Between two people, we ordered drinks and Billy's seafood platter to share, which consisted of shrimp that you can choose the style of, fried cod and catfish, with hush puppies and cole slaw. We got the bang bang shrimp and they were on point. They were definitely our favorite thing on this platter with the size, texture, and flavor all hitting the mark. The two sides hush puppies and cole slaws were also good. The two fried fish was a little underwhelming, with the cod being a little under-seasoned and dry. The catfish was seasoned well and soft but had that sort of slightly fishy flavor to it. I liked having multiple sauces both on the platter and the table (there were a bunch of different bbq sauces, which I'm sure go better with their meat offerings) - the butter and the zing of the North Carolina hot sauce were our top two sauces of the meal. Definitely enough food for two people but I wish there was a bit more on there than just the cole slaw to suppress the greasiness of the fried fish. Service was great and they have a good sized parking lot as well. Can't say anything about their bbq since we had the fish platter but as soon as you get to the parking lot, you can smell the fire going!

The interior is pretty dark with dark woods on the walls, the one picture window in the front, and sporadic lighting throughout. They weren't super busy when I arrived and for a window of time, I was the only guest in the restaurant. I was there for a hot dog and, given the toppings that were available, ended up with cole slaw and mustard. The hot dog came with chips but I asked for potato wedges as the side. The food came out quickly as a plain hot dog on a plate with chips and potato wedges. Clearly we had a bit of miscommunication. I ate a few wedges before the server came by, looked at my hot dog, and noticed things were missing. She went to the kitchen window and brought back a small cup of cole slaw with her apologies. I DIY'd my hot dog and ate it down along with the wedges and chips. The chips were store bought. The Wedges were well cooked with those bites that were crispy on the outside and really soft potato goodness on the inside. I wish I had been offered a refill on my drink during my meal. All in all, it was a fine meal at Farmer's Cafe.

My first visit I think I ordered…read morea calzone, which ended up being decent enough but it's not my favorite calzone that I've had from local Americanized Italian restaurants. This past time I got a 'subasta' mainly because of the extra appetizing menu picture which depicted what looked like a heaping portion of spaghetti meat sauce with cooked spaghetti noodles mixed in. The idea was very intriguing and the picture was so enticing. Plus when I ordered it, I asked for a cup of extra sauce just in case I got skimped. So my table gets their food and my subasta was a whole different story than what I'd been shown on the menu. There was a sub roll, sure, and there were heaping scoops of spaghetti noodles, definitely, but somehow things just didn't translate with a menu item that was clearly advertised incorrectly. On each sub half there were these meat discs that, texture-wise, resembled meatballs and they had a little smearing of plain canned marinara sauce on one side of them. There was a little bit of melted cheese on the opposite side of these meat discs, but they existed on these piles of plain spaghetti noodles jammed between the sub rolls. As soon as I viewed this plate, I was disappointed. I didn't send the order back because I'm too nice in most cases, but I really should have. I also wasn't given the cup of extra sauce that I very specifically asked for. The onion rings were SO GOOD and I found myself wishing I had a huge plate of just onion rings because I was hungry. I ate the sub and pulled off a LOT of the naked spaghetti noodles because there was no flavor or point to them. If I go back, I'm getting pasta (Alfredo to be more specific) or a basic small pizza. I'm not playing around with this place anymore.
