i found franz through instagram and was drawn in by his down-to-earth vibe through his page. i immediately felt like i could trust his work after scrolling and made an online appointment which was really easy to do. i chose the signature haircut which i noticed doesn't state male/female cut options and to me, that was important to clarify because most places charge by the gender which i find to be unfair. i believe the cuts should be charged by the style you want provided no matter the gender. (myself being female identifying with a short masculine hair style) so i really appreciated not having to worry about that. upon meeting franz, he is exactly who he is on his IG. just a super cool dude who is so easy to talk to. i felt like we have been long time friends even though we had just met within a few minutes. as we get started, he asks what style i want, i show him a few pictures for examples and he just knows. franz checks out my hair and talks to me about what he sees and what he'll do and that was something that i loved because what he saw is what i felt on my head that i really wanted to get worked on and i feel like most barbers don't communicate with you about their thought process and kind of just do what they want to do without having to educate themselves on what they're working on. while he did run out of hot towels at the end, he did try to find more to warm up but i was okay on skipping out for this session so no worries there! after the final wash, he did a final haircut check to make sure i was satisfied with his work, let's just say that he has me as a life long friend/client/whatever positive word be given. i appreciate your kindness and hospitality franz, may you always be happy and never retire (haha just kidding) thanks again! read more

First cut with Thomas and he did an amazing job. It can be a bit intimidating finding a new barber and getting a short haircut as a woman and one with curly hair. Thomas made the experience super comfortable and was extremely detailed in understanding what kind of cut you want and tailoring one to fit your style. He's meticulous with all he does cutting, shaping, fade. The shop is also in a great location and space. Went back to see Thomas for a haircut. Got a 2 block done back in the summer last year, had gone to another barber in between and it was about time to get cleaned up again. Super easy to work with, quick and on point as usual. Helped to even out the top and even pointed out a few uneven spots where the prior barber thinned out a bit too much. Very satisfied with the cut and probably won't be seeing other barbers in the future for touch ups since Thomas knows how to get it done. read more

"Barber" may be too simplistic for what this crew does. They are so much more. Stuck in your ways? Tell ANY of them how you usually like your hair cut; then ask "what adjustments would you recommend?" They will size you up and turn what you thought you liked into something you love. When you end up coming back, let them know how many compliments you've gotten on your hair ever since. The compliments WILL happen. What's more, Jeremy (proprietor) is a warm, welcoming, loving presence; and a thoughtful human being. He attracts great talent like Thaddeus & Thomas. I feel like I finally found the barber I've been looking for for years: Rye. Why? He really listens. He and I collaborated on the haircut I really wanted, and which has been so hard for other barbers to understand. Also, he is neither arrogant and stand-offish like so many other San Francisco barbers, nor does he talk your ear off. He's that brilliant kind of conversationalist who takes the cues from his customer. I swear he could probably talk about anything. We geek out on The Sopranos. The price is right too. Long overdue review. I walked by this spot almost daily as I live around the corner and finally popped in a few years ago to get my undercut cleaned up and a new design added in. Thaddeus was excellent - convivial, just starting his now poppin' Twitch channel (I didn't know what that was at the time), and passionate as we shared some thoughts on the new cult documentaries we were enjoying on Netflix (how does history repeat itself SO.OFTEN?!). Next to me, I noticed a woman stylist expertly and artistically scissor-molding a client's hair and I was like... I can get a cut AND A BUZZ within one venue? Booked her in for my next appointment. Savannah knows what looks good and I've never gotten a bad cut from her, even booked her in fully masked in her living room during the early days of la-rona. Wise beyond her years and always down to constructively critique my DIY gray panel dye or share some stories of crazy neighbors, this shop feels like home right when you stroll through the doors.
