Stopped for lunch, rice was not fresh, day old fall apart deli counter style. "Chefs" used very loosely here, unprofessional just rolled out of bed... Hostess/waitress, "how many?" "Just one" "sit wherever" and walks off... Other waitress, not mine describes the special soup as some weird veggie, literally. Then the lame surcharge for payment, nope. I've never had anything "bad" from this restaurant. However, you cannot expect the same quality ingredients you'd find in a busier city close to the ocean. Their noodle bowls are good but no very consistent. I find everything a tad too expensive and they are often out of a number of menu items. Overall however, not bad. read more

Second Street Sushi is a terrific place to eat in Hamilton. There food is excellent, the wait staff is very friendly and the place is clean and nice looking. And I used to live in Seattle. Congratulations Second Street for making Sushi popular in our little town. read more

I have, in times past, enjoyed the food and atmosphere. However, this is NOT the restaurant to go to if you want to celebrate any occasion with a large group. Tonight, we had a 'mom's night out' with a group of 10 ladies. Rarely does this get to happen! At the end of our meal (this was no communicated ahead of time at all), we were told that they would not ring us up separately, but we would have to do the calculations on our own. The ticket was incomprehensible, and we were over-charged. After 45 minutes (I am not exaggerating), the math was working out incorrectly. I asked to speak with the owner. He seemed aloof and annoyed by my request. I informed him that we were frustrated that we had to invest our valuable time as customers doing this. He half-heartedly took our credit cards and cash combination and started to run the transactions. I will not be spending the few precious hours I get to be out of the house (without small children) at 2nd Street Sushi. It was not relaxing at all. Fresh sushi in Hamilton, MT? I was skeptical to say the least... But boy, do they deliver! My standards are high (I've had sushi in Tokyo, San Fran, Seattle, NYC), and still I recommend this place. SUSHI in Cowboyland Montana? Yes, believe it. Rolls and tempura are terrific, salads excellent. I have friends in DC who are sushi connoisseurs; took them here and they raved about our lunch. Good idea: go with 3 or 4 others, order a variety of dishes, and share. Cuke salad = delightful. read more

I give this place 1 stars because i had a bad experience. We walk in and it's a 15 minute wait. Me, being understanding, i understood and everything was chill. in about 20 mins they took us to our table. We looked over the menu and and my family and i were ready to order, keep in mind that we haven't had a waitress yet. We waited for about a half an hour with still no waitress in sight. My family and i are getting a little frustrated, we still didn't have any drinks or anything. An hour goes by and i was so mad, i asked the first worker i saw if we could get a waitress/waiter and he said "in just a minute" so we wait for about 15 minutes and a lady approached our table and said "i'm not your waiter but i guess i can take your drink order" so frustrating . I told her that we were completley ready to order food AND drinks so she took our whole order. we waited for another hour and the lady came back to tell us that the warm food, AKA my moms chicken breast and veggies, and the sweet and sour chicken and rice were ready but the sushi was not (i ordered JUST sushi) so we wait for another 20 minutes for her to give it to my mom and little brother. We then waited another 45 minutes for the sushi and by this time my mom and brother were done eating. i then look to other tables (who came in after us) to see if they got waited on and THEY HAD THEIR SUSHI BEFORE US!!!! THEY HAD ALL THEIR SUSHI AND ALL THEIR FOOD ITEMS!!!!! My stepdad and i got our sushi and we FINALLY started eating. The sushi was okay i guess. I only found ONE of the rolls i got to be flavorful and tasty. Another thing was my mom is on the keto diet and so she asked if they could just cook a chicken breast and some mushrooms. When we were done and were paying, MY MOMS LITTLE CHICKEN BREAST AND NOT EVEN A HALF CUP OF VEGGIES WAS $20 LIKE WHATTTT?!?!?! Definently not worth it and i'm never going back, if you want good service and flavorful sushi go one hour to missoula and get some good food somewhere else. What a shame. I looked on here and saw great reviews, being that we are new to the area, thought to give it a try. So disappointed! I have no idea what everyone on here is raving about but our food was sad and way overpriced. Tempura was over cooked and I have never seen such slim portions with the vegetables at any other sushi restraunt. Sushi had no flavor and we got the spicy rolls. Teryaki Chicken was dry and it was like it was boiled in soy sauce and then they give you some sweet sauce to pour on. Would never go back. Our waitress was gracious when we asked about some of our food, but I would never go back and eat. read more

Without a doubt the best sushi in Montana. Staff is friendly and helpful plus they serve local craft beers. Always a plus in my book. :) The cucumber salad is delicious as well. Can't wait to go back. read more

We love this place and when eat here all the time. Call to make a to go order for our family which includes a child and they refused to make the order. The reason being they can't verify the order is for a child. I understand if somebody calls and orders 6 kids meals... maybe. I think the policy is ridiculous. This means that I can never order for my family unless I order an adult meal for my 3 year old! Change the policy so that you have to purchase and adult meal for every kids meal or something! You loose three adult meals and a kids meal with every time you refuse to let me order to go! read more

I ordered the teriyaki bowl on noodles with tofu for a price of $14. No, the menu did not mention a $4 additional charge for noodles. when the bill came I was shocked to find an $18 charge. My waitress was flustered and apologetic, returning twice after speaking to the owner in house that night- Jera Kassner. He finally came to my table, I pointed out the item I ordered, noodles, tofu. He said he would fix it and walked away. I sit there waiting for 10 minutes until I get up to see him working behind the counter again. No apology, no attempt to make it right, just irritation when I questioned the bill. I paid the $14, and I won't be back, but if you go I suggest you check your bill for over charges. Oh, and by the way the teriyaki was so-so and the noodles were greasy. read more

Disappointed after reading all the great reviews. Must have been the fact that I ordered something besides Sushi. Waited a full 1/2 hour for an appetizer, which was good. The entre arrived at the same time and was dry and over cooked. Not the best experience. Probably better to stick with the sushi, but doubt I'll go back. read more

We made the beautiful 45 minute drive down the Bitterroot Valley from Missoula to Hamilton and was highly impressed with 2nd Street Sushi. Great service, excellent quality. We will definitely eat there again! read more

This is one of our favorite sushi places in the US. Love the Wolverine, the Darbarian, Spider Roll, Sushimi. Friends that are from California say this is as good or better than what they had in San Francisco. Wonderful !!! read more
