I purchased this insurance for my puppy that I adopted. Whaen I have a question they are very helpful. If I had a problem with why a claim wasn't paid all I had to do was call and they help me thru the processess of refiling. They are always there if you have any questions and are more then willing to help you. Would definitely purchase insurance from them again should I adopt another dog. read more

My 8 week old adopted puppy came with a "free" microchip from 24 Pet Watch, which at the time, I thought was a nice benefit. I registered for the free service. About a year an a half later, I moved and needed to update my dog's contact information (phone and address) in the database. I was able to log into the system only to find out that I need to pay an annual free (about $20) or a lifetime fee (about $60) to update any of my dog's info. I called the company and after 20 minutes on hold the representative told me that she could not update my contact info unless a paid the fee. Plain and simple, this is a racket. They get these chips implanted in poor shelter dogs and then don't let the person that adopts the dog update their contact information in order for the dog to be found (isn't this what the chip is for??). It would be very bad for the dog to try to remove the chip and you can't really put in another chip, so you're pretty much stuck paying their fee. If you are a shelter or adoption network, please consider a different chip provider - this company doesn't care about dogs getting back to their owners if lost. If you are considering putting in a 24PetWatch chip on your pet, I'd look at other options like Avid or HomeAgain (HomeAgain will at least update contact info if you call them and I think Avid has a MUCH lower fee to update contact info). Would give 0 stars if possible. Can't call them without being put on terminal hold. They do not tell you upfront that you will be charged a maintenance fee yearly to keep your information updated and available. If you do not choose to use their $18 yearly fee, you can opt for $50 for lifetime of pet fee. These are charges that other pet microchip companies do not charge. Ask questions, research! They charged my card $85 to put it in my name which I DID NOT want to pay and then an extra $20 for who knows what. Total scam operation. I called to register my dog's microchip, whom I told them repeatedly was FROM A SHELTER. They told me it would be $94 to register her microchip. I told them wait a second, the shelter said it would be included. Then it turned into an "ownership transfer basic membership" for $22. I asked the representative where I could compare the memberships and was directed to a page on their website where lo and behold, I learned because I adopted from a shelter, the whole thing should be FREE. Then the guy was just, "Oh if you just looked at the website." Shady tactics and shame on the local shelter for partnering with these charlatans. read more

This is the worst company I have ever been with. I have been trying to get two claims reimbursed since October but they won't talk to me. They want to talk to my vet, however, my vet says that they have nothing to do with the insurance, that I have to do it. I explained this to them and they seemed to understand and be okay with it but as soon as I filled out the reassessment form they denied it again saying that they needed more information about their younger years. THEY WERE RESCUES which I have also told them many times but all they seem to care about is getting their monthly payment and then leaving you to the dust. Don't do business with them. It's a little hard for me to say much about the quality of this service yet, because I only just signed up - so take what I have to say with a grain of salt. I will say that I was stupid and didn't read through the letter I received with my new kitten's information properly before calling to change the information - so I overlooked the part which said that we had a free plan for a year and bought a lifetime plan before I noticed. The person I spoke to did seem to be eager to sell me plans - and may have neglected to let me know that I already was entitled to the free annual plan - but he was not pushy about it. I noticed that some people mentioned long wait times when calling. I may be the exception, but I did not wait long at all to speak to someone - just a minute or two. It also seems like most of the complaints are about the insurance plans with this company. I did not sign up for an insurance plan and am not planning to - so I'm hopeful that their pet finding service will be less troublesome. I just adopted a dog through a rescue group. When I called with the microchip number, which is all the group gave me, I was told they would register her, but that it's only good for a year; then it will cost either $39.95 lifetime or $14.95 per year thereafter. When I had my vet chip another dog, it was a one-time fee which I paid to the vet. They told me that dog is "grandfathered" in, but the new fees will apply to the new dog. This company is nothing but scam and rip off. I've purchased most expensive plan for my daughter's dog with almost a $100 monthly payments. After 6 month a first and simple visit to the clinic cost her a $180. After tons of paperwork, phone calls and 30 days of waiting she got reimbursed $70 ! Beware: If you take the 30 day free pet insurance trial, it will autorenew, and you will be charged. This wasn't 100% clear to me, so I went out of my way to email 24PetWatch via their website to clarify prior to the end of the trial. However, I never received a response from them. When I was charged, I called, and they said they would need a copy of the email in order to refund me for one month. Adopted my puppy on July 14th called to get free 30 days and being a puppy was going to continue insurance until I submitted a claim for a leg injury on July 26th and because vet didn't put "how it happened " they won't reimburse for any of the x-rays, meds, or continued ongoing treatment. After paying premiums for 4+ years, I forgot I even had it, but I remembered finally to submit a claim for a normal check up. This place is so lame, they couldn't check with the vet themselves to get pet exam history. Why try to get that from me? Haha, ridiculous, anyways, they rejected my claim, after 4+ years of paying premiums. So I'm trying to cancel out, but they were closed tonight. After years of their auto charging to my credit card, yes they keep the policy going by autocharging, but this year i'll block it if they try to renew again. So crooked. Update: Cancelled today 11/6/14, the guy I talked to online was polite and he just asked why I was cancelling, no attitude, very calm and sounded nice. He said the policy is cancelled and should expect a refund of unused amount. So unlike a lot of other posts, I didn't get any drama at all. I just canceled our 24 Pet Watch policy....let me tell you why. First and foremost, their claims payment system is a joke. 56 day turn around time to get a claim paid...and mostly everything is not covered anyway. Every time I have called to inquire about a long lost claim, the customer service folks always say the same thing: "we're trying to get better and reduce the claim repayment time to under 30 days..." Whatever. In hindsight, my wife and I wish that we would have searched out reviews first before throwing our money away on this awful policy. 20 bucks a month for 15 months. $6 in paid claims. read more

I am so impressed with the quality of service I've received from 24PetWatch! My poor kitty was hit by a car, requiring an emergency surgery and hospitalization. I was so relieved when 24PetWatch processed all related claims quickly and without too much red tape. Nobody tried to "explain" why certain things weren't covered the way I've had human health insurers do. We went to a Vetco clinic at Petco and got the chip because it was only $15. Once we tried to register, we found that 24PetWatch charges $84.95 to register for life or over $20/year. We registered our other dog for free with PetLink. The SPCA only charged $35 to implant the chip. read more

This was the company that was used when I adopted my dog and I've always logged in yearly and updated my information and my pets information along with a photo. When I logged in this year my pet wasn't registered under my account. I called and they said he was registered under a different account and I need to pay them a transfer of ownership fee to have him under my account. They stated that the microchip number associated with my pet was never under my account. That can't be so because like I said previously I've been logging in for years now and updating his profile. I have all the forms from when I registered him originally with the company which I will be sending in to them. But I have registered my pet on other free registry websites as well to be safe. Very good turnaround on payments after submitting (usually 2-3 wks). Have worked with this company for years and they have only improved their services over time. Website is pretty good - you just submit claim right there - except have had some tech issues with character limits in field to describe pet condition. We have had 24PetWatch for over 10 years they are a great company who pays their claims with in a timely matter. You do not have to go to a specific clinic you pick you own Vets. I had a dog who had GME with over 20K in medical claims I was reimbursed based off of the policy. I highly recommend any one who purchases a puppy to get the insurance from day one. I hope you never have to use it,preexisting conditions are not covered so you have to keep that in mind. read more

This is my second experience with this company. The first time, they claimed they couldn't find the proof we'd obtained the dog from the pound, since we took another back to get her. She had heartworm. We paid the whole cost out of pocket - not cheap. This time, I called and was told the agent was not licensed in my state and I would be called back. I was assured I had plenty of time. I even received an email reminding me on the day they were to call back stating I had 24 hours left, though I was told I had several days. Unfortunately, the shelter I got my cat from almost 5 years ago didn't know the policy of 24PetWatch before using them to chip the pets they adopt out. I went to update my cat's information after I got divorced and I had to pay $84.95 just to do that! Also, it tells you that it didn't go though and you end up keep clicking "continue" when it has gone through! I got charged twice before I decided to check my credit card! I decided to register her with freepetchipregistry.com instead and will be calling my credit card company to stop the payments in the morning. I suggest that you register your pet right away with another company, so when the trial period is over you don't have to worry. read more

My experience is similar to the other reports below. You go to your vet and you try to do the right thing by microchipping your pet. You pay for that service. No one tells you however, that you need to pay MORE in order for your membership to remain "activated". First year is complementary but after one year, unless you PAY, your account is locked. Your contact will not be given to anyone who finds your pet, and you can't access your account even to update your personal details, like change of address or new phone number. These people are predators. They get rich on people's fear to lose their pet. I am told there are microchip providers out there who offer lifetime coverage with your microchip. I thought that was what I was buying. If I was a vet, I would only accept to use microchips from these providers, and not from the scammers. read more

This organization is not to be trusted. We were provided with the "opportunity" for a 30 day free trial for insurance on our newly adopted dog. We thought this would be worthwhile in the event something came up that was not caught by the initial exam from our local humane society. We cancelled the insurance at 30 days with no claims made. They continued to bill my credit card for several months afterward and have refused to reverse these charges after being requested to do so by saying they have no record of our cancellation. Love this insurance. Bear had to have acl surgery and has some additional unrelated chronic issues. They paid 85 percent of his $4000 plus surgery. Can't complain. My plan is $5000 per illness per year and resets every year. When you're going through something with your pet children, you don't want the added stress of I can't afford this. This insurance made a world of a difference for me. For me it's worth the monthly payment as opposed to one large payment to my credit card or the interest payments over the time that it will take me to it pay back. read more
