    Bar, Oakland A's

Cool dive bar! Lots of Oakland nostalgia, fair, priced drinks and very cool owner, Roy. It was a pleasure speaking with him about the history of his bar, Oakland sports, etc..

I'm sure Roy, the owner, could give two hoots about yelp, but man! Thank you for your hospitality on Turkey day. I hope you and the gents had a great afternoon and we'll see you soon! I'm glad that you were open and cheers to your friend and World Series champion, Dusty Baker!

    Nice to see Roy

October football game he open Sunday ! Go see game and Roy Sunday this month ! You can call ask what time open ? He will good care of you !

Wow .. not that Roy needs any confirmation/recommendations but .. it's/he is simply delightful. Our story, experience .. we were heading to meet my wife's sister for dinner and passed the bar, intrigued ., went back looked inside and decided to change our rendezvous point to here. Only to realize, smoking was permitted .. ' live and let live ' Roy soo kindly allowed my wife and her sister to use his vintage Chevy truck as a ' tailgate ' brought the drinks out and joined the conversation. Honestly, he is a saint and it shines through how much he loves his calling. An absolute privilege to meet Roy and genuinely made our night !

Well, there's a strange right wing vibe here -- fox news blares after 8pm, and the bartender distributes strange anti-global warming literature. That being said, I'm set up with a shot of jameson, a fosters and a pack of cigarettes for $15, the bartender isn't bothering me, and there's no lousy music. It'll do for getting off Bart.

The awesome owner of 19th Street Station...Roy! Hardest working bartender, server, busboy, bouncer, dishwasher around!

What a neat place....especially if you are a smoker. Let me start off by saying that I do not smoke. As a matter of fact I cannot stand cigarette smoke! A friend wanted to stop in here for a drink to show me something I have not seen in a long, long time...a bar that allows smoking. We pulled up a couple of seats along the bar and were warmly greeted by Roy, the bartender and proprietor of 19th Street Station. I asked Roy how smoking is permitted when it had been outlawed. He explained that the law did not pertain to bars with zero employees. Turns out Roy bought the bar in 1982 and is the only employee. He takes orders, makes the drinks, serves them and busses tables. If there is a fight he is the bouncer....but there has never been a fight there due to a few rules he has in place regarding decency and friendliness. Even though I despise cigarette smoke I can give it a pass due to the awesomeness of Roy. I deduct one star for the smoke...but really, really like 19th Street Station because of the owner. I took a photo of Roy in all of his awesomeness!

From the very beginning, the customer service was lacking. Before finalizing my event, I visited the venue in person to ask questions and get a better understanding of the space. The Hispanic male employee I interacted with was unfriendly, unapproachable, and unable or unwilling to answer even basic questions, repeatedly telling me to contact sales. While I understand that sales handles bookings, I expected someone who works at the venue to be able to provide some level of assistance or information. Unfortunately, his attitude remained the same during the event. Several things that had been requested were not set up as discussed, and the overall atmosphere felt unwelcoming. What upset me most was that some of my guests arrived carrying water bottles, and this employee openly told me, in front of my guests, that he would kick us out if he sees outside drinks again. I found this incredibly embarrassing, unprofessional, and completely inappropriate. The experience became so uncomfortable that many of my guests left early. For what was supposed to be a special occasion, the service and treatment we received fell far below expectations. Considering the amount spent, I expected professionalism, hospitality, and a welcoming environment. Unfortunately, we received the opposite. I would not host another event here, nor would I recommend this venue to others looking for a place to celebrate an important occasion.

The inside has a nice modern look and there is a lounge to the side open for happy hour. We sat in there which has its own bar. It is very cozy. My husband ordered a Caesar salad and I ordered the French Onion soup with a bacon grilled cheese. Our waiter started off well but when he came to get our orders he didn't write anything down and I had to repeat myself twice. The first time he was facing my husband, the second he came to my side and I pointed at the menu while slowly repeating my order. I simply wanted a grilled cheese with bacon added no avocado as it is advertised as an add on, on the menu. As he walked away a part of me knew my order was going to be messed up. Low and behold my soup arrives with a side of bacon. I then explained again what I ordered. A few moments pass and he comes back and then my husband explains what I wanted. I'm not sure if it was a language barrier but it just didn't seem to register. I truly did not think asking for soup & bacon grilled cheese would be so difficult. By this time my husband had already received his salad which was delicious. Finally, he comes back with my soup, a grilled cheese and the bacon ON THE SIDE. If I ordered a bacon grilled cheese why would you give me like this? Why not make my grilled cheese and add the bacon inside? To make matters worse the French onion soup was so bland not even salt could save it. It tasted like a nothingness broth. The grilled cheese was better once I made it myself. The waiter never came back to check on us. The manager hovered by for a while but we had to even flag him down for the check. I left hungry and got a meal at the airport. Would not recommend. If you can't remember an order as a waiter please just write it down.

I tried the ginger peppercorn cider and it was very unique, I've never had a cider like this flavor, it's almost like a cross between ginger beer and cider. My friends enjoyed various beers on tap.
