Staying at this end of the beach was an adventure in local bars. After walking all the way down to the end of the silverstrand beach, we tackled the mounds of sand to reach the street and this hidden gem. We were there a bit early so we needed to wait 15 or so minutes for it to open per the time listed here on Yelp. We hung out on the sidewalk counting the seconds until noon, only to be disappointed as we walked by and saw a sign in the door that said 1pm. We continued on our way and went to another local bar only to return hours later via car because I had had my exercise for the day. We got lucky in finding a parking spot because this is a small area, so cross your fingers. We found 2 seats at the bar and marvelled at the selection of microbrews. For a Saturday afternoon, the place slowly filled up with locals as everyone watched the basketball finals on the tvs. Bartender was very welcoming as were the locals we chatted with. I'm not much of a beer drinker, but did find something to drink. My partner was in heaven sampling and trying new brews. Would love to return later in the evening to see how this place fills up and to enjoy more of the locals and what it would be like living in this hidden community. So shhhh! I had a glass of Cabernet wine , we were celebrating a birthday. There was only 1 bartender that night. So I can understand he was doing the best he could serving everyone by himself. He did a good job keep us all happy campers. Our group pretty much filled up the vicinity. Its a small establishment, it got hot in there, I had to step outside. Thank goodness its by the beach. Happy to have finally stumbled upon the Beachcomber Tavern which is under new ownership and recently remodeled. I don't venture to this side of town much but was eager to check out this local watering hole with a great beer menu and fun beachy vibes. Parking can be a little hard to come by as it's near the beach but after a little drive around the neighborhood we were able to snag a spot. It's definitely a great location being more in a residential area, I am sure the locals of these parts love having a fun little bar that they can walk to. For tourists it's perfect as it's not too far from the beach and definitely has a welcoming laid back vibe. Walking in on a Saturday late afternoon it was busy inside but with a few open barstools near the back. This definitely seems like a spot for the regulars. I needed to squeeze in near the bar to order some drinks and everyone seemed very nice letting me shuffle in. Vanessa was one of the two bartenders there and she helped me out right away. She was nice and considerate as she ensured we got what we needed. Good service from Vanessa and it was nice seeing that she had good rapport with the locals at the bar top. They have a great selection of beers here that everyone in my party was happy. I opted for the Leashless Coconutz Hazy and my friends went with their favorite Malibu Brewing Rose beer. Beers were cold and the menu definitely had a great variety. Was happy to see a lot of local breweries on tap here. Also they have plenty of cans of classic beers and seltzers to meet your needs. Prices were super reasonable! Love that good music was playing and that they have some fun bar games. The darts boards were definitely a hit and everyone was having a good time. They have security here just to note. Overall it's a cool little beachy bar that's a favorite amongst the locals, glad we finally gave this spot a try and if you find yourself this way and craving a cold beer, this is your place. read more

I was here long before the remodel. It seems it reopened in Feb. You can still smell the fresh paint. 1st walked and already can tell this place and crowd was welcoming. Nice selection of tap beer local and from around the area. Also few fridge full of bottles. Little disappointed that didnt have the classic 805 but it was made up with a nice local beer. Enegren a Moorpark brewery has made their mark here with a Hellera lager. Very cold and very refreshing. Crisp beer. Lota of other beers. I fell into a local gem of Oxnard, was greeted by Erick at the door very friendly young man, had the pleasure of having our bartender George that night, very cool dude. Silver Strand's neighborhood beer and wine bar. It's a cozy little bar across the street from the beach. Normally, an older crowd (40+) hangs out there, but there's always a few 20-something year olds that'll stop by for a drink or two. Not only do they have games like Connect 4 and Jenga in the back table area, but their digital jukebox also takes photo booth pictures! How cool is that?! I felt right at home from the moment I stepped in and was greeted by the friendly bartender/ co owner. He recommended a lovely Pinot Noir which was served in a beautiful long stemmed glass. I entertained myself swirling my red wine and admiring her lovely legs, however there were plenty of games and puzzle type activities for those with more ambition than myself. Cell phone reception can be a challenge but there is a wi fi system available which you will want to hook up to, especially if you are catching Pokemon. Let's start this off simply. This is truly one of my favorite neighborhood bars -- and that should mean something. I've been to a LOT of neighborhood bars in my time. No attitude here. Good conversation and coziness ... the owner Jim B. and his trusty bartender Jorge serve up a wonderful selection of constantly rotating quality beers on draft, micro beers in bottles and superb wine selection. This place just "gets it." Anyone will talk to anyone, no attitude, a smooth jukebox, bar games, need anything, just ask for it. TVs for watching sports, reliable, smoking fast wifi. No food except for cheese plates and delicious popcorn dishes. But delivery is encouraged-share! Lastly, I'll say that what Jim G. has achieved at the Beachcomber since taking it over and renovating in 2016 is nothing short of miraculous. 30 years ago, I lived nearby and this was one of the WORST bars I've ever been in. Now it's among the absolute BEST. This is not a biased review ... I did not know Jim B. until yesterday. But it's all true. Well worth a stop in, but please save me a stool at the bar.
