Garden District always delivers: consistently excellent food, beer, wine, service, and atmosphere. Also very dog-friendly. They serve up some of the best BBQ around. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but their fried chicken sandwich is phenomenal (a constant craving). They have a thoughtful, intriguing, well-balanced offering of beer, and perhaps unexpectedly, a delightful and unique selection of wine, and they make an effort to secure some limited releases and other special, novel, or somewhat rare items. You can also find cider, liquor (including some approachable, good bourbon), hard seltzer, and non-alcoholic beverages on the menu. GD are good people: the staff are welcoming, knowledgeable, and on top of it, and provide excellent, no-frills service that keeps the food and drink moving and the vibe laid back. They give a damn about their business and about you. Also, even at their busiest, the bathrooms are clean and stocked, which is a testament to their diligence and care. With the prime location, ample outdoor space, and wide appeal of beer garden fare, GD doesn't have to go as hard as it does. Garden District would be my go-to spot just from the dependably excellent food, drink, and convenience alone, but above all, it is their diligent and friendly staff and the easy, convivial environment they work so hard to provide that keeps me (and basically everyone I know) coming back. That, and my apparent addiction to their fried chicken. FYIs: It's outdoor patio self-seating, mostly large shared picnic tables and some smaller 2-4 tops. Usually not hard to find a spot and people are friendly and generally willing to make room for a small group/pair when it's packed. Order with QR codes at your table, but you can also order from the bar. Service is pretty quick. Self-serve water from either of the two jugs (there are sleeves of plastic cups next to them), which are constantly refilled with fresh, cool water. There are powerful, ample heaters for cool days, and huge umbrellas for mild rain. On days with heavy rain/severe storms, they may close--check their Instagram @thebeergarden for updates.

I'm on a mission this holiday season to hit every single festive bar in the city. This weekend I went to Garden District which was beautifully decorated with all the things one needs to feel cheerful. Plus it was outdoors for ~maximum ventilation~ & had heaters for the chilly nights! That being said, I also like to leave my house a maximum of one time a week lol so i don't know how feasible this goal is but its nice to dream! I had a chicken sandwich with jalapeño coleslaw but I was so hungry & ate it too fast before taking a good picture

Came here for a quick drink while waiting for a reservation at Le Diplomate and this place came thru! We ordered 2 different kinds of beer. I ordered the tiniest size because I was about to eat brunch so I didn't want to fill myself up with carbs haha. My boyfriend is obsessed with German beer and he really liked this place a lot! The place was a small beer garden in the Logan Circle neighborhood. It's by a corner street and there are only outside seating so don't go when it's raining. There are umbrellas covering the chairs so I guess you can still go when it's not raining as hard. We sat by the picnic tables connected to the tree and I love people watching from there. I believe you can order wine too. I also saw from other reviews that you can order a whole pigs head barbequed and eat it, LIKE WHAT?! I want to do that, I will update my review when my friends and I do that haha! But it said you have to order in advance because they only cook 2 pig's heads apparently. This place is definitely great when the weather is nice. Not sure if there are bathrooms but there are fans attached to the door walls that will provide some air during hot weather. Definitely would come back here again to try the other beers and also to try out their food menu (hint: bbq pig's head)

Loved their beef brisket sandwich! It was the best one i had so far! They're also very generous about the amount of beef they put in their sandwiches! Highly recommended...

Love this place. Nice outdoor beer garden. Simple. Good service. Good beer selection with a simple food menu. Chicago dog was amazing and onion rings were great too. Definitely recommend.

Great selection of beers - seasonal summer selection is very refreshing to enjoy outdoors on a balmy summer afternoon. The area is really busy but we don't feel pressured to eat or drink quickly. We ordered a few rounds over the course of a few hours and had a really relaxing time with some friendly service. The grilled cheese required a much longer wait compared to the drinks.

14th street continues to rise from obscurity into the next "go to" neighborhood in NW with the addition of it's own Beer Garden. Just in time for amazing temperatures, the Standard gives German and American beer staples in a no frills out door location on the corner of 14th and S street, a location that used to be a Garden District store (now across the street in a larger space). Thier beer menu is short, about 10 beers, 5-6 on tap but with Heffs, lagers and IPAs from microbrews both domestic and international, they have everything you'd want, taste wise, for a good price (between $5-10 for a liter)! There is some inside seating at bar stools but the best part of the garden is to snuggle up to their large wooden tables with some friends (or make new friends). They have wall mounted heaters for cooler evenings, and they are building additional seating along side the building. The menu has some sausages, BBQ, pretzels and fries for nosh, but the very small upstairs kitchen was quickly overwhelmed and they stopped taking orders when we arrived! Fast and friendly service and the dire need for more outdoor seating spaces on 14th street guarantees this place a strong client base through the fall! I can't wait to return! I just hope they add a few more bathrooms!

I decided to walk over from campus and order two different bowls to try one with beef bulgolgi another with spicy pork. I enjoyed both and felt like they were a hearty serving, definitely more than I expected for the lunch special. Service was great, friendly and pretty fast. The ambiance reminded me of a typical Honey Pig KBBQ feel just with a comfier waiting area with some reclining chairs, rocking chairs and couches. If you enjoy Honey pig flavors you'll definitely enjoy the bowl lunch options for a quick take away option!

I think $38.99 is a fair price for all you can eat. I like that the portions are small so too much is not wasted. This was also my first encounter with the delivery robot. That was cool. I don't like that it has other people's food on it though. I was sitting close to the kitchen so my food didn't have to travel too far but, I wouldn't want my food traveling across the room and making stops at multiple tables before getting to me. I'm from the South and I need a bit of flavor so I did add Salt and Pepper to the items while cooking. The salad dressing had no flavor. I ended up using the yum yum sauce as a dressing. The dumplings were good. The cucumber salad was also good. My favorite hot item was the steak and shrimp. The brisket was mostly fat and the thin pork belly was like Prosciutto. My only suggesting is serving the noodles closer to when the hot items are ready. They get stiff if they just sit. Oh, and I think you need separate tongs for seafood, pork, chicken, and beef. I was worried about cross contaminating. I'd try this again.

I liked the modern industrial interior (exposed ceilings, cement floor), complete with bespoke woodpiles. Super cheerful service. BIG portions (with an extra side, each entree is a meal for two), everything hand-made, many nods to modern American cuisine such as the care they spend on sides and the well-crafted cocktails. Amazing how many things you can smoke. Now, drinks and food. Nothing liked a smoking whiskey cocktail, people sitting next to you will stare in envy (as well they should). Wife's grilled pineapple mojito was topped with such a large mint sprig, it was positively horticultural. Along with the complementary cornbread, a great start. My barbecue expert's half rack of St. Louis-style ribs was trimmed and plenty moist, with six BBQ sauces to choose from. Lots of pickle slices (cucumbers in any form are perfect with seasoned meat). I had the "signature dish:" plank-smoked salmon, wild rice & roasted Brussels sprouts, a superb adaptation of the art of barbecue to a healthy piece of fish. Interesting chat with Chef Darneille about the challenges of the restaurant scene. Appreciated his honesty, he appreciated our business. Even as he had a party of 60 to attend to (there were just enough tables to accommodate us). And, only a block from Metro, making for a short run through any rainstorm. The brisket is the true star of the show: slow-cooked over an open flame, it's fall-apart tender with just the right amount of bark and smoke. This spot isn't just about the meat (though, let's be honest, you could stop there and leave happy). They've also turned part of the space into a mini market that sells fresh local produce, prime cuts of meat, a curated wine selection, and even small-batch ice cream. It's like a one-stop shop for food lovers, whether you're dining in or taking a piece of the experience home. The atmosphere still nods to its past life--exposed beams, condiment stations, and vintage signage add to its cool, industrial vibe. It's the kind of place that feels both laid-back and unforgettable, perfect for a casual lunch or impressing out-of-town guests.
