Rolling Cow is a Korean food truck that you can usually find in the George Washington University area. I've been following this food truck for some time, and with a day off, I was finally able to check them out! The menu consists of your choice of Ssam (in a rice paper wrap filled with rice and your choice of meat and greens), the LunchBox (rice with your choice of meat and greens), the Hoagie (an 8" toasted sub stuffed with your choice of meat and greens), or a Salad (with your choice of meat and greens). The meat options are: bulgogi, chicken, or samgyupsal; the greens are either a Korean fruit and vegetable mix or a traditional southern-style coleslaw. There are sides, too, such as adding a fried egg or kimchi; you can also up your meat to a double portion of meat or do a half & half. We ordered 2 LunchBoxes - one with bulgogi, double meat, with a fried egg and kimchi, and one with samgyupsal, double meat, with a fried egg and kimchi. Boy, these were SO GOOD! The bulgogi had the right marination going on, and it was savory and had a good soy sauce/garlic taste to it - juicy, not too fatty, and great with the kimchi on the side. The samgyupsal was actually my favorite, as who doesn't like pork belly; the marination of the spices was on point, and this was also pretty delicious with the side of kimchi. I appreciate that the rice was cooked well - thank you! The staff here are SO friendly and SO nice - they take your order and call out when your order's up. There are some hot sauces that you can add, but the meats are so flavorful, you hardly need anything else! Watch out other Korean and Asian-Fusion trucks, because some stiff competition is rolling your way. That competition is Rolling Cow, and man, they popped onto the scene with a solid menu, great customer service, and a snazzy and clean truck! While they may need to streamline their ordering system a little, the individually prepared food is delivered hot, fresh and in huge serving sizes. To top it off, the dishes are prepared with aesthetics in mind too as my pic and others will show. Overall, Rolling Cow is a great addition to the DC food truck scene and I look forward to trying their pork next time. Only downgraded to a 4 as they will improve as they get into the groove of it. I wouldn't say that the individual meats, rice, salad, etc are the absolute best of DC, but the combination in such generous portions is easily in line with the best that our city has to offer. I decided to celebrate my Friday the best way I know how, a delicious food truck lunch! Rolling Cow was a solid contribution to my Friday partay. Rolling Cow has the ever so popular style of choose your style, choose your protein, etc I went with the lunchbox ($11) which is rice, your meat, and your choice of salad or coleslaw. I chose bulgogi with salad. My food was done quickly and I was in shock at how heavy it was! I took it back to my desk and was truly amazed with the amount of food in my box! I am telling you, I could have eaten it for lunch for three days! The bolgogi was perfect. Delicious flavor. Huge portion. I could not stop eating it. I started taking some bites of the salad with my beef and found it to be tasty as well! In the future I will probably opt to pay the $1 for the egg on top. After I finished the salad portion and going HAM on the bulgogi, I had to throw in the towel. My fiance will appreciate the massive portion of leftovers, I am sure! Food trucks are one of the most interesting things to me when it comes to food. Each food truck is unique in its own different way. So my coworkers and I always go out and try to find the best one! Today we decided to go to rolling cow after we saw their portion size. Now initial perk about rolling cow the meat is cooked to order and you get a lot of it. Draw back it takes forever (30-40minutes)... So I decided to get a lunch box which is meat on top of rice and you can get a side or salad or cole slaw. I then got a bunch of extra stuff! I got the half and half option since I wanted to try both meats. I got the bulgogi (thinly sliced ribeye marinated to perfection) and samgyupsal (sweet and savory pork belly with mild spice). Then, I got an egg and kimchi. However, I asked if they could fry my kimchi and they said we sure can which got me excited. However all that excitement eventually died since it took about 35minutes after I ordered to get my food. Working in dc normally people get 30-60minutes for lunch. So I wished they had let me known a rough estimate of how long it will take for the food beside "we will cook your protein next" Since I waited so long the cashier gave me a free drink and another side of kimchi which was very nice of him. My food looked amazing! I got so much meat, rice, and the extra eggs were definitely worth, since you get two eggs. After getting back to my office I then began to try the food. The bulgogi was well marinated. Same with the pork, however what bothered me was the small pieces of cartilage in the samgyupsal was still there. Since the pork was finely sliced it was hard to see so I ended up biting it a lot which was very unpleasant. The eggs I got it sunny side up and the creaminess took the dish to new levels. The cooked kimchi was nice as well. The coleslaw kind of got lost in the dish for me, maybe since the food was so seasoned a more tangy coleslaw would have made it a more well balanced dish. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys good food trucks because this food truck has amazing food and great customer service! Only thing I would take caution of is the wait time. Rolling Cow...Holy Cow. Ok, that was corny but really, what a great truck this is. Finally, a Korean food truck that delivers authentic Korean food. You can tell this truck is legit just by the smell of the food emitting from the truck a half a block away. Bonus points for having rice ssam (rice wrap) which a lot of Korean places don't carry. It's such a great ingredient and I'm surprised most Korean restaurants don't offer/carry it. It's definitely a great substitute for tortillas if only because it's something different and a lot of places use crappy tortillas. I got the chicken ssam and it was HUGE. I was honestly shocked at how big it was (TWSS). It did fall apart fairly quickly which sucked but I mean, how can you complain when they overstuff the ssam with meat and veggies? The hot sauce it came with had a nice kick to it too. I do wish they offered different types of sauces, at least a thicker or creamier sauce but the meats and veggies had plenty of flavor to them. The food is really good and it is super authentic. What I would recommend is getting the chicken rice plate and get it with side of salad. You can get the fried egg on top if you want. There is one person taking the order and one person who is grilling the meat, so the average wait time is about 5-10 minutes for your order. Because they grill different meat each time, so they often do all the chicken order, then the pork order then the beef order etc. I would not recommend getting the side items such as kimchi because the portion is kinda big. I wish they could just give it when you order. I got the half beef and half pork lunchbox with a salad and rice. They load up on the meat so this will easily be eaten as my lunch tomorrow as well. This softens the $13 price tag I paid! I think if I didn't do half and half (different meats) it would have been around $11. Since it was my first time I had to try both! The beef was crazy good. It had amazing flavor and wasn't too fatty. The pork was great too but definitely on the fatty side. Both meats had rich flavors and were tasty and juicy. I chose there after reading all the feedback from yelp and since they are food truck, they move around and i could find them only after making a phone call to find out where they were. They were right outside of marvin center. (If u follow their tweeter, they make announcements everyday though) The menus were simple. We were two people and were very hungry. Ordered beef and pork. Alex the chef was amazing and so is his biz partner. (Didn't ask his name :() Very friendly and kind enough to offer us samples of the meat Alex was cooking. Went to marvin center food court to eat our food cuz it was really cold outside. Opened the lunch box and they were really amazing!!! Pork is little spicy but at the same time sweet and juicy. Let's start off with the fact that I'm a huge Korean BBQ fan. I've eaten at Iron Age, Kogiya, Honey Pig, and few other places. I can't count how many times I tell my friends that I'm always craving for it. I discovered this food truck years ago after my friend and I were walking around the Air and Space museum when we saw a line of food trucks nearby a metro station. My first experience with Rolling Cow was memorable because apparently we were their last customers for that day. During that time, we ordered a lunch box with Samgyupsal and Salad. They even offered a free fried egg for us and a free drink with our meal. The person that took our order was generous and kind, I never receive a customer service like this with a food truck before! After finally seeing them again at China Town, I took the chance to grab a meal from them after all these years. Order: Lunch Box - Fried Egg (Extra), Half Bulgogi/Half Samgyupsol (Sadly costs extra too) with Salad Flavor: - Meat was well marinated and I liked how they add sesame seeds on top! They also cook it right when you order it so it tastes hot and fresh! Beef was lean and the Pork Belly had more towards the fatty side. - No dressing for the salad. It is also no separated from the meat and rice so it's not convenient if you're trying to microwave leftovers the next day. - Korean rice usually comes out moist compared to the way Vietnamese people cook their rice or the typical white rice that you get from chipotle, but I liked how it came out. I just didn't like the fact that after taking a couple bites of the rice, I saw how much grease was just chilling on the bottom of the Tupperware :c - Fried egg came out sunny side up, just the way I wanted! Absolutely Delicious! Went to The Rolling Cow based off of a recommendation and I was not disappointed! I got the Lunch Box with Bulgogi with eggs over easy added on top. The beef was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The eggs on top added a nice element with the runny yolk acting as a condiment. The rice bed picked up some spice from the beef and soaked up some of the egg yolk... which greatly enhanced the rice's flavor. I ate this dish in about 30 seconds because it was so good. One of my favorite trucks after the first visit. My office is right by Farragut Square so lunch options are aplenty. I don't go to food trucks every day, but I've tried a number of them and the other day Rolling Cow caught my eye. Hands down the best food I've ever had from a food truck along with the best Korean BBQ truck in DC. I got the Bulgogi wrap and the taste and quality of the beef was better than some established Korean restaurants; I've been to a lot of spots in Annandale. The marinade really pops with this great taste and flavor. The beef came in a good portion with nice heavy pieces. The wrap had hot fried rice that was just cooked and crisp fresh salad. It was best tasting food I've had in a long time. Being in a wrap makes it a very unique experience. Even the side of Kimchee was bangin. Fresh, red juicy pieces, homemade feel. Everything blew away and exceeded any expectation I had. These guys also make their own chips which are borderline addicting. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu. read more

After asking some questions, GS and I each tried the Saam and it was so yummy! They have several options of meat and veg. I got the sweet + spicy pork belly, asian veg, and rice wrapped in lettuce and rice paper (they also have bulgogi or chicken with coleslaw as veg). Besides the Saam they also have the lunch box option or the hoagie as vessels for the same options of meat and veg. Each option is $10-11. The service was really great. You get an option to add a fried egg to your lunchbox, which, DUH, who would say no??? But Rolling Cow does something weird. They salt and season the egg and fry them over hard. GUYS, WHY? Eggs are perfect. Fried eggs on rice are a little slice of heaven. Why mess with it? What you're doing doesn't add much - the meat is already super flavorful! The overly salty, overcooked egg really detracts from an otherwise awesome meal. Please reconsider just straight up putting a fried egg - no seasoning - in its simple perfection. Delicious, huge portion! Come hungry! Ate at Rolling Cow while it was parked at GW and got the Ssam (signature rice paper wrap) with chicken and salad. The wrap actually stayed together and had great flavor. The greens tasted fresh, and the meat was well seasoned, tender and had the perfect amount of spice. Altogether it tasted like authentic Korean food. The price is a bit high for a food truck (S11 total) but it was well worth it and like I said it was a big portion. I'm Korean and love me some spicy pork belly and this is a MUST if you are able to try it! It's probably the best I have ever had - super tasty and juicy! I got my daughter the bulgogi lunch box and she loved it - she can be a picky eater but she put a good dent in it! They have other options to add on - the fried egg and homemade kimchi are to die for! If you like spice, try their special sauce - it'll add some heat for sure! I highly recommend getting the fried egg as a topping as it was the perfect compliment to the overall flavor of the dish. The chicken was perfectly cooked, juicy, well-marinated and flavorful. The portion was pretty big as I was able to eat my leftovers for dinner. :) The line was moving fast and the staff was very friendly. I was impressed by how fast they were moving given they prepare all their meats fresh per order. The price point was incredibly decent for the quality and amount of food I got. I have paid more at previous Korean BBQ restaurants for smaller portions and not-so-amazing flavor profile. My overall rating of this truck is inspired by the excellent food quality, flavor, generous portions, and great customer service.
