We could not have been more pleased with our experience at 24 Main this evening. It was our first visit to the restaurant based on our friends' recommendation. The menu was eclectic but intriguing. As was the drink menu. Both did not disappoint. My wife's sister joined the 4 of us for dinner. She has pretty significant food sensitivities/allergies which could have made it challenging for her to enjoy anything. However...Zoey, the chef, the host and another associate (very short haired woman whose name we did not get) were unbelievably attentive, patient and service oriented. They took the time to learn what she could and couldn't eat. Then...and this is way above and beyond anything that we would have expected...they arranged to go "off the menu" to specially prepare a steak for her. They went outside of the restaurant to obtain a baked potato to prepare for her. Wow! Just wow! We were so very pleased with our experience. Wonderful date night destination. 24 Main is a boutique cocktail lounge... hip, on trend yet classically sophisticated/chic. It delivers on providing a nice escape from whatever you need a break from. Worth going to. Their bartenders are attentive and provide well crafted drinks. I recommend a house creation: try uncharted waters. Their kitchen offers small plate appetizers designed to enhance the cocktail experience. The hamachi (raw amberjack) was presented the most creative way- on an edible shiso leaf cracker, however the masago (roe) was sloppy. One piece of amberjack was tough, (chef sent a comp'd new order of it which was then perfect) Side note: do not be fooled by the "kitchen" part of the outside signage..., you will not be finding entrees here. This is more of a true cocktail lounge with a true "small plate" menu items and no dinner menu. Parking: easily available in the back lot, also on the street or in the public lot across the street. Dont be a jerk and park in the pizza lot... What to wear: Id say anything from workplace casual to designer. It is a chic yet comfortable, sophisticated vibe there. Outside seating: will be available soon (weather permitting) They will have fire pits on their side and back patios. My take away: 24 Main succeeds in creating an atmosphere that is easy to get lost in conversation while enjoying well crafted drinks. WOW...What a welcome addition to NA. Amazing cocktail lounge with exceptional signature cocktails in an intimate setting. We were not sure to expect. The sign said kitchen and bar, but we were surprised. I expected a great bar (which it is) but I thought we would be able to order dinner portions. However we got high quality small plates that were delicious. The bartenders do a very nice job and are very pleasant. There is a nice selection of high quality liquors and only a few beers. The magic is in the cocktails; they do a great job. There are tables throughout the bar area for seating and there is room upstairs for small groups. We sat at the bar and I am glad we did. We enjoyed talking to the bartenders and another couple we met at the bar. The inside atmosphere is great along with the background music. They also have an amazing outside area with several fire pits. This will be a very fun place to hang with friends thought the year. Incredible vision come to life. I really admire all the hard work put into this new cocktail lounge and small plates restaurant. It's such an honor to have this right in our own community of New Albany! With that said, I want to preface that it is a smaller and more intimate place with immaculate vibes, an impressive list of cocktails and wine, and small plates filled with blooming flavors and culinary creativity. We tried many of their cocktails, and all amazing. Not a single bad drink we tried, but was most impressed with the plum highball. Same goes with the plates. Everything fantastic. Hard to pick favorites, but that hamachi was to die for! Pave Frites were delightful, but a little under seasoned. Missing some flaky salt on top, maybe some paprika or cayenne for added lift for the actual potato? Otherwise the sauce and how it was cooked, beautiful perfection. We will be back! read more

I was very excited to try 24 Main. First impression of the decor and ambience was great: the bar is impressive with beautiful wallpaper, lighting, and an overall cool lounge vibe. However, service was shaky from the moment we walked in the door. We had reservations for two in the dining room (and confirmation in our email of that), but the hostess said she had a "couch" for us (with no table). Since we were hoping to eat, we asked them for a table and luckily one was available, but it was uncertain for a few. There was some confusion with the menus (we were given one version, and then when it was time to order we were told those were the "old" menus). We decided to start with an appetizer of sliders and pave frites-- the frites came (after a significant wait) and were just ok (kept wishing for a salt shaker), and after waiting longer, we asked about the sliders only to be told they'd not been put in the order. When they finally came out, we'd been sitting for an hour and 15 minutes! The sliders were tasty but a little lukewarm, leading me to seriously wonder what was going on in the kitchen. (Also, no discounts or anything were offered or taken from the bill). Cocktails were creative, smooth, and satisfying-- I would return for those, but would be wary of the expensive ultimately disappointing food service. read more

This is very hard to rate. I'll be blunt honest. Service: excellent. Friendly, attentive without being overbearing. Waitress explained everything well, answered questions, we were never rushed. Can't say anything negative. Ambiance: very nice. Old house converted, looks like they will have an outdoor area as well (small but nice). For the area definitely a different feel which we liked. The tables are small, almost challenging to fit everything on the table. The chairs we fine, no issue. My significant other sat along the wall in bench seating. She wasn't too comfortable there. Said it was a bit awkward. Food: this is where it gets tricky. The flavor and presentation of the food is very good. Again, can't say anything negative about it. The scallops were great as were the potatoes. The mushroom gnocchi was flavorful as well as the chicken thighs. Everything is in small portions, intentionally. So if you're looking for a complete dinner this will be a different experience. I found some items reasonably priced while others I thought otherwise. To charge over $11 for bread and honey butter I found ridiculous, especially when it was about 4-5 slices. It was very good, but for bread, especially when you get three very nice size scallops for $5-6 more, I thought was just bad. I don't drink alcohol but she had one. Small glass, mixed drink, probably about 4oz, and it was $16. Lastly, while we thought our waitress was worth it, they automatically add 22% tip to the check. I'd prefer to have the option to decide based on service but part of me thinks some may be upset with some prices (as noted) and short the waitress. Personally at those costs, the establishment should pay them more and life that automatic addition. I left puzzled, would I go back? Answer is yes, but I'd be aware of what to order. The potatoes were very good, not $14 good. We wouldn''t have alcohol and definitely not bread. But the dishes themselves, the food was delicious and the quality and presentation great. Side note: small parking lot in the back. Can't park at Eagles pizza next door either. I recommend street parking around the corner on High St, with a very short walk over. read more

I've been to my fair share of "artsy" places, and 24 Main is definitely a vibe- the ambiance is enjoyable, and it's beautifully decorated, but the food hardly matched the appearance. It was a bit of a flop. We went there on Sunday, so they've been open for one week at this point. By 6:30pm, they were out of several small plates and bottles of wine. I wanted to cut them some slack, considering they've been open for 1 week but... they had no bread! This was a bad start to our visit. As for the food (small plates), it was a total downer. Like other reviews have mentioned, the Pave frites were very under seasoned- nice crunch, but it tasted like a bland potato. The rest of the food felt just ad flavorless. The chicken thigh skewers were just that, charred chicken. Also poorly flavored. Finally, we tried the octopus which was of the better small plates we tried, but again, nothing impressive.. I think the chimichurri was carrying the taste. Finally, all the small plates arrived lukewarm to cold - especially the pork belly, which was cold in the center. The drinks seemed like the main focus, especially the cocktails. We opted for wine, but the wine list had some new names, and we went for a Natural wine red blend that was... pretty bad. For the price point ($60+) it was a terrible wine. They should really refine their wine list to suit their clientele in NA. Service was good. Gratuity charge is clarified below. In summary, 24 Main fell incredibly short on the expectations. For a place with such a unique aesthetic and ambiance, I expected the food to be just as amazing. Instead it was dull and unexciting. We ended up wasting $200 to leave and get food and drinks elsewhere. It's such a beautiful place, I hope they work on their menu to make better, tastier small plates and refine their wine offerings. We are so excited to have this gem in New Albany! This beautiful restaurant has so much ambience both inside and outside. I read other reviews with concerns about how close the tables were together. I agree the space is intimate but did not feel like it took away from our experience at all. We were seated in between two other small tables and still felt we had enough personal space and were able to enjoy our convo just fine. Our waitress was wonderful and was clear at the start that this was a cocktail and tapa style bar and how many plates to get if we want to just have snacks (1-2 plates per person) vs full meal (about 3 per person). We got 5 plates + 1 dessert and were stuffed at the end. Our favorites were the hamachi crudo and grilled pulpo. Soooo good. Really impressed with the food! For cocktails, I got the pomelo and uncharted waters- they were a teeny bit too sweet for me, but I really enjoyed my husband's plum highball and old fashioned. The service and ambiance were spectacular. The drinks were some of the best drink I ever had. We sat at the bar for HH. Which really isn't happy hour since you're still paying $15 for a cocktail. However, the food was sooooo tasteless. Bread and compound butter - bread tasted stale and you get four pieces for $11 Shishito peppers - cooked to perfection but absolutely no taste whatsoever Truffle popcorn - for $6 for a small bowl I expected the popcorn to be freshly popped. It was not. It was most definitely stale as hell and made days prior. Pave frites - beautiful presentation. Once against absolutely no taste and the cook was uneven. Sliders - bread was stale and the whole thing was dry. It needed some sort of condiment. Lobster rolls - dry as hell. The bread was stale and it's like the warmed the lobster meat up but there was no butter or mayo on it. It definitely needs butter or a aioli or something. read more

Went here for the first time last night! Aesthetically, it's very beautiful! The wallpaper, paint color, tiles, art- I mean it all is just pleasing to the eye. Beauty aside, this place is small! Like really small. We walked in and you're basically at the bar. There is no hostess stand and it felt a bit chaotic trying to figure out who to speak with to check in for our reservation. While we waited for our table, we sat at the bar for a drink. It took a while for anyone to acknowledge us and to get our drinks (we ordered a beer and glass of wine). Once the bartender did speak, she was friendly. The tables were extremely small. Felt almost like a cafe table. It hardly felt big enough to fit our drinks and 3 small plates we ordered. Not to mention the tables being so close together, you almost felt like you're dining with the people next to you. On to the food- we tried the pave frites, scallops and hamachi. The pave frites were very plain- definitely needed more seasoning or at least salt. It felt like I was just eating plain potato- the sauce on the plate was good though! Scallops were really good (3 small ones in an order). My friend had the hamachi and she said it was good as well (3 small slices per order). The food felt pricey for the small amount you get. There is an upstairs but it's a very weird space.... It had two tables and a "silent movie room"- not sure why but I digress. It seems like they could have made the upstairs a more loungey feel, with a bar and more seating but it just seemed like a kind of awkward space. Hopefully they add a bar and figure this out. I also noticed that a few of the owners were in the bar area- my friend and I both thought it was a bit of a turn off that they weren't talking to every guest, but instead were only speaking to people they seemed to know.... Felt a bit exclusionary, especially seeing as they've only been open for a week. Overall, the place is beautiful and it's a unique space for NA. We live here, so I'd go back for a drink before heading out for the evening. I wouldn't necessarily eat here again, though. Keep in mind- they add 22% gratuity to every check, no matter party size! You can easily miss this at the bottom of your check. Hopefully this place improves and gets better with time. It has potential to be a "vibe", but it's not there yet. read more

My husband and I were so excited to have a new spot in New Albany - definitely needed. We got a reservation 3 days after they opened and couldn't wait to experience this place. Everyone was really kind and welcoming. The space is brilliantly designed with every detail touched. It's cozy and elegant but whimsical. The food was delicious - must try the bread and butter! Cocktails were fun and yummy too! Only downside is that the place is pricey for what you get and they add a 22% gratuity already included in the bill. All in all it was a fun date night. Great decor. That's literally all I can say about this place. Food is tapas which are excruciating smaller than normal (and completely over priced) the "salad" consisted of carrots that were julienned and impossible to eat. The papas fritas were cubed russet potato's, super bland. The tenderloin was so awful three of us spit it out as it was impossible to eat, the odor of it was foul. Then no matter if you have bad service, you are automatically charged a 22% service charge. It is appalling. I think a lot of people will try this place and then never go back. This was a truly awful experience - particularly given the price point. The ambiance in the waiting area when you walk in is great - the dark green walls make for an intimate and inviting setting. Unfortunately, we were then led to a small table better suited for a lounge/ drinks than restaurant (more like an end table for a couch than a table for dining). To make matters worse, the small table was so close to the other diners that it was almost easier to follow their conversations than our own. While 24 Main does have an impressive cocktail list, the wine and beer selection is shockingly small and underwhelming, and the cava we were served was flat. I agree with the earlier review that the natural red blend is a travesty to wine. I couldn't even finish it. The first two dishes (flavorless shisito peppers and glorified hash browns) were incredibly unoriginal and disappointing, and the remainder of our food was equally underwhelming - we left the restaurant just as hungry as when we arrived. However, the service staff did a nice job and the enforced gratuity is a solid policy for treating their employees well. read more

We were so excited to try this spot! We had a reservation for 4 people this past weekend. The aesthetic of 24 Main is lovely and a definite vibe. The service was fairly decent, slow at times. We ordered the harvest salad which was the furthest cry from a salad I've ever experienced. Matchstick cut vegetables on a tiny dish, impossible to eat, priced at $13. Scallops were good but the sauce in which they were served was overpowering. The Beef Suqaar was inedible, we sent back and still paid for it. The Mushroom Gnocchi was good. The Pave Frites were good, not great. Bread was good. At this price point, I would've expected much better food. Drinks were expensive. I had a non-alcoholic drink that had very little flavor. The desserts were bad. The chocolate mousse was probably the best but was just smeared on a plate. The Panna Cotta was mismatched in its flavor pairing. The mint gel was unnecessary to the dish. The Banoffe Tartlet was flavorful but very difficult to eat as the crust was almost impossible to cut through. Felt like most of the dishes completely missed the seasoning mark. Now to the 22% service fee. This is not gratuity. I feel like this is almost a way to serve sub par food and still get a huge 'tip'. We ended up with a $400 bill and left hungry. Disappointing.
