Highway robbery. I adopted a dog a little over a year ago and she was given a 24PetWatch chip. I have since moved but I am unable to update my information without paying an $85 "lifetime" membership, What a rip-off. I am going to investigate getting this chipped removed and getting re-chipped with a company that really cares for my girl, Since the chip was implanted at a rescue, I should be able to update my information either for free (chip was purchased?) or a nominal, affordable fee so my girl can be returned to be should something happens that separates us. You can enter your animal's chip information and freely update the information (such as new address) without paying for it. Those two services are what microshipping is all about - making sure pets make it back home if they are lost. DO NOT USE 24 PET WATCH. I have 3 dogs - 2 microchipped with 24 Pet Watch. I live in a rental house and have moved a few times since adopting my dogs. I was quite angry to discover that the only way I can change/update the address on my dogs' chips is to pay their absurd fee for a life time membership. I understand completely that companies need to make money, but that is what their insurance side is for, not their basic pet microchipping. The real kicker here is that I was considering getting pet insurance for all 3 of my dogs through them, but have changed my mind now that I know that I cannot even updated my address without giving them a huge chunk of money. Awful. Go with ANY other pet insurance company. Unresponsive customer service and when they do get back to you, they're less than helpful. My dog passed away and I cannot get in contact with anyone to cancel and get reimbursed for the MONTHS I have been charged for a deceased pet. Disgraceful. Also overpriced for their awful coverage. Denied to coverage costing for a potential disease because my dog didn't have it. Which is bonkers. That's why I have coverage, to help pay for those tests. read more

Ran into a problem at first with them but it appears that I may have been dealing with a representative who was not as knowledgeable and experienced as he should have been. Finally dealt with someone who was willing to make this work and I am satisfied with them so far. I called their number to speak about registering my dog's microchip. I tried to do it through the website but kept getting an error message. I had been informed by the rescue through which I got my dog that it wouldn't cost me anything to update the contact info for the microchip. The man on the phone said that rescues don't always understand the in's and out's of microchipping, and then he proceeded to give me this long lecture about why it would be crazy not to purchase a membership. He began to raise his voice and it made me really uncomfortable. He was super pushy, so I told him I would call next month when I could afford the lifetime membership. Horrible company. I lost my service dog, Gracie, 2 days before Hurricane Ian hit us. As if I didn't have enough to deal with in losing my loyal friend of 10 years and, literally, picking up the pieces of my home, I did have the presence of mind to contact 24 Pet Watch. I canceled on October 11th. Late last night I received notification from my credit card company of a charge from this Company renewing my membership. Of course this stirred up every emotion again when I am barely keeping it together. If this was the first time perhaps I wouldn't have reacted this way, however, they did the same thing when my Izzy passed. Having said that, when I receive notification of a missing pet from them, there is never any follow up. Nothing about "still missing" or "found". I emailed them last night as no one was available when calling. This morning I called and was told to call back tomorrow as that department was closed. I was contracted with 24 PetWatch for 15 years with our Boarder Collie/Mix. The Call Center people are great and very personable and professional. BUT....BUT......The Underwriters I think attempt to put 24 PetWatch out of business. Our pet was vey healthy for the 15 years, but as the Underwriters critique each claim....over 1/2 were rejected as they all stated a CSBUS. Which means they need more information or they do not agree with the claim. Their generic emails tell you NOTHING as far as what they possibly still require or what the problem is. We started with Purina Pet Insurance which was a great company to work with. Then 24 PetWatch bought them out and it has been a disaster. Claims lost, fax's never found, claims delayed for weeks. The only help was the "GOOD OLE" CALL Center". I have no idea how they can put up with what they have to attempt to solve for the Underwriters. The Underwriters in 15 years never spoke to us......."Case Closed"!!!!!!! read more

I registered the chip with my address and contact info. 1.5 years later I go into my account to update the CONTACT INFO and it says I have to pay a one time annual fee?? I just added her to freepetchipregistry.com where both my dogs have been registered for years and everything is free with them (no matter how many times you need to update info). If I could give zero stars I would. This company is scamming people. I called to transfer my pets chip over to my name and they made it seem like I had to pay to do so. I went online and read that it was free and I shouldn't have to pay. I called back and was told there are no refunds. I had to downgrade to a lower "plan" and have that canceled after I pay that. We are very very upset with this awful company. Thankfully we are able to pay that and not be screwed, but I feel for people that they are completely screwing over. This company seems like a scam. I called to ask about the benefits of the premium life chip plan and they basically said if I don't buy it, the service will be terrible and they refused to provide a timeline for how long information would be communicated online. They said if you have the plan, they will contact you right away, but if not, they would not update the site for an indeterminate amount of time. I purchased the plan but have not received any information about whiskerdocs, the vet consult servuce that I supposedly have access to now. I will have to call. Instead they want to sell you bullshit pet protection and insurance. Why offer a microchip service if you don't actually do it? I've lodged a complaint with the Los Angeles Animal Services Department. When I called to initially update the chip I was surprised to be upsold to. I declined and created the account over the phone. I logged in and discovered that information I did not want shared was there. I called back and was connected to Lamar (24petwatch). Before I could state my request he launched into an upsell spiel. Told him politely I didn't want that but he continued. I cut him off and stated my request. He then said, "Don't you care about your pet?" I asked to be transferred to another rep but he said I've have to call in again. I asked to be transferred to a manager but he told me that I'd have to wait 24-48 hours for a response. Entirely unacceptable. 24petwatch seems to be a upsell scam with hard sale tactics. read more

It was always a big hassle to deal with them and they would nickle and dime me for everything - even going so far as to claim almost all issues I brought my cats to the vet for were "preexisting" and they wouldn't pay for any treatment. Then they dropped me suddenly without explanation. I paid them thousands and never got my money's worth.This is a con game. read more

My vet has tried to help submitting things directly as well and taken time to write letters to them and it doesnt "count as a medical record", despite one being from a family vet and one from an internal medicine vet. The customer service regarding their microchip registration and membership is essentially a brick wall. If you adopt a pet with a 24PetWatch microchip, honesty, figure out a way to get a new one if that's even an option. If not, MAKE SURE you have official transfer of ownership paperwork. I registered my dog's microchip after adopting her from neglectful owners. It was a difficult enough process to get the previous owners to transfer the ownership in the first place. When I finally got access to her records, I went straight to our new vet to get her vaccines, check her health, and scan her microchip. Fate gave the both of us a shit hand when it ended up being a 24PetWatch chip. When I got home to register the microchip under my name, I was surprised to find no question of ownership when I initially typed in the number. I rightfully assumed her neglectful owners never actually registered the chip after adopting her from a shelter 5 years before. They never really cared for her and handed her off to a neighbor to find a new home. So why would someone like that also spend the $106 it takes to register the microchip? Well I was very wrong. All I would have needed was to call her previous vet to get the proper form. But I didn't know, and they successfully got my money without making this known and sent me a receipt congratulating me on my lifetime membership with the number. The next day I attempted to sign into my account to add an emergency contact. I was unable to sign in because I essentially didn't have an account. After several emails back and forth, a call to her previous vet (who was happy to send the form but recommended a free microchip registration website), more emails that included a confirmation they would refund me, a 45 minute call to this pathetic excuse for a company, and two months later, I have never been refunded. For starters, I've read some negative reviews about claims being denied. I will say in my experience with 24PetWatch, I have NEVER had a claim denied. And since they have been with the new underwriters, their claim turnaround times have VASTLY improved. With that transition, however, their rates also increased, but they seem to be in line with other providers I've checked with. It just seemed like a huge increase, since the rates were extremely low before. They will increase your premiums if you have a lot of claims, but I'm guessing that's to be expected of ANY insurance company. And most, if not all, of the pet insurance companies won't allow pets with pre-existing conditions, so you're kind of stuck with the one you're with (and trust me, they know this). Overall I'm happy with their service. My only advice to any pet owner is to do you homework before going with ANY of these companies, and see if spending the $$ is worth it to you. I think of it like my own health insurance...I have to pay to have it, hope I never need it, but it's there when something happens. Same with the pet insurance. Ours isn't exactly cheap, but one major surgery can easily cost you $5k or more, and then this really pays for itself. We had one of those a couple of years back, and they covered 80% of the cost. Did not verify pets chip number with me or previous information to confirm it was the correct pet. Did not get my pets color correct over the phone and there is no way to change it online. read more

Extremely bad service. I found a dog with a microchip and reported to 24 petwatch. They attempted to call owner 1 time and never attempted again. I have tried calling 24petwatch customer assistance and have continually been disconnected after 30 mins on hold with a message saying "There is no one available to assist. I think I will return the dog in the area where I found it. I can not keep dog because I have other pets. I don't want to drop it off at the local animal shelter because they are at capacity and will euthanize the dog. Terrible service. read more

I've been with them for over 7 years and I have been extremely pleased. My cat was diagnosed with small cell lymphoma about 2 years ago. The company never turned down any of my claims. They cover a large part of her bills including medications. My cat also had a basil cell removed and a few ER visits and the company never turned down any of our claims. What is really impressive is how quickly they reimburse. Of course, since this is pet care we have to put out the money first, unlike people insurance where they bill your company. I highly recommend this insurance company. I used to be with another company so I do have some experience with this. And, I recommend anyone with pets to get insurance. My cat was only 9 years old when she got her cancer, and happy to report she's in remission. read more

My dogs MicroChip was switched to a person that stole my dog. Who steals a dog?!?!? HAVE SOME INTEGRITY!! I was NEVER contacted by the company and neither was the breeder when they changed my dogs ownership with FORGED documents. I presented the Original bill of sale AND the original microchip paperwork from when my dog was chipped. I paid a fee and had everything fixed. Then I received a call from Oscar telling me ownership was going back to the thief because they provided more forged documents. I presented A Court Ordered Document from the Superior Court of CA issuing a civil stand by to acquire my dog from the thieves, because I provided the court with proof of ownership. I have had my dog back in my possession since December 7th thanks to the Citrus Heights Police Department. This company is SHADY AF and will sign your dog over to anyone. Don't re-chip your pet, register the number on a free site such as www.freepetchipregistry.com. When my daughter graduated college her dog came to live with us. We attempted to update the chip information through 24PetWatch. She was advised her dog's chip had lapsed and that she would have to pay an annual fee to update and to keep it current. She was told they would not have provided her information if her dog had been lost. This company cares about money, not pets. The dog was adopted from The Pets Alive! shelter in San Antonio, Texas and was required to be chipped by their vet prior to adoption which took place February 2015. I want other customers to know the chip means nothing after one year unless they register the chip number on a free site and that they don't have to pay this company a dime. If you don't have the chip number, your vet or local shelter can scan your dog for free. read more

Just got off the phone with a high pressure salesman with whom it took about 6 repetitions of "I want to cancel this trial" for him to finally relent. Was supposed to send me an email confirmation. Never received it. Faxed them a request for confirmation. Not answered. Would give zero stars if possible. Stay away! read more

I assist my sister Janice Difalco as she struggles with Mental Health Issues. We decided to get the top tier package for her puppy to ensure she didn't have to worry. After a year of payments to this company we sent in the invoices for the year. Out of over a $1000 in pet bills they sent back a response saying they would cover $0.00. Frustrated, and not knowing what the point of paying for the highest level plan was I questioned it. The response back was that the claims were denied for a completely different reason. This time they said it was because the claims weren't filed within 90 days of receipt. While I admit we should have filed more promptly, this ultimately amounts to robbery in my opinion. Expiry dates for valid claims should be illegal (just like they are for gift cards) or at the very least have at least a one year period to claim. I paid for the insurance and they find loopholes to get out of paying. We are in the process of cancelling and advise you to stay away. There are other pet insurance places. Policy AP11546301 Dog Tex I'm on the phone with a terrible operator who sounds like he is high or half asleep. I filed an insurance claim for my dog Tex. I've waited over 3 weeks for a response. I received an email that says its COMPLETE. I go to the status and it doesn't give any detail. I called the service rep and he says that COMPLETE means that "they have nor received a response from the vet" which doesn't make sense. There is both an email, phone and fax number on the records I sent, why haven't they tried to reach them that way. How is COMPLETE complete if they don't have the information they need? Then he says that I need to send the entire health record of my dog. I've had this dog for TEN years and moved 6 times with him. Additionally the rep says that this is my first claim which isn't true. I've been a member for TEN years, as long as I've had the dog. Why do I need to send this entire records (meaning I have to call 6 vets across multiple states) to get coverage for an injury that is NOT related to a preexisting health issue? He hurt his eye and had a laceration. BOTH have healed. Also, the amount in the system in incorrect as its not what I submitted. read more

I have been with this company since at least 2008. At least 5 pets with them. They just got bought out. I signed my new pet up. They deducted two payments and only reversed one. They told me they refunded both. Not true. I put a hold and dispute and cancelled both policies. They couldn't even find the new one when I called. Don't bother. read more
