We came for the fish and chips and were not disappointed. Two reasonable pieces of fish and not overloaded with French fries. My wife and I both thought it was tasty and arrived right on times. Fried pickles served as the appetizer surprised me. I'd never had them before and they were not soggy but still firm with a tasty batter. The dipping sauce could have used a bit more of something to kick up its flavor, but good overall. If you go ask for a table in Parker's area. Attentive but not overwhelming. Overall, I'd say it was a good experience. We had to park a little far away which usually isn't a problem but it was raining quite a bit. The ambiance was cool but a little dusty around the edges. But I guess that's fitting since the restaurant is called the Rusty Bucket. The food was a bit pricey. The buffalo spicy chicken sandwich was delicious!!! Had a lovely experience at The Rusty Bucket today! The restaurant was busy (game day lunch time) but the service was wonderful, the space was clean and inviting and the food was delicious. We could smell delicious aromas emanating from the restaurant before we even walked in. Keyon was a great server! 1) The Wild Mushroom Pizza with roasted garlic, shiitake, portabella, caramelized onion, spinach and truffle oil. It was so good - I wanted to eat the whole thing but it was big enough that I ended up taking some home. 2) The Bucket burger with American cheese and MR. PLOT (medium-rare, pickles, lettuce, onion and tomato). My fiancé literally cleaned his plate. Topped off with some good old Angry Orchard, I couldn't have asked for a better lunch. Came here one night for a drink and surprisingly loved it! The bartender checked in on us just enough and was funny. The best part is the shrimp bucket on ice. You get just enough shrimp to share and be satisfied. The old bay seasoning on the shell just adds so much flavor. I do appreciate that they keep the shell on because that's what makes shrimp more flavorful. If you like shrimp and do not mind peeling shrimp, this appetizer is for you! The fries that came with my burger was so crispy. The onion rings on the burger added more flavor, but without the onion rings the burger would be a plain burger. I think the wings could have been more crispy, but it had good flavor! read more

Seated quickly on a Sunday at 1pm. Out waiter, Kevin, was exceptional! My partner ordered a bloody mary that he really enjoyed ($8.50). We both got sandwiches. He got the reuben and I got the Italian torpedo. Both sandwiches tasted fine but were nothing special. I also don't love how they make their sandwiches with just chunks of meat. I with it was like layered on. Made it kind of difficult to eat. Again, fries were salty but i think its just the seasoning they used. Good meal for the cost point! read more

I had a great experience tonight at the Rusty Bucket in New Albany. I made a reservation prior to coming earlier in the week but still had to wait an additional 15 minutes but again that doesn't make my review go down as I understand why since I only wanted to sit outside. Our waiter Justin was great! He arrived a few minutes after we were seated and offered us something to drink. I ordered a water but then after my friend ordered a white claw, I quickly changed my mind. Justin came back out quickly with two waters and two glasses for our white claws. We ordered the Pierogis that had polish sauerkraut on and some amazing tasting sauce. The sauce included garlic cream and bacon butter. Highly recommend this appetizer as it was filling but not too much. The order comes with only four pieces which I would have liked more. I was unsure what to get for my entree so I gave two ideas to Justin, one which is my all time favorite chicken fingers and two their amazing meatloaf. We flipped a coin which was so creative and made my night. I got chicken fingers, fries and ranch dressing. My friend ordered the chicky chicky bowl which is loved as well. I like the Rusty Bucket, but not this location. I would rate them much higher on the food alone, but getting in the restaurant causes a drop in my rating. If you want to pick up your carryout order, they have parking right outside the front door which would have been nice if it was just myself. The problem comes in if you need to use your handicap placard parking. The handicap parking is located in the parking lot behind the building, beyond the delivery door entrance for the kitchen. The person I was with using a walker had to struggle to get from the car to the front door, which meant starting in back, along the depth of the restaurant, past a door directing you to go to the front door from the side door. This has to be the furthest we have had to travel get to the front door, much further than the Bexley, Lane Avenue or Clintonville locations. People with handicap needs I understand need some accommodations, but the New Albany location is off my list if I have someone that needs handicap parking in the future. read more

It came with bacon, lettuce, Mayo, and tomato (I asked for no tomato). It also came with their fries, which are flavorful but were very cold at the time of pickup. Some style. Way too expensive substance. For the kind of place it is, I was astonished at Rusty Bucket's ultra expensive menu. And I'm talking everything: even their burgers and my supremely average buffalo chicken sandwich were up there. Also, the place is just kind of boring. They've done a lot of renovation and the bar area is pretty flashy with a new quality HD screen. Other than that, it really is the company you keep because not much else is going on there, which, as many people will tell you, is the story of New Albany when it comes to getting out of the house. Rusty Bucket supporters may point to the patio as its best attribute. I've found it to be crammed and uncomfortable. Rusty Bucket may just be more tailored to families and a more well-off clientele, I'm not sure. If you like the craft beer/import kind of place, I've found Winking Lizard to be a lot more hip with just as diverse a beverage lineup, and more affordable quality entrees. read more

Worst Restaurant Ever My husband and I were visiting OH for a few days. There were lots of restaurants near us and we chose Rusty Bucket. We each had an appetizer. The food were decent, but definitely overpriced for the quality. The server was fair (Not great by any means). We asked for our check and placed the cash with the receipt prior to leaving. We were in the parking lot and someone yells DID YOU FORGET TO PAY YOUR BILL! I immediately turned around and so did my husband. He said the cash is with the receipt on the table. This was the most embarrassing moment ever in public as there were people walking by us! I called and ask to speak to the manager. The lady manager on duty told me that this was not directed toward us and that some teenagers had eaten there in the front room and took off without paying and they ran away from the restaurant. That may have happened, but that server DID follow us out and DID yell at us asking if we paid. I felt the lady manager would not listen fully to what I had to say. Great go to place for lunch or dinner. They have started offering a brunch menu that looks good. Price is average and service is pleasant. It does get busy, so i try and avoid the crowd. Carry out is another great option. I frequently will do that and the quality of food is just as good. They offered daily specials through the week which are always good.
