We stopped here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. It was a little busy, no wait and we were sat quickly. It took a really long time for our waitress to come to our table and is the reason for losing one star. The three tables that sat after us had already ordered their drinks and meals before we saw our waitress. Once the waitress came, everything was good. I had a hamburger that was very good and a side or brussel sprouts. The brussel sprouts could of been cooked a little more but they were good. My wife said her classic BLT was good also. Service was pretty slow, my chicken sandwich did not come with any sauce on it like it says on the menu and had to remind our waiter for sauce to dip fries in. Unfortunately this restaurant is a hit and a miss. Love the style of the restaurant but it has some issues. When you sit in the bar area most of the time you don't have an attentive server. As for the food there are times that you have really tasty dishes or you have what we had last night. Rock hard ribs that you can not eat and steak that was seared on both sides and served. Don't get me wrong there are times I like a bloody steak but that wasn't how I ordered it last night. Also, with a baked potato that would barely melted the butter. Excellent rural area restaurant choice. Very good service and nice local comfort food menu. I ordered the best Rueben sandwich I have ever had anywhere on the planet. The bacon addition just took to a whole different level. Nice fish and chips entrée. Cool atmosphere. Great price/value relationship. My family and I stopped in here on our way to see a Billy Joel concert in Charlotte. Turns out the owner, Leon, is a Mets fan from Queens, so we had a lot in common. He also owns the pizza place around the corner! The food was fantastic. My wife and I had burgers (I went with the Cherokee burger, she had the Applewood cheeseburger), and my daughter had the buffalo wrap. We also tried a side of honey bbq wings, and they were amazing. Went for a family Birthday dinner. We were greeted right away and seated. The waitress was quick to attend to our needs with a pleasant smile. Ordered the steak and it was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Others in our party of four ordered greek chicken and chicken Alfredo. The chicken was tender and seasoned well. Also ordered a Bloody Mary from the he bar. A little spicy for me but the waitress brought me a shot of lime juice to add and it was perfect. Great service and food. Place is real hit and miss. 1st time we came on a Saturday for lunch a few weeks ago the steak was the best steak we've ever had. Steak was juicy and just the right amount of seasoning. But on a Sunday early dinner yesterday the steak was way too salty and dry and the baked potato was dry. They also forgot the requested mushrooms on steak. We were just passing through for the night and this restaurant was recommended to us. I can't begin to say how inviting this restaurant and staff were. We were made to feel like family by all the staff. The food was absolutely amazing and the food specials and the draft beer selections were by far the best we have ever had. Thought we would try this place with my parents. Got sat but no one came for 10 minutes. Had to go ask out hostess where they where and then they came to our table. The food was terrible to be quite honest. The chicken wrap had way to much sauce and fell apart and with very few pieces of chicken. Rest of my party was not pleased with their food either. Went Saturday night and it was a fairly decent wait but that's expected. Had one of the male waiters who was also one of the bartenders as well and he was great, food was delicious, and the manager was walking around making sure everything was up to their standards. There was an issue with our Buffalo Chicken dip coming out super late, maybe the ticket got lost in the hectic night but the manager made sure we were taken care of. Absolutely outrageously good! Wonderful service cute ambience. I would have taken pictures of the food but it was so delicious we just scarfed it all down! Drunken muscles wonderful new twist with sautéed spinach and peppers on it! My husband got the 10 ounce Grouper -yes 10 ounces - and it was absolutely wonderful in a crab butter sauce. Too many string beans for him to eat! Also with a side salad. The dessert we got a bananas foster cheesecake. - Which was terrific. I managed to get a small snapshot of that! We really enjoyed our meal at 238 Cherokee Grill. I had the BLT with fries and my husband had the special for the day a buffalo stuffed chicken breast with green beans, salad and sweet natural chips. His meal actually come with the sweet potato casserole and not the chips. We did a substitute for the chips. The food was absolutely amazing. Hands down the best BLT I have had. Good thick flavorful bacon that tasted like it was just smoked. The stuffed chicken breast I have to say though stole the show! The green beans tasted like Thanksgiving, I kid you not! Loved the food!!! The service was perfect. Our glasses stayed full and the waitstaff made sure we were taken care of. The place is clean, updated and very nicely decorated and very comfortable. After three years of amazing service, I need to change this review. Did my family come in on a Saturday night dressed as rednecks because we all worked 60 hour weeks and we were tired? Yes. But we still visited. We came in, our server - she didn't even tell us her name - took our drink order and appetizer. She brought out a sweet tea for my father in law instead of the beer that was ordered and forgot my mother in laws drink. No biggie. Appetizer came out hot and great! No problems. AFTER WAITING AN HOUR AND A HALF, watching folks around us being served, the manager (female with a brown low ponytail) checking on everyone but us, I went up to the host stand and asked her to check on our food and pointed to the table we were at at the host stand. I was as kind as possible because I know how things can go. I went out with my mother in law for her to smoke. We came back and waited another 15 minutes. I went to the bathroom and legit watched our server put in our order. After an hour and a half. Still no food. After watching the manager avoid our table like the plague, we had to yell in the restaurant to even get her attention! She said she would check on it. I said "what can we do to fix this?" "What would you like me to do to fix this?" "Can we please pay for our drinks, beer, appetizer, and side salad we received and then have everything else comped?" "No, we can't. But you'll receive a discount." This sent me over the edge. I told her to cancel the order. While we were walking out she chased us down and said we needed to pay for the beer. She then tried to apologize FOR THE FIRST TIME and said she was training her servers. I've had enough. I told her "I serve tables for ten years and managed many restaurants. You do not give a new server a six table section & expect her to succeed. Do better." This isn't a server problem, it's with management. We won't be back. read more

This place is awesome if you enjoy triggered managers who don't mind serving rotten potatoes (In the form of French fries) to others and then accuse customers (who are small business owners themselves) trying to get a free meal when all they said QUIETLY was "hey I think these fries might be bad" to their server. First visit. Group of six for birthday celebration. Nice building, modern and clean. Seated immediately and waitress took drink and appetizer order. Fried pickles and diablo wings were very good. Waitress took order. One got the Trout, one Philly Cheese and four burgers. Everyone enjoyed their food and the waitress was on the job keeping glasses full and everyone happy. Busboy kept table cleared as we went. Brought out complimentary fudge sunday for birthday gal. Very tasty. We were impressed with our visit to this small town grill. We live in Kings Mountain, we consistently play the game of I wonder if Cherokee is good today. Since the new owner, it has consistently been really bad. We have amazing service because we are regulars but until the pita wheel owner understands this is not pita wheel and you can't send burned food out to customers, it's going to be a problem. I will not go back until something changes with this nasty food. I'm done giving chances. The front of the house staff tries their best but when the kitchen consistently messes up and stops saying it just comes out that way then you still have an issue. I make a point everytime to pay for my food that I can't and won't eat, we tell whatever manager they send to us to tell the cook, they paid for it, you eat which I highly doubt they are eating the shit the send out burned. I am done until they can figure this out! I'll spend my money at 133 as that's the only other choice in KM in my mind. read more

This is the second time my wife and I have been here. Food was awesome! Service was even better!! We haven't found anything bad on the menu yet. Try the 16 ounce bone in cowboy ribeye.
