When I walked in there were maybe six groups sitting at various tables. Lots of room but they wanted to seat me right next to a couple when there were tables everywhere. Once they got me seated the lady was polite, ask for a drink order, brought it quickly and gave me a couple minutes to order. I ordered and one of my orders was popcorn shrimp. When it showed up the popcorn shrimp had been sitting out for some time. Not remotely warm and almost stale tasting. The rest of the sushi was ok but nothing I would bring family back to eat. Went for the all-you-can-eat sushi this past week, and I want to start by saying the sushi itself was amazing. The rolls were a great size, everything tasted fresh, and the food exceeded our expectations. Unfortunately, the service from the hostess completely changed our experience. Shortly after we placed our first order, she came over to tell us that last call was at 2:00 p.m. She then handed us our next order sheet and had written in large capital letters across the top that we would be charged for any leftovers. While we understand and respect the restaurant's leftover policy, the way it was presented felt unnecessary and unwelcoming. When we turned in our second order, she asked if we were sure about what we ordered and reminded us again that we would be charged for any leftovers. She then came back a second time and continued pressuring us to remove items from our order. It made us feel like we were being discouraged from ordering at an all-you-can-eat restaurant. By the end of the meal, we felt uncomfortable and rushed instead of being able to enjoy what was otherwise excellent sushi. My boyfriend and I had their AYCE sushi and it made us sick. The sushi tasted like it wasn't fresh and there were some nigiri pieces that had hard stuff inside the fish. Three of us went for the AYCE option, while the rest stuck to à la carte. To my surprise, the restaurant had no problem letting us mix and match, which is pretty rare. Most sushi spots won't allow partial-party AYCE out of concern for food sharing, and honestly, I don't blame them. But it was refreshing to see a place that actually trusts its customers. Huge respect for that. This isn't a trendy, high-end sushi lounge, but it nails the vibe of a solid, down-to-earth American sushi joint. I went with sashimi, albacore tuna, red tuna, and salmon; and what really stood out was the size of the cuts. These weren't dainty little slices; each piece was massive, easily two to three times the size of what you'd get at a traditional Japanese place. And no, that wasn't a bad thing. It was honestly hilarious how big they were, but in the best way. It made the whole experience feel generous and fun, and it gave me a glimpse into the restaurant's personality: they're here to feed you well and make sure you leave full and happy. This place consistently proves that the original location is always better; not only is the food higher quality, but the service is also noticeably better. My dad and I decided to order à la carte for once since we weren't extremely hungry, but usually, the all-you-can-eat option is about $35 per person. Personally, I've been enjoying their new menu items, such as the TNT and SOS rolls, both because they are deep-fried in tempura batter and because the flavors are well-balanced. We also ordered the American Dream, a mix between a California roll and a Dragon roll, which is both my dad's favorite, and the 9-piece assorted sashimi. We're usually a little shy about having sushi delivered but so glad we took a chance on 21 Sushi House. We ordered 5-6 rolls and they were all fresh, well prepared and delicious. We had one each of the Christmas, Awesome Albacore, Hamachi Jalapeño, Jade and the Spicy Girl roll. Our non sushi eaters ordered chicken teriyaki which didn't make quite the hit the rolls did, but still filling. The fish quality was surprisingly really good! Unfortunately there was just sooooo much rice on everything especially the nigiri. Each nigiri takes two bites bc there's just so much rice. This was my second time visiting the 21 sushi house in Calimesa. I was extremely disappointed and not impressed. I brought two people having different expectations and was honestly embarrassed by our experience, as I really chatted the place up as a great sushi spot. We did the AYCE menu. It took approximately 1 hour to receive our first round of sushi. By the time we put in our second round, they warned us they would be closing in an hour. I've never ever spent so much time at a sushi restaurant in my life. We had to get up every time we needed something: chopsticks, napkins, more soy sauce, etc. I honestly felt for them because I think there is extreme miscommunication among the kitchen and server team but my experience was so so so ridiculous. People who were in our seating section were receiving their rounds timely and much sooner before us. Handfuls of groups left the restaurant within our time there. They didn't have any small plates and offered miso soup bowls as small plates. The sushi came out with a tremendous amount of rice. The slices of yellowtail came out grossly cut and with bones. The miso soup had no seaweed in it. Generally, the quality of all of the fish was fine, just not the yellowtail. We ended up being able to do only 2 rounds out of 3 in a span of 2 hours due to the lack of timely service. I felt that our money was wasted. Would I return? Honestly, maybe, but not any time soon. Visited 21 sushi house for the first time last week and was not disappointed. My girl friend and I were able to get rolls without rice since they have options which include crab instead of the rice. Therefore, we were able to do all you can eat and not have to worry about paying the extra fees for leaving the rice like at other sushi spots. So if you are in the mood for some delicious all you can eat sushi and trying to stay away from rice, this is definitely a sushi spot to visit! I highly recommend the red skin which has tuna and spicy tuna, the awesome albacore, and the baked salmon lover roll. read more

So, I called ahead to make a reservation, but they told me they don't take them after 6 PM. I got there after 7 PM, and there was an entire section open for a "reservation". I'm guessing someone connected to the owner or manager got special treatment. On top of that we still had to wait 30-45 minutes to even get sat. On the bright side, my server was really sweet and said it wouldn't happen again. She apologized, But the other servers and costumers looked stressed and annoyed. I'm a regular, and this isn't usually how they do things, especially on a busy Saturday night. Other than that this place is amazing and I will still go back this has never happened to me before which is why I am upset I would just suggest calling ahead and making sure the wait won't be too long! read more

I wouldn't say this is somewhere to come for authentic Japanese, even the sashimi I'm not sure I would go for. But $35 for AYCE is very fair, they just caution that they will charge for leftovers so order what you can eat. I'd come back if I was in the mood for this specifically again. This was the worst service I've ever experienced at a sushi restaurant. I came in on a Saturday with my son and we were seated quickly, the waitress even took our order quickly. However, service rapidly changed. My food came out before my appetizer (this was also the last I seen the waitress until she dropped off the check). We were not given any utensils. After waiting for some time, I got up to grab my own utensils for me and my son, as well as some napkins. She stood there and watched. She served me a kid sized soda and gave my son the adult water (he's only 3). She never came by to check in during our meal or offer refills, even though our drinks had been empty.
