This was my first time thrifting in this store. My first impression was;; not the cleanest store I've been to, nor had anything organized. They have very small sections of everything from Women's clothing, men's, to childrens. I think this thrift store is run by a church, and since it was the Easter week, they had everything for 70% off, which was nice since everything in the store was pretty pricey for a 2nd hand store. I believe a man's tshirt was $3.99, and for me that was way too much. But anyhow, I left with couple decent items. Would I come back here again? Probably not.. read more

Thrift: the quality of using money and other resources carefully and not wastefully. I like going to thrift stores because: it's fun to see all the stuff people give away, it fulfills my deep rooted primal human animal instinct of 'hunt and gather', I like finding weird sh!t, I want to pay the least amount as possible for the weird sh!t, for a few bucks I can find stuff to wear that makes me look like a million bucks or stuff to wear that makes me look like I should be asking people if they can spare a buck, I have an addiction to vintage audio/stereo/speakers/vinyl records-cassette tapes-8 tracks, and to people watch. However, the fundamental truth and driving force to going to thrift stores is to get stuff for cheap (as a consumer). At the same time, the model of doing business to get the most money for the least amount of overhead. That's a no brainer. Business is business. Nothing personal. Business before pleasure? The separation of church and state? Dipping my pizza slice in Ranch dressing might be strange to some. Buying a book about dinosaurs or a record for a striptease from a Christian store might also seem strange, but it too can be done. At 2nd Time Stores, the norm doesn't exist in regards to running a typical thrift store business. I'm wondering if all that dust, and there's a lot of dust-I mean a lot of dust- and the wind tunnel fan blowing air from Interstate 5 and the parking lot into the store might contribute to the WTF pricing of items. Example: The same vinyl records, you know Nate Cole, Mathias, Don Ho, Barbara Streisand, show tunes, Christmas disco, percussion in stereo, and maybe a classic rock album can be found here. They have all the ones you don't want. But they are hip to the latest trend of people buying records nowadays.....so they crossed out (X'd out) the "Vinyl $1.99" and updated it to "Vinyl $5.99". I know this because the price menu for books, music, etc was located on the racks of clothing on the other side of the store. Duh, why didn't I think to look there. Sweet! Records are now $5.99 Damnation, that is thrifty. I overheard a customer when checking out asking the cashier clerk to why is that junky smaller dirtier no name suitcase $19.99 while the cleaner larger nicer brand name suitcase is $15.99. The clerk intelligently replied "this suitcase is $19.99". I strolled back and returned the records and compact discs I picked out back on the shelf.... then walked out. On my drive away, I pondered the large hand written sign saying "60% OFF" all items, yet all items seem 3x more expensive and I noticed they love to price a lot of crap at $99.99 or more and even if it doesn't work. I might have missed the point on what Christianity and a very dusty and dirty overpriced thrift store have to do with each another. I just coughed up a moist dirt clod after being there. This store is over priced on everything, I don't think they should say they help the community when everything they sell is over priced, I was there today, I bought four items at 5.99(rip off at 50%) I was charged for 6 items, they don't remember the price they quote, she rang me up for a pair of shoes, at 9.99 when she told me 5.99, yes they ripped me off, within 3 minutes I told her I didn't want them, she said no returns, what? You just rung them up???? I will never let them steal from me again! Store is dirty and cluttered, over priced by whoever is at the register, they figure if they play Christian music it'll pull on your heart strings, don't be fooled.... These people are shady. Yesterday I went in and picked up a huge stack of records and I got to the front and they said they were 399 each and today I went in and the guy at the front told me they were 599 each so I left yet again about anything. It seems they just arbitrarily throw out prices. Also it said 50% off, and when you check in on yelp it said an additional 10% off and the guy wouldn't honor it because he said I would be getting too much of a discount but it doesn't say anything about me not being able to use the 50% off plus the 10% discount when you check in on Yelp. These guys are out of their mind if they think anyone is going to pay $6 each for used LPs. read more

This used to be my go to thrift store until they changed management. When you get to the counter they will randomly price items up as they see fit even though there are set prices listed on the walls. The last straw was when they wanted 50.00 for a Kohl's brand dress! Granted everything is 50% off, making it 25.00 which is WAY TO HIGH for what it was. They are now even more expensive than Goodwill! They don't even know how to price things and it makes it extremely unfair and frustrating to get to the counter having gone by their prices posted only to be told it's a higher amount after they look at the tag. . If it's a brand they've heard of, they price it ridiculously higher. It's ridiculous. They've lost a good customer and I've heard of other people complaining about the same thing. read more

Didn't catch that it was a Christian thrift store from the brief glance at the sign from the freeway. As a frequent shopper of Goodwill and Savers, I have to admit that I miss the way thrift stores used to be. You used to be able to find cool, unique stuff at thrift stores. Now, you mostly see returned Target merchandise. 2nd time thrift store has unique stuff that is fun to look at, especially if you are with a friend or family member. This place is so cute! I can feel the friendly vibe right when I walked in. This time, an employee flagged me down and asked if I needed assistance. I was looking very lost searching for that dang ugly Xmas sweater. The gentlemen even walked me to where it could be and helped confirm that they no longer have any of what I was looking for. This place is great for furniture I can't tell you how many times I've found great furniture for dirt cheap. The key is you gotta walk back to the storage area were they have all the new incoming furniture stacked up waiting to be put out on display, a lot of the time the stuff is so new back there that they don't even have prices on them yet and you just ask them how much it is and they'll shoot out a really dirty cheap number off the top of there head. All the good stuff is back there and hasn't been picked through yet. Don't come here for clothing, they severely lack in the clothing department, and the few cloths they have are not worth your time looking over. Only come here for furniture. read more

I was looking for thrift stores in the area with my phone and the Main Place Christian Thrift Store seemed to have a pretty high rating according to my phone. I guess my hopes were put up too high - there wasn't that much stuff I was interested in here. Mostly furniture that I didn't pay attention to. Found some cool film cameras at the front (one was $20, I kinda wish I bought it to play around with it, but a sign at the register basically said that we couldn't return it if it didn't work and I wasn't sure how to test if it worked or not). There were also some random items like some Czech Stringing Machine with a badminton racket on top... weird. The clothes weren't too special. Like any other thrift store, you really have to look to find something you like, but a thrift store like Goodwill will definitely give you better luck. Don't come here if you're hot and looking for a nice place to shop. No A/C! It was so hot! Just lots of powerful fans on. I don't hate this place (got a t-shirt I liked for $1) but it's nothing too great. read more

The prices were too expensive for used items. I was looking for a nightstand which I did find, but it happened to $60 bucks. Also, I saw a $6 coffee mug. Maybe these items are unique, Overall it had cool items and most were old. read more

Went there to purchase a TV asked the gentlemen working who was very rude and acted like we were bugging him if they work he said he didn't know that they were not able to test them I asked about return policy he said no returns no exchanges ok I understand we took a chance and to my surprise the TV did not work waste of money : very disappointed would not go back there has to be some kind of way to test them or at least if they don't work you can exchange for another one. read more

I love this place! I go there once a month to spend that loose change or extra cash I have in my wallet. NEVER EVER do I spend over $20! I always GOOD records, stuff that could be worth GOLD on ebay :-D Also, cassettes, vhs tapes. Not a huge assortment of clothing or furniture but they've got some gems out In the back...found an almost new pair of skis + bindings for $18, really good helmets for $5 each, and two suitcases for $25 (for both). All in great shape. I definitely recommend this place if you're in the area. read more

This place has really gone down hill in the past year or so. They used to constantly get some really cool overstock items from United Stationary like office equipment and electronics. Now it seems like that area of the store has been replaced with seasonal junk and cheap crap. The outside area is messy but you can find some good deals. read more

Always helpful there and above the service is the AMAZING PRICES... it's like they just keep taking off and taking off the price.. I'm always blown away when I get to the register and they tell me the price!!! Recent remodel is awesome, clear open floor plan easy to find what your looking for.... with lots of new furntiure and so much clothes!! new and old..... Decently organized for a thrift store. Although it is a huge space, some spots were hard to walk through and I didn't have any luck today but most thrift stores are hit and miss anyways. I like this thrift store. A lot of everything . Very reasonable. Also, has nice Christian music playing and goes to a good cause.

Family cleaned out our storage unit and decided to donate the items we felt were still of value. We took books, camping equipment, storage bins, and house goods. My family had been donating here for years but this time the person who greeted us immediately began a barrage of questions insinuating we were bringing pure junk to dump. He opened by pointing out that a camping grill (still in box and never used) had a hole in the box which you could see the grill. He tried to argue that it was worthless, "See, I've got to be able to make money here" he said. We struggled to find the difficulty in turning profit on items which are literally free to him. After we asked him what his problem was, he barked back that he now refused to take the whole load. He told us "tell 'em Mark said so". I don't know who "them" would be? But Mark, buddy, goodwill was pretty happy to accept our donation. They will be the recipient of our future donations, so good luck. read more
