Tommy and Gidget are amazing, and their cafe/ever-evolving market is my favourite place in town!

The owners are very friendly and informed us that they just started live music on Thursday nights.

One dude in a private group I was in straight up did his own thing, and painted a jazz musician instead of an owl. If you are trying to sit in a group, try to arrive at least 30 minutes early. Don a provided apron, start drinking, check out the other art on the walls, and sit tight. The paint process is tediously slow and most people's paintings end up looking rather different even though we were painting the same thing, in the same order, using the same color acrylics, drawing the same shapes. I'm sad that the wine shop next to Wine, Paint and Create closed because I was totally going to get alcohol there while we painted. For the price I was expecting to paint more technical pieces but if you want to hang out with your less artsy friends majority rules. Check out their website for different classes/paintings on different dates; if you're crafty you can even have your own paint parties using their finished painting as your template. Parking is plentiful and free. Not recommended for those who paint regularly; Highly recommended for those who say that they can't draw.

When you find one you like you are able to complete the sign up process online. I chose to do a beautiful peacock painting on my first visit. The atmosphere is very casual and the staff are all extremely nice. If you would like to indulge you are allowed to bring your own wine and they provide you with glasses and bottle openers. I also noticed that a few customers brought light snacks such as cheese and crackers. There happens to be a wine shop right next door if you would like to make a purchase before the class. In my experience the instructor did move a little fast paced as there is a lot to get done during the time frame, but everyone in the class was able to keep up and everyone ended up with lovely pieces of art to take home. I really enjoyed my experience here and would like to return.

Hot Mess Studios is one of a few great pottery studios in the Wilmington. They have group and…read moreindividual private lessons and parties for on wheel pottery, canvas painting, and piece painting. They have 3 speciality nights you can sign up for in advance. On Thursdays they do Ladies Night Sip & Spin where you get one hour 1 pot, throw as many as you like, keep what you like for just $10 more + wine. Fridays are "Filthy Fridays" where adults 16 and over can sign up for a 7 pm or 8:30 pm time slot and get 1 pot + 1 ball of clay with the option of more at $10 each. On Saturdays they do the same thing but it's family friendly sessions (ages 7+) from 1 - 6pm, and 16+ reservation only from 7-8 pm. They're closed Monday - Wednesday with an exception of private reservations in advance. If you have special time and group number requests I'm sure they can accommodate if you call ahead and plan. They're very responsive, professional and easy to schedule with. I did all my scheduling through email and received prompt responses. The gal running our lesson, Emma, was also so professional and sweet. She's great at what she does and I'd recommend any beginner taking lessons from her. When we arrived Emma greeted us at the door, walked us through the studio, showed us the process and helped us whenever we needed throughout the activity. I had a certificate for 2 hours, 2 people, and 4 pieces each. It was plenty of time and almost too much clay for two first timers, which is a good problem to have. I'm not sure if that special is still running but check their website to see active discounts - they run great deals, often, and are super affordable for what it is! I would highly recommend trying it out or giving as a gift!

Price includes two separate paintings that you and your significant other will paint in class. Ambience: Well lit in order to work on your masterpiece. It was neat how the date night class was separate from the bigger room that was utilized for more of an actual painting class. My wife and I painted two separate paintings but when we put them together it made one big painting. Drink as much wine as you want during the class and good conversation with other customers. Very laid back atmosphere with music and outgoing staff. I look forward to returning here in the future.

The easels are set up with plenty of rom between them and the music is playing in it. Next to that room is a tiny little side room with a long table and all of the easels are crammed next to each other. There was barely room between each easel for us to put our mason jars with water for the paintbrushes. Our instructor went WAY too fast so we all just ended up doing our own thing. Meanwhile the group in the other room was listening to music laughing and having a great time. I feel like it would have been a much more enjoyable experience if we weren't stacked on top of each other and if we didn't feel like outcasts from the other group. I'll probably be sticking to the beads and brushes in Aberdeen after this class.
