I have always had a good experience with the optometrists but have had issues with the opticians the past two years. Last year, my prescription was changed such that all the negative powers were entered as positive and vice versa. I had only discovered the problem after picking up the glasses late one Saturday afternoon and had to have the lenses remade once they figured out what the error was. This year, I went in and found out that they no longer supply Essilor lenses and coatings which are my preference. This is because I used to work for the company that makes the equipment that Essilor uses to put coatings on their lenses so I am well aware of the quality of Essilor's lenses and coatings. I was a bit hesitant but decided to get glasses anyway since I was there. They came in about 10 days later but I received a message that they didn't pass a quality check and they were being sent back to be remade. I got the final pair about 2 weeks later. I had only worn them 3 or 4 times when I noticed a small smudge in the corner about 2 weeks after that. I tried removing it with the cloth provided, then with the cloth and water, and finally with lens cleaning spray, always with the lens cloth. Since it wasn't coming off, I took it in thinking they could get it off but they said it was a scratch. To be fair, I did not have the scratch warranty as I've had glasses for 45 years and never had an issue and having worked in the business am aware how to care for them. To me, it seemed like a defect. The optician's exact words were, "Well, you didn't purchase the warranty so there's nothing we can do. Have a good day." And then she walked away. Well, I'm walking away from this business.

On occasions when he hasn't been in the office, there are other people available to help. Although, last time I went by to pick up my order when he was out and the woman standing in couldn't figure out how to ring me up. She let me take my lenses with me (thank goodness, as I'm nearly half-blind!), and Tim called the next day to get my credit card number over the phone. It's a fairly small shop, but they do cram a decent amount of frames and even a few sunglasses in. Turn-around time for contact lenses is super-speedy, like 2 to 3 days. The only down-side is that they only accept Superior Vision insurance, so if that's not your provider you'll be paying full-price.

They have beautiful frames and a wide array of choices. This is a LOCAL place with every advantage. I'll be back there for sure the next time I need new glasses.

I can't comment about the pricing complaints mentioned by another reviewer, but you should stick to the mall and big box stores if you're highly price conscious. All of the furnishings and products are the same, and even the layout of optometrists places must be regulated by that same dark guild. The service is really what shines here. I dealt with three separate people just in the process of trying to get information about eye exams and contact lenses, and every one was extremely helpful, speedy, and friendly. It's a welcome breath of fresh air after the terror that some eye doctors can wreak on you. They didn't even attempt to hide any of the normally-hidden fees that these places normally go with. All in all, I was very impressed.

They take more insurance plans than most places in this area and their provide exceptional care It took a few weeks to get in but the exam and fittings are a well-oiled machine with the doctor doing all the testing and exam instead of a tech which was nice. Dr. Sykes is very personable and attentive. He was able to find the right type of contact lens for reading and distance so I don't have to wear my wear my readers on the top of my head anymore. My husband goes here as well and they were very patient with teaching him how to use contact lenses. I like that it's smaller and patient-focused-not like the huge doc in a box places. I'd definitely recommend if you're looking for a place for all your eye care needs.
