It's 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 stars. It's a nice concept! There are 3 restaurants sharing this location that's across the street from the San Juan Marriott. A Puerto Rican, Italian, and a tapas bar all rolled into one. There's indoor and outdoor dining. We didn't get to see the upstairs area since we visited during lunchtime. The atmosphere feels like an Italian beachside eatery, but the clientele at that time were mostly there for cocktails. I selected this restaurant for the menu. The country-style rice, or Arroz Estilo Campo was actually very tasty. It had a little bit of everything. A classic rice dish incorporating the kitchen sink (or leftovers). This one was like a Puerto Rican paella. I'd go back just for this. My husband ordered from the Di Zucchero side of the menu. He chose the Pepperone e Parmegiano. He received a pizza with ham or prosciutto which he hates on a pizza. He returned it, and eventually received what he ordered. It was okay, but nothing amazing. The service was pleasant enough despite the miscommunication on the pizza. I'd maybe try it again one day for dinner. There are just so many other newer restaurants I'd like to try if we return again. It's a good affordable option for lunch when visiting Condado. read more

I was very disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. After placing our order, my daughter's meal took an unusually long time to arrive. When I politely asked about the status of her food, the staff brought out an entirely different dish instead of the meal she had ordered. To make matters worse, they later charged us for the incorrect dish that they brought by mistake. Rather than resolving the issue professionally, the manager was called over and began yelling at employees in front of customers. This created an uncomfortable atmosphere and was extremely unprofessional. Mistakes happen, but how a restaurant handles them matters. Unfortunately, the lack of communication, poor customer service, and unprofessional management left a very negative impression. I hope they improve their customer service and staff training in the future. read more

This restaurant is in a little plaza housing a few other restaurants. It's beautifully decorated with a 50's vibe. We opted to sit upstairs and outside - great for people watching. The food was DELICIOUS! Neither of us have ever had Mofongo (a Puerto Rican dish of fried mashed plantains and pork crackling's). I opted for the chicken and creole sauce. The chicken was moist and flavorful. The sauce - chefs kiss! The mofongo was very good. I didn't have anything to compare it to but I enjoyed it a lot. The portion was gigantic. Enough for two to share. The salmon was also very good. It was pan seared with the top having a nice crunch. It was on a bed of molongo mash and asparagus. Flavor explosion! Horrible hostess experience. Our group of 6 came to celebrate a birthday, and as soon as we arrived, the hostess told us we had to throw away our drinks before entering. Her attitude was incredibly rude and she seemed proud to be turning away business. Went there on a rainy night and not super hungry so we sat at the bar and ordered appetizer sample plate. I asked the popular drink on the cocktail menu and the bartender recommended the China Doll. It's fruity and pretty nice. I waited more than half an hour for the sample platter to come which it's a bit surprised as there were only two other tables there at that time. I ordered raspberry mojito while I was waiting and it's pretty nice too! The platter came finally and I didn't expect that large amount of food!!! We only finished half of the whole thing and tbh nothing really wowed me, just normal PR food. It's definitely not on my must-go kind of place but if you want a low key relaxing night with good ambiance, it could be your choice. read more

As we were walking down the street to figure out dinner, we chanced upon Bodegar Wines and Tapas. Upon request for the a table for 2, we discovered that this place is actually a 3-in-1. The menu from Di Zucherro, 1950 Condado and Bodegar Wines and Tapas were all included. We had the option to choose from any of the menus. The rooftop seating was very enjoyable on a pleasant evening such as yesterday. We got The China Doll and Agave Margarita for our drinks along with calamari and bruschetta. I loved my drink and calamari was delicious. The bruschetta wasn't the best but enjoyable. For our mains we got pasta primavera in pesto sauce and it came loaded with vegetables which I loved. It was a little bit salty and we couldn't go through it a whole lot. Service was nice. The server checked on us a few times and the wait time for food wasn't as long as some of the other places we have been to. Loved the decor and the rooftop experience. read more

There are other restaurants I'd rather visit on Ashford for casual Puerto Rican dishes. But, on this particular trip, we made a point to try some place new. This is a 3-in-1 establishment sharing a kitchen with Bodegar and Di Zucchero. We sat on their outdoor patio upstairs which wasn't a terrible spot for people watching out on the street. Unfortunately that and our friendly waiter is where the good things come to an end. The sangria was too sweet to my liking and could barely taste any alcohol. The goat cheese spread from Bodegar was just okay, nothing spectacular. I ordered the grilled salmon with pineapple chimichurri and a side of the mash of the day. The flavor was bland, I had to put a bunch of black pepper over the salmon and the mash. After eating almost half of the salmon, I found the thicker portion of it to be undercooked. Had it been light out, I would've noticed this sooner than getting halfway through it. I don't know if this is a one-off or perhaps the grilled salmon isn't one of their strengths. I had been eating fried food for a couple of days and was looking for a healthier option. The nice thing about this place is that there are three different restaurants and one and you can choose options off of each menu. They were a Puerto Rican restaurant, Italian restaurant and a tapas restaurant. so plenty of things to choose from. We decided to order from the Puerto Rican menu and my son ordered the country style rice "arroz estilo campo" which was yellow rice mixed with beans, sweet plantains, skirt, steak, pork, Puerto Rican, sausage, chicken and chorizo. It was served with fried Tostones. He said it was absolutely delicious. I ordered the Carne Frita (fried pork) which was fried pork chunks topped with onions. It was really good. We also decided to order off the Italian menu and opted to try one of their pizzas. Not a typical pizza you would find in the US but we wanted to try it anyway. It was called Boricua had ground beef, sweet, plantains, peppers, onions, bacon, and cheese. Their pizzas were cooked in a wall oven that you would find in the US and it was actually very good. We waited almost 2 hours for food and when I asked if they forgot us, our food came out right away and it was all cold and obviously sitting there well over an hour. Group of us were staying across the street so we decided to pop over for dinner one night to try some traditional PR food. The Mofongo was fantastic as were the empanadas and I also ordered some battered fish tacos. The portions on the tacos were insane, tons of lightly batter fish topped with a slaw that had some sort of a dressing tossed on it. The bar was a resounding 5. Food and service were a 2. The initial thing to note for first-time visitors is that 1950, Bodegar, and Zucchero are all interconnected. There appears to be one entrance and one host for all three, and we were offered all three menus when we were seated. The 1950 section is on the second floor, with indoor seating, a bar, and an outdoor terrace overlooking Ashford. The host who seated us was brusque to the point of rudeness. Her review of the menu included a long list of dishes they were out of. I felt like our business on a quiet Sunday evening was an imposition, and if it weren't for my wife's patience I would have left then and there. I will say that our table server was perfectly competent, delivering orders accurately and promptly. The one saving grace of the restaurant(s) is the cocktail menu. The sophisticated drinks - and the skill with which the bartender made them - are about three notches above anything else going on at this spot. We highly recommend the Agave Margarita and the Cinnamon Smoke Old Fashioned (technically listed on the Bodegar menu). If you're drinking responsibly and feel tempted by the menu, the pizza (again, on the Zucchero menu) was the best food item we ordered. The Hawaiian had a crisp, lightly charred thin crust that passed muster. Each pie is basically a personal pan pizza; order accordingly. The crab and shrimp tacos were $14 for imitation crab meat. We dissected the last of the three tacos, and found one lonely shrimp. There is nothing on the menu that explains the substitution. Imitation crab is not crab. If we returned, it would be for a drink. We'd have to get to our second or third round before we considered ordering food again. read more

This was a nice spot to eat outside. They have a limited menu during Covid but all in all, our food and service were good. We had the shrimp and crab tacos to start: they were very tasty, but I was a little disappointed that it is imitation crab meat. I had the ceviche for my main course and it was excellent! Disappointed in the food. Disappointed in the decor. I wanted an authentic Puerto Rican meal. The habichuelas were the only good thing I had. The pork was dried out. The rice didn't have flavor. We were not seated in 1950 Condado as we requested, despite the fact seating for 2 was available, we were seated elsewhere where the decor is just wine bottles. The server was nice enough.
