I have always had a good experience with the optometrists but have had issues with the opticians the past two years. Last year, my prescription was changed such that all the negative powers were entered as positive and vice versa. I had only discovered the problem after picking up the glasses late one Saturday afternoon and had to have the lenses remade once they figured out what the error was. This year, I went in and found out that they no longer supply Essilor lenses and coatings which are my preference. This is because I used to work for the company that makes the equipment that Essilor uses to put coatings on their lenses so I am well aware of the quality of Essilor's lenses and coatings. I was a bit hesitant but decided to get glasses anyway since I was there. They came in about 10 days later but I received a message that they didn't pass a quality check and they were being sent back to be remade. I got the final pair about 2 weeks later. I had only worn them 3 or 4 times when I noticed a small smudge in the corner about 2 weeks after that. I tried removing it with the cloth provided, then with the cloth and water, and finally with lens cleaning spray, always with the lens cloth. Since it wasn't coming off, I took it in thinking they could get it off but they said it was a scratch. To be fair, I did not have the scratch warranty as I've had glasses for 45 years and never had an issue and having worked in the business am aware how to care for them. To me, it seemed like a defect. The optician's exact words were, "Well, you didn't purchase the warranty so there's nothing we can do. Have a good day." And then she walked away. Well, I'm walking away from this business.

For the most part, the Eye Care Center is indistinguishable from a LensCrafters or something like…read morethat once you're inside it. All of the furnishings and products are the same, and even the layout of optometrists places must be regulated by that same dark guild. The service is really what shines here. I dealt with three separate people just in the process of trying to get information about eye exams and contact lenses, and every one was extremely helpful, speedy, and friendly. It's a welcome breath of fresh air after the terror that some eye doctors can wreak on you. They didn't even attempt to hide any of the normally-hidden fees that these places normally go with. All in all, I was very impressed.

I had originally purchased these Oakley's from Optical Reflections and thought I had lost them (later found!). Although I had a good buying experience eight years prior when buying the Oakley's I thought it would be wise to do some comparison shopping. I did a lot on on-line research before going out and actually visiting several optical shops in the Chapel Hill area. I had decided that I wanted to get some Maui Jim sunglasses this time around because as an avid boater, I learned that the Maui Jim's were highly regarded by boaters for their clarity in the marine environment. I found that although some of the other local shops (that carried the Maui Jim brand) were fine, I was treated especially well at Optical Reflections. Fred, (one of the two owners) actually remembered me, which I found amazing since it had been eight years. He was very knowledgeable about all the prescription sunglasses and yet not pushy. The shop had a very large selection and I was given lots of time to try on the various models. He offered good insight when asked but didn't try to steer me toward any particular choice . . . which I found quite comfortable. It took me two visits to the shop before I was sure of what I wanted. Once I decided on the particular model the ordering process was fast, efficient and accurate. I say "accurate" because when the glasses arrived about two weeks later I was thrilled with them. As a professional photographer the visual world is important to me and therefor I'm Ok with the higher cost of a quality optical product. This purchase has turned out to be one of my most satisfying buying experiences in a long time. The excellent service provided by Fred and the outstanding end result have inspired me to write this review.

I was way overdue for a full eye exam and it was getting harder and harder for me to see at night…read more I did not have an eye doctor here so I made an appt with Dr. Wood, a referral from a co worker. I was very happy with the entire process. The staff was friendly, and Dr. Wood was very thorough. The people in the glasses section were great in helping me find glasses that were stylish and looked good. While I was there I saw a Botox special, I went to a dermatologist the first time and had it done by a tech, and it was less expensive here by a doctor. I made an appt for a couple weeks out and am overjoyed with the Botox results!! It was really quick and relatively painless.
