I treated my grandson to 2Fifty today for his birthday. We are both bbq lovers and we had never been there before. So glad we went - the food was amazing. We had a huge sampling of almost all offered. Every bite was delish. I almost didn't order the pull pork cuz it's usually blah but not this one. So very flavorful whole hog experience to include the crunchy skin bits they mix in - the best! Again all the meats and sides were terrific. The staff was so nice and the manager was very attentive and personable. She answered all our questions and made us feel at home. Hope this place never changes. I lived in Texas for years and got spoiled by the amazing BBQ down there. And I've been unable to find a spot outside of TX that does it the right way, until now. Hands down the best BBQ I've ever had in my life. Everything was delicious - the brisket, the Dino rib, the whole hog pulled pork ... even the sides were stupid good. I mean ALL the sides. Have you heard of a restaurant in 2024 that doesn't allow for online ordering and also doesn't allow for phone orders? No? Let me introduce you to 2fifty, located near downtown Washington DC (with extremely limited parking, BTW. Let's go! So, when you walk up to the location, they have a little sign that says that the service is fast and that there is no online or phone ordering. We were standing outside the door, waiting for the line to move. I checked the time and it was 1:59 PM. Oh, there's also a sign that says that they're open from 11-8 daily or until food runs out. That becomes relevant. Read on... The line moved... slowly. As I said, we started in line at 1:59 PM. We got up to place our order at 2:36 PM. That's 37 minutes waiting just to place the order. We got lucky with parking in front of the location, as trying to find parking in DC is a job in itself. At around 2:25, they posted a sign saying that they were out of turkey (smoked turkey breast is on their menu). So from 11 AM to 2:25 PM, they sold out their turkey (which I wanted to try, BTW). Fine. We ordered our food: a pound of wagyu brisket and a pound of beef ribs, cornbread, brisket beans, sweet potato mash, and Mac and cheese. The food was good, in spite of the snail service. There's another location in Riverdale, Maryland that has better parking, and online ordering. I'll head that way next time. If you have time, patience and a parking space, go ahead and try your luck at this location. read more

I am always skeptical of brisket outside of Texas, but this place is pretty legit. The wagyu brisket was nice and fatty, with a good amount of smoke. The bbq sauce is also excellent. The poblano sausage was just ok, but I'll definitely be back for the brisket. read more

The place was decent but the prices and deals are outrageous and not worth it. Honestly, if you're looking for better barbecue with good deals Hill Country or Federalist Pig are way more affordable and tasty in DC. Not even a quarter of brisket and a half chicken with two sides was over $50 without tip. Definitely not a good deal here. As a side note, the servers also tried to upsell us and charge $30 for brisket. They staff was also rude and unhelpful. I wouldn't recommend this place and I don't think I'd go back again. read more

We catered our Thanksgiving with 2Fifty. No longer need to cook for 12 or more when the family and friends have dispersed. We hoped somebody would join us, but sadly the two of us ate alone. On the plus side, more leftovers! We got a tray full of brisket, turkey, and sausages. Sides were the corn dish, corn bread, and the mashed sweet potatoes. Everything was smoked, spiced and seasoned to perfection. There was a minor issue when my order went in for a 10:00 AM pickup. A quick call resolved that and everything was ready at the requested 3:00 PM. I'll use this option for Thanksgiving again. I can't speak to ambiance, other than to say it was efficient and friendly in a pickup only situation. To quote Arnold, "I'll be back." read more

Finally tried this place today for lunch and it was incredible. I got a half pound of the brisket, mac and cheese, and fire roasted veggies. The brisket was very tender and juicy. Loved the pickles, onions, and jalapenos provided on the side. They added even more interesting flavors. The mac and cheese is a must have and the fire roasted veggies were amazing, and had a very savory somewhat buttery taste to them. Next time I will try the cornbread and potato salad. My SO got the lamb nachos and banana pudding, and he loved them. We came in on a Saturday afternoon and there were still a couple tables open and no long line. I loved how takeout boxes were right next to the napkins and utensils, it was very convenient. My SO is from Texas and this restaurant got his stamp of approval. Recently moved to DC. I'm from Texas so I'm definitely hard on judging quality BBQ. 2Fifty BBQ is the best BBQ I've had outside of Texas and definitely in the DMV. I find a lot of BBQ joints only focus on the meat and the sides are usually mediocre BUT not at 2Fifty! Those beans & sweet potatoes were ON POINT and the star of the sides show for me was the MAC. It tastes like the kind you'd get at grandmas house or a family reunion. The brisket melted in your mouth, the sausage had a nice flavor/snap to it and the ribs basically fell off the bone. I have a new favorite spot for BBQ that's a home away from home. read more

Bbq was very good. Sides were yummy too. I would give the food 4-4.5 stars. I am deducting stars because of the price. I got 1 slice of brisket with nothing else included and it was $11. I wish they had a combination. Each side was small and $7. I got 1 slice of brisket and 2 sides and it was $25. My son had the lamb nachos and that definitely was a better value.
