ID and insisted on only accepting US ONLY ID's. A second persons claiming to be the manager stepped out and said they accept foreign passports. I called them out on the bouncers statement of US ONLY and the "manager" started belittling me and saying that I didn't know what a country was and then listing the names of countries in a very condescending tone. I had previously faced microagression from the staff employed here and had not come in a long time. The staff, bouncers and bartenders are rude and I do feel that there is a specific target against hispanics at this establishment. read more

I've been to Paddy's multiple times, and then tonight Rob (I don't know if it's a fake name) was extremely rude. Walked in with a water bottle because I'm on a cut (and DD but wanted to sip on a beer) he grabbed my water bottle threw it away saying "it's not allowed" he rolled his eyes and scanned my ID at the machine. I have no problem with that because I look young. He told me he wasn't comfy with serving me and i said it was okay. My friend asked why he wasn't even though my ID scanned which meant my ID was legit. He was extremely rude and started arguing with us. I have no problem with not being served but he started saying rude things about my age and what not. I told him at the end of the day it's okay but i was curious why he was weird about my ID and asked if it was because i brought a water bottle in. I've been in multiple times (even with my water bottle) and never had a problem (I am 26). I don't know if it was because he was flirting with a customer and i interrupted it or what. But this was the first time i have ever had a problem with this place, it's specifically about the worker. I get we all have bad nights, but at some point it becomes disrespectful. read more

Being from Santa Clarita, Paddy's is a little over an hour and 20 minutes away in good traffic. I like to come to some of the bar's themed nights such as Daddy's boy and the pup event. The staff is always nice and the crowd is fun. Even though this crowd is more co-ed than I am used to, everyone was respectful and friendly. The two events that I came to had some fun raffles and some sexy gogo dancers. The last time I came they even had a food truck outside the bar with some amazing Asian cuisine. I enjoy coming for happy hour and Drag queen bingo is always fun. The bartenders are nice to me and I usually get a few beers though they have a good selection of hard liquor. It's a gay bar with a mixed crowd, low lighting, The music is good and it's not to pretentious. I like the outdoor area and the building itself is cool. As a local, I gotta say! Paddy's is definitely one of my favorite places in the city to just exist and be at with friends. It can get very very busy so like with any other service you receive be patient and have gratitude, these bartenders work so damn hard and will get you the drinks you need and get you having a great time. I recommend the busy weekend nights of course! They are best for a good dance, however I also love the more relaxed times like Thursday evenings or a Sunday evenings that doesn't have an event, it gives a chance to sit and have great chats with the community of people that regularly spend time there and allows you to really get to see what paddy's is. read more

June Pride Month Review coming at you! How can I give anything less than a 5 star rating on a LGBTQ+ bar/business that survives and remains open on the Central Coast? Paddy's is not only a "gay bar" but also a Ventura institution. No matter what background, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation or otherwise, all are welcome here! LOVE. The bartenders are efficient, surprisingly polite (given the sometimes rowdy clientele), and mix up some stiff drinks. After all, isn't a stiff one a requirement at a gay bar?! :X Props to the bartender who knew my order of a Raspberry Vodka Press--lime on the glass even! They go all out with themes and decorating here,; whether it's Pride, Halloween, or anything else worth celebrating. And I live for it! Many events happen weekly between drag shows, Bingo, DJ dance parties and beyond. The space is a very good size with the main bar, a side room with disco balls for dancing, and outdoor patios in the back. They even have parking which odd a plus. I've lived in Ventura for three years now, and Paddy's feels like a home away from home. The staff are quick, inclusive, kind, funny and always take great care of me. Two dance floors, two bars, and two pool tables, plus the large outdoor patio, mean you can always find a place to hang that fits the vibe. Drinks are strong, but not as strong as the love at this bar. Weekdays are a little more chill but Fridays and Saturdays are usually packed.
