If you like art at all, I can guarantee you'll find something in this adorable business. They have handmade work from all over, and there were so many things I wanted to take home. Ceramics and pottery, jewelry, woodwork, metalwork, glasswork, paintings, cards, wall art, and so much more is available. The worker we talked to while there was so nice, and said that they ship as well. There are some things that were absolutely out of my price range, but there were a lot of things that were also in my budget. I really like the area, and this shop only sweetens the deal. read more

If you're like me, you may have assumed this was a kids store by the name. But it's not! Inside Wild Oats and Billy Goats, you shall find tons of goods made by local artists. Someone actually told me a while ago I should go since it seemed like my sorta shop, but I've only made it in recently. I'm already thinking about how Wild Oats and Billy Goats will be a Christmas present jackpot, especially for gift recipients who don't live in the Atlanta area. Items for sale include jewelry, soaps, paintings, cards, pottery, and way more. The lady working seemed really friendly too. I suggest popping into Wild Oats before or after a meal at a restaurant in downtown Decatur. It's open daily, and there's another store in Roswell. Local + handmade = awesome! read more

We were in town for the Decatur Beer event and we stumbled across this gem in town. What a great store with lots of art to choose from. We picked two items and since we weren't quite ready to go home, the shop keeper offered to ship the items home to us. Sure enough, the items arrived the day after we got home and we love the pieces that we selected. The store sells genuine Georgia items. read more

After having brunch with a friend, we decided to take a little tour of Decatur Square area and ended with Wild Oats & Billy Goats. When I first walked up to the building, I thought it was some kind of kid's store. But is actually a gift shop. You can find art, pottery, jewelry, stationary, etc. There are a number of unique finds here. However, there wasn't much that was up my alley and items were more than I would regularly pay. Nice place to walk around see what is being offered though. read more

While exploring the square one early(ish) morning with a friend, we noticed that there was a group of people waiting in front of this store, before it even opened. Intrigued, we wandered towards it and into a nearby store until this one opened up. It's a cute and quirky store, with a bunch of items created by what I can only surmise to be local artists. There were prints, original paintings, pottery, jewelry, soaps and candles, etc. A bunch of mediums have been used advantageously here: anything from recycled things into quirky lamps, to wood, metal, and paper. It's a cute store, and has been priced according to the artisans who created the things, so everything is fairly expensive. But at least it's handmade locally, and each thing has a slightly different look as handmade things to have. If you're looking for a gift for someone, I'm sure you could find something here relatively unique to the giftee. read more

I just attended one of the studios that they have. It was amazing. Even if you don't think you are an artist just walking around the gallery will inspire you and you get to use that inspiration to create a piece. Bethany makes you feel welcome when you walk in the door. The owners Hugh and Weatherly were there as well this time because of the Beach Blast that was going on in the street in front of the gallery. They take the time to answer all of your quesitons about any of the artwork and worked with us to make our pieces of art, giving suggestions for the best ways to apply certain components when you asked how to do something. You can tell they all love what they do. The gallery itself is amazing. Beautiful colors and amazing pieces of art. All unique and made out of stuff you ordinarily wouldn't think art could be made of. Truly inspirational. Visiting Wild Oats and Billy Goats made me want to visit Decatur more often. read more

There are many, many kitschy boutiques in downtown Decatur offering sort of junky tchotchkes with cutesy slogans--kind of Grandma decor. This is NOT one of those boutiques. Wild Oats and Billy Goats carries genuinely cool stuff at really reasonable prices from local artists. And I'm not exaggerating about the prices. I took a friend of mine who's also a local working artist there, and she was horrified and kept asking, "This is only $X? How can the artists be making any money??" I absolutely love this place and it's my go-to when I need to grab a gift for a friend and I'm not sure what to get. It even smells nice! read more

Pack up your imagination and head over to an amazing place. My son recently had his 10th birthday party with these fine folks. They were top notch. Please support this local gallery and shop there, party there, or just go by and check out their collection on fun, funky folk art. Best bang for the buck birthday party I have ever hosted...all our guests would agree. The owners, and staff made our little fellows birthday great. Not to mention the piece of art we have displayed in our home as a reminder of turning 10 (no plastic bag of junk as a party favor) a treasure to enjoy for a lifetime.
