    Shrimp Mofungo
    Jamie M.

I came here on a recommendation from a coworker. Although it is a hole in the wall kind of place, the prices are definitely right! I ordered a shrimp mofungo ($20.99) and Reds ($4) as well as a Coke ($3). My food came out nice and hot and hit the spot! There was a little confusion with our bill since we were paying separately and then they forgot to add the cokes on until after we handed over the cards. (We had 3 different people waiting on us so I think that's what happened). Overall, it was a good experience though!

We came here November 2024 and loved it so much we went back the next day. Returned today and it is still great. Love the food so much and the staff is very attentive! Cute setting too.

We got some happy hour special drinks, 2 for $18. One passionfruit margarita and one coconut mojito. The margarita was so much better than the mojito, that was a disappointment because I love mojitos here in PR. I would def come back for that passionfruit margarita and skip out on the coconut unless I tried another flavor. We also got from fresh strawberry kiwi smoothie juice that was good.

The mofongo was amazing and the happy hour rum punch was really really delicious. I had another. A cool place for music and drinks for sure. There was a little mistake in ordering, I asked for the chicken but got the churrasco. All good

Was assured the Veggie Mofongo was vegan by wait staff. The Veggie Mofongo and pinto beans (from the Veggies, rice, and beans dish) were the standout. It was a bit of a tight fit for four of us last minute. But they made it work quickly.

Decent food. This place was recommended by our tour guide. We had fried pork skins for the appetizer. It came fresh to the table after being cooked. I had the breaded chicken with rice, beans and salad. My daughter had steak with peppers and French fries since she does not like rice and beans. Hubby had the mofongo with steak. The lemonade was freshly squeezed/made and very delicious!

The food was good; it was typical Puerto Rican food. The servers were great and the food did not take long to reach our table. I love the decor; dollar bills were pasted on the walls by the different customers who ate at Los Yeyos; Cool idea. I ate twice, before leaving PR I ordered food to eat on the plane. PS Have the pina colada

The guy outside pulled me in with his "it's Happy Hour! come in and try it" The staff were very friendly and the food was nice and hot. Served quickly. The bar served great drinks and cocktails and juice. A large screen TV with a bumpin' stereo speakers. The servers were young and beautiful and friendly. Facilities were clean . Lots of locals and tourists alike walked in . Cooler inside and still they had theirAC on and kept their fans rotating.

They're open on Christmas Day. The Don Q coconut rum shots were pretty good. Our bartender was attentive and quick. The atmosphere was lively, with menu options like Mofongo. Looking forward to trying more of Puerto Rico's signature dishes next time!

The tastiest mofongo in my opinion, and limonade too. Delicious and so fresh. But the pernil was so salty and the service was a bit choppy. But overall i really liked it.

Our cruise ship swung by San Juan for a couple hours and I had two missions: rum and mofongo. After satisfying my rum cravings we searched for an authentic place to get mofongo. Sadly there are a lot of tourist traps in San Juan (like birthplace of the pina colada? Come onnnnnnn man, do better). But we finally found this place. Unassuming joint that was 1/3 restaurant, 1/3 sundries store, 1/3 liquor store? Manager had Keith sweat on repeat, beers were cheap and ice cold. We were more than ready for the food and DAMN was it delicious! We had skirt steak and roast pork mofongo and a couple local Puerto Rican microbrews. Everything about the meal was incredible, totally low key vibes and great location. I will always recommend this place to friends going to San Juan!

We got a mofongo with crab here as a second dinner (lol we were hungry) / post-dinner snack. My friend liked it more than me, I think there are better mofongos in the city and it was a bit salty, but it was still solid. The interior (especially a side room with lights) was super cute but it was so cold in the restaurant especially as you got farther in. The air conditioning was blasting and it wasn't hot enough outside to warrant it, in my opinion. We didn't have drinks, but the prices looked cheap/reasonable.

We had come here for an afternoon snack and drinks as we were walking around old San Juana and the forts all day and had gone to one fort and ready to move to the next after a bite. This was the perfect meal to hold us over. Not so greasy and not too filling. The drinks were just average but refreshing after hours in the sun. The atmosphere is casual and busy and loud. The wait was usual for Old San Juan. About 30-45mins. They take your name down and call you when there's a table ready. What they don't tell you is that the menu is a QR code on the table. Once you figure that you see a well organized and simple 2 pages menu with many PR authentic dishes listed. The waiter comes about 10-15mins later. And it's best to have all your order ready as they don't come back very often. The place is usually packed all the hours that they're open. Food: that's why they lost a star. Rice and beans, Madurai/amarrillos, scurrilous, delicious 5 stars, but the bigger, empanada, chicken with garlic lack the bite that you come to expect of PR food! They lack taste, "Sazon", they were bland and tasted more like someone forgot to season them and forgot the garlic. I'd tell them to go back to their food and make PR food like it's supposed to taste, not for the tourist, please!

Well good news, the food is still good! I stopped in during the festival of San Sebastian and the restaurant was packed! We luckily got a seat for two and were able to order right away. I order the mofongo de pollo and my friend ordered a different meal with a soup. I am not going to lie, the service was extremely slow and the food took about 30 to 40 mins maybe to come out. I expect this was because of the festival and how busy the restaurant was. When the food came out, it was delicious! The chicken was great and drenched in a salsa criolla sauce. It was definitely worth the wait! After my meal, I ordered a coffee to digest the food. Luckily this didn't take as long as the food. I would definitely recommend this place however if you are in a rush, it might be best to go somewhere else. The food is very tasty!

The restaurant is very small inside but they do have outside dining which is what we chose to do. The service was good, they were very attentive to our needs. Unfortunately, the appetizer we ordered was just awful. We ordered a mix of very traditional Puerto Rican bites-small alcapurrias, sorrullos, chicharrónes de pollo and some fried cheese. There was absolutely nothing good about the mix. The alcapurrias has no meat whatsoever, the chicharrónes were not crispy and the cheese was just awful. I wanted to give them a 1star review but I felt this would not be fair because we did not try an entree and I hope that would be better. The 3star was because the service was good. In addition to the service later on in the evening they had live music which was essentially old traditional Puerto Rican music which was excellent. So to be fair I thought a 3 star review would be the right thing to do. Hopefully the entrees are much better just stay away from the surtido appetizer because it was not good.

We tried a little of a lot of things, kind of a meal of sides to go with our mofongo, and the empanadilla pastry was flaky and light. Hubs liked the chicken one best, I preferred the ground beef.
