I just had the WORST experience with a customer service rep at 24petwatch. If I could give no stars I would. I adopted my pet from a shelter that used their micro chip service. His info is out of date including my email so I could not take care of it online so I called. She updated my email and then went into an agressive sales pitch. I wasn't even done updating my info my phone number was wrong too! I basically told her look I'm not even done updating my info and your throwing all this stuff at me. Her response was pretty condescending something like what don't you understand. She then ignored the fact that I still had info to update and again went into an aggressive sales pitch again! I told her look I don't want to talk about this I feel like you are being very aggressive I will look up things on my own and if I feel like purchasing anything I will call back. She then again came at me with high pressure sales tactics. I nearly had to hang up on her. I never got my number updated I was just glad to get off the phone! I have the original info I recieved after adopting my pet from 24petwatch and it simply had my info they had and said if your info is wrong call to update. Their was a seperate paper trying to sell pet insurance, but that was it. No mention of needing to pay a fee for the microchip service to work at all! This is who is suppose to help me find my pet? Their customer service and way of billing is terrible. I have dealt with them the last couple years annually trying to correct billing and the pet insurance policy. First I received a letter saying the bill payment was returned and a charge was going to be added to my policy in Dec. 2012. I received this letter in 2013. I never even received a bill or a notification of a bill through e-statements. I called the number on the letter and the que in line for 2 was over 30 minutes so I asked for a call back with their automated system. I left my name, number, and policy number and they never did call me back. I tried calling back after awhile and never received a response. Three days later they send me an email stating that my policy has been cancelled and they hate to see me go. WTH? SMH, alright...well if you do not want my money then I do not want to give it to you. They never billed me, they never attempted to resolve the issue at the time of the letter, and they went ahead and cancelled the policy. Honestly, I do not want to have to deal with them again so I am just going to leave it cancelled. read more

For over 10 years we have had nothing but excellent customer service. They have paid every claim promptly. If there was missing documentation we were contacted by a representative who helped us turn in the proper documents. Our last 20 year old kitty just passed away and this company has been compassionate and supportive. read more

Price Gouging at it's finest. With absolutely NO, claims my monthly bill went up 20% in the matter of a year. Both pets just turned 5, are healthy, receive annual wellness checks, have had no issues and have another 15 years of life left respectively. 24 Hour Pet Watch offered no real/legitimate answers as to why the increase other then possibly due to age. Age? Isn't that a type of ageism? The only way to reduce the monthly bill would be to increase the deductible? This company is a scam. DO NOT do business with them. Our shelter told us about their free trial which we forgot to cancel (I bet this is how they get you). I wish we never learned about them... We got almost zero reimbursement for hundreds of dollars worth of treatment for our dog. Also, their portal is terribly buggy, they take weeks to review your claim, and their customer service is the worst. And there is no easy way to cancel either. They are way far behind in the ease of posting claims to their websites unlike other insurance companies. Also the microchip thats in your dog or cat from them is crap, they want you to have insurance from them to change the info. It sounds like a bait and switch to me. Honestly, I'm not very happy. I received an email a little while back now telling me that they would be changing company's etc. However, I was never notified that my monthly fees would be changing. I've paid $34/35 a month for almost a year, suddenly its now $69? The emailed response I received did little to make me feel better, only telling me: "These increases reflect the actual costs and frequency of treatments and illness for all insured pets." Problem! I've filed a couple claims over the year and each one was denied! If they're denying all these claims, as many others on the internet claim they are too, what actual costs are they talking about? Now I can't even seem to get a hold of anyone to help me! Phone? No good. Email? Canned response. LiveChat? Wait 48 hours to get said email....I want to cancel my plan but I can't get anyone to help me, I can not afford that amount! If I'd set aside all my payments this last year, I could actually afford to take my dog to the vet now! Do Not ever sign up for this insurance! When I adopted my precious dog this insurance came with a free 30 day trial. When I called 2 weeks into the trial to ask about some vet care my dog will need, nothing was covered because it is all "pre existing". I then said to cancel this insurance it is useless. Then a month later I get a policy in the mail and had already been charged $37 for a months service!! I said this was cancelled! Well Ma'am he says, we will cancel it as of the next month, June 2. A straight-up scam. I got conned into this when I adopted two kittens from a humane society shelter. Unbeknownst to me when I got them they both had conjunctivis and ringworm when I left the shelter with them. I ended up paying for three months of insurance and got zero coverage because the first bill I had (for about $400) was rejected because there is a 3-day waiting period, and then the second one ($300), for the followup visit, was rejected because it was for "a pre-existing condition" -- because of course it was for a followup to the first uncovered expense. So in addition to paying for the kittens and paying for the vet costs, I ALSO paid $75 in "stupid tax" for falling for this con. I am writing this review in hopes that I can at least cost the company a few customers, but I expect that people like me will continue to get scammed. Ugh. read more

Had a mishap with my new puppy and had an emergency visit. The only thing I didn't worry about was the fact that I knew it would be covered by the insurance I got for her. When I called an agent to be clear on how to submit the paperwork, I knew there were no worries after that. I am so glad they have this for your pets now. Why the human society/rescues goes through this microchip provider is beyond me. As the other reviews said, stay away. When my dog's "complimentary membership" ends I'm going to go get her another microchip at a different company. I recommend a vet that uses the Save This Life company. I have had insurance through this provider for 7 years. Everything is fine until you need to use them. Their claims take forever, half the time they tell you that you didnt include all the information because their faxes were cut off. They always want a complete medical history from your vet EACH time you make a claim and every time you do make a claim it takes 4 to 6 weeks to get the money back! I just got a notice in the mail that my policy was going up from $44 a month to $75 a month!!!! I asked why and they said that they are always revisiting and re-evaluating policies. Of course, the only time one of them got sick last year, 24PetWatch reimbursed me 100 dollars (just for the first vet appointment) for a $1200 treatment claiming old condition for the followup appointments. Do not opt in for the "lifetime protection membership." This upselling is misleading in that I was told the cost would be offset with coupons for Petco and Rover. To use the Petco coupon, you have to sign up for their PetRewards program by creating an account sharing all the regular information. I was never told this and won't do it as I don't shop there. Regarding the $40 Rover gift card, I don't need their services and should have paid closer attention. It would be better if 24Petwatch gave us the option to dedicate that gift card to those fostering animals and shelters / nonprofits or low-income and elderly folks who need support. The "sell" was misleading. I wouldn't have paid the extra $78 had the agent on the phone been more honest about the conditions of the offers. read more

Total crap. Awful. Heinous. This company provides microchips to shelter pets, but if you don't sign up for their "membership" plan, they will lock your contact info so you cannot change it if you move, change phone numbers, etc. They hold your pet's microchip hostage. What can you do? Either pay, or don't update, or have a second microchip stuck into your pet. Oh, and when you call about your missing pet, expect to be left on hold forever. TERRIBLE. I have been trying to get this company to send me a check for my claim for months. They have issued and canceled and reissued the check at least five or six times and it has *magically* not been able to get to me. At some point, I was supposed to get a check expedited to me via courier mail and someone was supposed to call me and give a tracking number. But, after I didn't receive the tracking number, I called back and the check was reissued via regular mail delivery service. So cancel asap. They suck. However, there are short hold times when you call. read more

I am very disappointed with my experience with 24 Pet watch. At present, they owe me payments on over $8000 worth of claims. Here are just some examples of things they have done to me. I have had submitted claims which they received be unpaid as they came in after a 90 day waiting period. I have documented that the claims were sent and received in a timely fashion way less than 90 days. They have tried to cancel portions of my policy due to excessive claims on a specific illness. They have changed the requirements of what is needed for a completed claim and after I submit everything they still tell me that I have not submitted everyhi9tng though once again I can document that I have. Now mind you, they did not inform me (or probably anybody else) that the claim documentation requirements had changed until after they processed a claim and failed to pay. Never an email or postal mail indicating a change, nothing. You try to call them and sometimes you can get a person on the line. Other times you're told wait time are long and they will call you back. The call backs never come. I filed complaints with the New York Department of Financial Services which regulates insurance companies in the state of New York and that finally got their attention. But now I have had to do it again two weeks ago. If for some reason that avenue is unsuccessful, I will make a special trip to NY to file against them in small claims court. The amount of money at stake in my case is too large to let just flitter away. I'm not going away. All I want is reimbursement based on what the policy says I am entitled to. But I can't even get them to process claims! Dealing with them is a constant source of aggravation and consternation. I do not recommend them in any way. I do take some comfort in knowing it's not just me who has problems with them. The evidence is pretty clear they will do anything they can to make the claims process as difficut as possible. read more

I adopted a dog that already had this chip from a previous owner. They were helpful in updating the information, and then let me know that I have two options for registration. One option is that they email me when she is lost and then I have to log in to an online account and view interactions that way, which seems horribly inconvenient and useless if I'm away from home or can't access my account, but is free. The other option is that I can pay $80 to have her registered and receive a real phone call when she is lost, and then they throw in a bunch of online website subscriptions and gift cards that I have no interest in. I told them that this is like giving me a choice between basic cable with 3 channels and cable TV with 120 channels for $80, when all I want is to watch the baseball team. It's obviously just a way to upcharge, because I doubt it takes any longer to call me and tell me my dog was found than to enter notes online and send me a text telling me to read my account info. Other companies charge $20 for lifetime registration. read more

The adoptive home of a cat I fostered surrendered the cat back to me. The woman returning him had some trouble trying to transfer ownership in terms of authority to register as owner on his microchip, and had to call 24PetWatch for help, even though there is usually an easy to use link to transfer on other sites. She told me I had to call them also to confirm the surrender before it could go through. When I called, I was told I would have to pay a $22 transfer fee to get authority over his chip info back, but that the fee would be waived if I signed up for one of their monthly monitoring plans. Being that I am in animal rescue work, I immediately recognized that as a scam, the legal term for it being extortion. Never before has anyone tried to charge me for transferring ownership as it would mean many pets would end up going without updated and current owner contact info. Furthermore, I could get an whole new chip implanted for $15, with lifetime access to changes and updates on registration info included in that cost. I called the company I use to keep track of my microchip registrations and they confirmed, NEVER pay for that. They immediately got the number released for me to re-register as well. This is a deceptive business practice that to me is a major red flag for this company. I would hate to think of what they would charge if your pet went missing and you don't subscribe to their monitoring service, which really is not worth the expense (true for any company offering the same). Would they charge someone who found the pet to contact the owner or release owner info? Be very, VERY cautious about using this company. Do your research on them thoroughly first, or better yet, use one who is not looking to cash in by nickel and diming you for things that would otherwise be free elsewhere. No way would I trust this company with the health and wellbeing of a pet. I'm glad I know now not to even think of trying their insurance plans! read more

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. They are trying to claim a puppy that is 5 months old has preexisting conditions, however the diagnosis had never been seen or treated by a vet before. How can that be preexisting?!? I am highly disappointed with this company, they don't cover a damn thing. I have been trying to resolve my claim issues for months now with little to no response and I am still waiting for check that was supposed to be sent over fours months ago. The excuses for why I have had little response are also very unacceptable, while I have understanding for personal issues it is not an excuse to be unprofessional and non responsive. I see many negative ratings here but I have had a different experience. This company paid every penny of my $10,000/year max for my 5 year old greyhound with osteosarcoma. This included multiple x-rays, hospitalization, leg amputation, chemo and even an immuno-therapeutic treatment that was in field trials. A few times I had issues with missing paperwork that I had to re-submit but I feel the company lived up to expectations. read more

I declined the "Lifetime" service purchase and in return, the woman assisting promptly hung up. I'm really frustrated with this company. I adopted a dog three years ago from a shelter and he already had this microchip. I recently switched his information from my sisters to mine and paid for a lifetime membership which was around 84$. I was told if I did that I'd receive a 25$ off coupon for Petco to use on anything in the store if I signed up to be a Pals Member. So jump to me trying to use this coupon at the store... the cashier rung up my dog food and then could not scan the barcode so she typed it in. She then called another associate over because it wouldn't work. The second associate tried to scan it and it scanned but kept coming back as "item not covered"... they refused to honor it because a manager wasn't there and they told me to call and ask why it didn't work. So I do and the girl who takes my call abruptly tells me to go back into the store and find out why they won't accept the coupon and that she has never heard of this happening before. 20 minutes later the manager and her are talking back and forth about the coupon and finally he gives in and just gives me the food. My entire lunch hour wasted simply trying to use a coupon from this company to buy dog food... I don't know wether to believe the coupon was fake due to all the negative reviews of "scams and fraud" or due to the lady trying to strong arm both me to go back into the store and the manager to honor the coupon, or to believe that Petco is dumb and has no clue what's going on. My guess is it was a fake coupon however because if 24PetWatch was "partnered" with Petco then within the 3 years of me owning this dog SOMEBODY at the store would have seen this coupon at least once before. Smh... it's sad that this is how the world works now there's lies, deception, and fraud everywhere. Buyers beware, this is probably not the greatest company. I've been a loyal customer for over a decade (multiple dogs). I just received my premium amount for next year and it is a 100% increase. Yes, that's right. My costs will DOUBLE for next year. And the only explanation they will give me is "costs are rising". Ridiculous. My monthly premium has essentially doubled over the past ten years, and then doubled again in one year. Not impressed at all!!!! They give you one year free for a microchip reg. then after that is it either a yearly fee or a lifetime fee. If you use something like PetLink - it is a lifetime fee of $20. I tried to look up my pet on several sites and those sites don't even search 24PetWatch. When looking her up on 24PetWatch - it showed no microchip. I have since reg. her with PetLink and was able to search for her immediately! read more

Go with another company-- ANY company. Don't be lured by the cheaper policy prices-- you get what you pay for. Not only is this company stingy, with vague explanations, for/with what they will reimburse, they are also extremely difficult to work with. If you call to discuss a claim, you'll have to wait at least 20-25 minutes on hold to speak with someone. They do not communicate via email, except for automated messages that will tell you that your claim has been received...But then, ooops, you get another e-mail saying that there's missing info in your claim. Thing is, their claim submission form is set so that you cannot submit it WITHOUT having pdf's attached to requisite areas (they request the vet's statement of services, and the vet's chart notes from the visit). There have been 4+ times in the past year and a half that I've submitted claims, only to be told later that the claim was missing info. My vet will then go through the same process to try and help me out, and I'll get the same response. If they do choose to accept a claim, they request medical records for the entire life of your pet. You submit another claim a couple months later? (If they don't tell you that info is missing...) They need you/your vet to re-submit ALL the medical records again. Based on all the difficulty and frustration I've gone through, I can only conclude, like other reviewers here, that the reason they don't database the info you've sent them-- and the reason that they tell me I'm missing info in my submission-- is to avoid having to pay us back. I switched to 24PetWatch after taking a new job with a labor union. The union recommended the company, so I cancelled my SPCA pet insurance policy and moved it over to these clowns. Worst...decision...ever. I called the union (UHW-SEIU) and encouraged them to remove 24PetWatch from their list of recommended companies so others people and their pets don't get punked like I did. They investigated and ended their sponsorship within a week due to the unhappiness clients have expressed. Yuck. I wish I had never met 24 PetWatch. Ever. read more

This "service" came with a dog I just adopted from the local shelter. The website is difficult to navigate, I couldn't set up the account online... had to call. Now I know why: super hard sales pitch over the phone. The first person I spoke with hung up on me after I told her I really just wanted access to the online account first before I consider anything else. Hung up on me?!?! The second guy I spoke with was nice enough and supposedly sent me a link to reset the password but then went into the whole pitch again. I let him do his pitch but then explained I really just wanted to log into the account to check the info was right. Still no link received, so no online access yet. Totally crappy experience and shame on them for this scam-like process!! read more

I got 24petwatch because I had a free trial with the adoption. Apparently to cancel it you have to email in. Which on the contract is what it says, it also says you will be refunded for what you didn't use or whatever. Well they called me to finalize the cancellation and refused to refund me for the month I'm not using. Don't use them. They just want your money out of you read more

At a recent vet appointment they tried to scan for her 24 Petwatch microchip and couldn't find one. I called the 866 number and after being on hold for 15 minutes they disconnected me. Great way to do business. I doubt that I can trust that they even put a chip in, so I will have my vet put one in from a more highly rated and reputable company. To think that she was safely chipped when she might not have been at all is truly frightening - thank goodness she didn't run off. I would strongly recommend that anyone with a 24 Petwatch chip in check with their vet to make sure it's actually there. read more

Awful. Our rescue orders microchips through them and my last two orders have been sent to the wrong address, despite filling out the form with a clearly stated shipping address. It's impossible to actually talk to someone who will help you instead of just transferring you because "you're in the wrong department" like 7 times. Do not use this company. I have made 2 claims with them that should be refunded. The first one they "lost" the second page of the invoice (which coincidentally had the expensive procedures on it). The second they "accidentally" grouped my claim with another one and denied it based on the other one. They take an extremely long time to process claims. Like 5-6 months. They also increased my monthly payment by DOUBLE after the first year. If you are using this company, always review your claims in detail because they frequently make mistakes. It seems like it happens so often that it's basically procedure. It seems like they are trying to get away with not paying people back. My dog is dying from cancer and the last thing I need is to be fighting with 24 hour pet watch! :( read more
