Alex and his team are my heroes! My car overheated before I parked at my eye doctor's office in San Marco. What the heck was I gonna do when I got back in my car? While my eyes dilated, I searched for a repair shop nearby that I could have them check out my car. 1st choice came up with rave reviews on Yelp and Google. I called shortly after they opened and spoke to Alex who asked if I could drop it off. I said yeah and he told me to bring it on by. I did so, he took down my info, and my man picked me up and took me to work. They checked out my car and sent me a text the contained an estimate based on what they found. Yup, coolant was leaking and the water pump needed to be replaced. I approved the work and they did it all. The best part is when speaking to Alex he said my car would be ready by the time they closed. I was worried that they'd close up shop as we didn't get over until way past time but they stayed open and Alex moved my car out of the shop and cashed me out. We've been going to 1st Choice for years now. I've never felt taken advantage of when working with Alex - they are very honest, friendly and straightforward. They do high quality of work with OEM parts. Their pricing is competitive and they are pretty good with communication. The shop is very clean but no frills. You'll notice there's a decent number of cars on property but that just means business is good! I wish they had another shop closer to us but for the quality of service, I can get over the drive. I've had to call to get a receipt from over 3 years ago and they were able to send it over via email immediately. read more

I had a random engine knock on my 2016 Honda Accord Sport. The car wouldn't start for more than 5 minutes. I am lucky enough that I don't need my car on a day to day basis but do prefer having one, but that luxury allowed me to call several auto shops near me. I made a list of all the shops with an above 4.5 star rating called and asked how much it would be to replace the engine if I brought my own (my cousin was able to get me a great hook up, I don't recommend this for most people) This was around Christmas time. 2 places said they won't do it, 2 other places said around $3,500 - $4,500. 1st Choice gave me the third most affordable price from the list. So I went to visit the most affordable price place and it looked like a run down farm. Would not leave my car there and feel good. Second most affordable price wanted to give me back my car February 1. So I decided to go with 1st Choice. Replacing an engine is a very scary thing. They gave me a price, they gave me a date, updated me as they did it and even took a video for me that I requested. For the first time in my life a Mechanic shop was done the day they said it would be done. Was less than a week turn around. I actually had my rental for much longer then needed. When my check engine light came back on, I wrote them and they had me go right back. They are dope people, pros, great work around time and I'd go to them every single time. Professional, knowledgeable and Honest! I took my 2016 4runner on a recommendation from a master mechanic that works at Toyota dealership!!! Toyota techs could not figure out why after a new set of tires the vehicle pulled right, they tried to no avail to fix and align it and finally I was told that is common for Tundras and 4 runners to slightly pull to right and it will always do it from factory.... really I said! I didn't have to wait long and they have a nice waiting room. I came in with a noise coming from my hood when I accelerate and they recognized my transmission fluid was low and inspected for leaks before topping me off. They accept appointments, it was quick and easy, and they didn't charge me a thing! They have a ton of work going on but use appointments to keep the waiting room empty during the pandemic. read more

These guys know Prius's. I called about 10 mechanics asking for a quote on replacing a inverter cooling pump and every single one said "I've never heard of that before and I work on Prius's all the time, let me do some research and I'll call you back." Then of course they never call me back. The other line I would hear was "I don't replace anything without a $99 diagnostic check." In comes 1st choice automotive, I call in expecting more of the same but instead I hear the lovely words "yeah, the inverter cooling pump? Really common issue, there was a recall on them back in 07-2013. It's straight forward but I'll check to make sure that really is the issue before we proceed." He went on to tell me that he was Prius certified and actually used to work at a Toyota dealership. His level of knowledge exceeded my expectations and he didn't charge me an extra $100 dollars "so he could make sure it was the problem." He warned me about another issue with my Prius but wasn't pushy about it. He's earned my respect and will comeback for all my Prius needs. read more
