There is some space in the back that is a bit quieter (before the band started) where you can sit and chat. They have shuffle board and big Jenga. Old fashioned was good, Manhattan was not my thing. Perfect place to watch the playoffs this weekend! It's super spacious inside and service is on point. The drinks are great too. I highly recommend the Strawberry Blonde. The Whiskey Collin was a little too sweat for my liking though. In terms of a snack, I recommend ordering their pretzel. I was introduced to 2Twenty2 Tavern via happy hour with some co-workers on a Friday. It's up the street from our office building and it was fairly easy to reserve a table during happy hour. 2Twenty2 Tavern is very nice inside. It's dimly lit with ample sitting for various size groups. You can tell that the bar is catered towards early career professionals or people that don't take happy hour lightly. They have tons of T.V.s throughout out the bar, music continuously playing in the background, and a giant Jenga set that seems to be very popular with the crowd. 2Twenty2 Tavern gets really busy, especially during happy hour. When I visited 2Twenty2 Tavern it was busy. The wait staff was very distracted throughout the night, which doesn't bother me especially if it's busy, but they when I did get to interact with them they weren't that friendly. The happy hour drinks are priced very reasonable but the other drinks are priced similarly to what you would see throughout downtown. My mixed drink was just decent. I can see myself visiting 2Twenty2 Tavern again for a quick drink. read more

This is a really cool bar located in downtown Chicago. Upon walking in I felt at home and relaxed. There was a nice seating area with comfy chairs and couches around a small electric fireplace, which was a welcome site on the blistering cold night I visited. There was also seating at the bar and in the back room area where there was a stage for live music. The bar staff was super friendly and let me sample some of the craft beers on tap before I ultimately ordered the Hell Kitty Kitty Belgian pale ale. The beer was delicious and very smooth. Myself and my friends sat around the fire playing jinga and had a great time. They also have shuffleboard and a few other games as well. I came to 2Twenty2 Tavern with two friends on a rainy Saturday afternoon. They have a large whiskey selection which is why we came. The bar area is fairly big. Which is great, you can get seated right away. I didn't love my old fashioned. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great and it was expensive. I did expect the price because we were in the loop. Typically when I walk into a bar, I like to see people chatting and enjoying themselves. The bar was fairly quiet. Overall it was an average experience. Great bar. Great atmosphere. I got a cocktail that seemed like it did not contain any alcohol. Maybe I just like them strong. They were helpful in letting us taste test their brews. We ordered the chili pot which was plenty of food for the two of us. We didn't realize how big the soft pretzel was otherwise we definitely would've gotten that instead. This place is fantastic! I started coming here for happy hour with my law school friends. We're evening students, so we don't get out til after 8 if not 9 most nights. So many places in the loop close early, so this place comes in clutch for having a late kitchen and being open until 2 AM. This bar is leagues above bars in the neighborhood, it has fantastic craft beer selection, shuffleboard, games, and live music Thursday to Sunday. The food is fantastic, but FYI the portion sizes are very large. I frequently order the pretzel and wings (spicy flavor) as appetizer. Modern, with a nod to the vintage - like - they are throwing a Gatsby New Year's Eve party, for this, their first New Year's Eve in business. But, the cousins who own this establishment are no strangers to the bar/restaurant life. Their fathers own Exchequer next door which has been around since 1969. One of my friends and I meet often around this part of the Loop and I was smitten when I first set foot in 2Twenty2 Tavern. Greeting you upon entering are an inviting group of comfy chairs around a fireplace and television. A shuffleboard table then over to your right...and a long and welcoming bar area are open for business. Robust selection of beers on tap as well as some spirits "straight from the oak barrel" - Templeton Rye, an Old Fashioned (or was it a Manhattan, sorry...brain cells on vacation) and a Tequila. Chris, one of the owners was behind the bar and he told me about his visit to Templeton - how they gave him tips on the aging process as well as stocked him with the oak barrels. I think it's not only a great idea, but it's a good look there behind the bar. This spot is a sleeper and somehow has been flying low under the Yelp radar. I never bothered to Yelp for this spot since I assumed it's been around for awhile, but on the contrary it seems to be fairly new and just recently opened not long ago. So let's do this! I've been here now a handful of a times as it seems to be the go to after work spot conveniently located in the loop and just a stone's throw away from the fiancee office. Pretty good draft selection and they seem to always have some great seasonal selections. I wish I could comment more on their cocktails, but it always seems to be shots and beers every time I'm here. x_x I should've known this was a new place from the first time I walked in, as the decor and seating is modern and clean looking, contrary to many of the older pubs and bars you'll stumble on in the loop. They got two shuffleboard tables to throw down on, your choice of bar seating, couch seating and even table seating if you decide to grab food. Food from what I recall, is your typical bar food selection. I tried their wings which weren't bad, but at the same time I wasn't really expecting much. Service has never been an issue. Bartenders have been friendly and attentive. Anyways, that's all I really got. Great spot to kick it after work and converse and complain about the daily grind. Oh yeah, I did notice a stage in the back of the venue but have never seen it used. Apparently this place is a music venue? I'll have to be on the look out who plays here next time I'm in. Pretty good bar. A bit pricey but the £2.22 lager is a good option if you're on a budget. I was worried it would be another watery American lager but it actually had some nice taste to it. I enjoyed some of their other draft choices as well which included a chocolate churro porter and another I can't remember. I also ordered a margarita but it was extremely small and not worth £12 in my opinion. Darts was fun but they didn't have an actual dart board. Instead they had an electronic plastic board and the tips of their darts kept breaking and the darts would always bounce off. Even though my team lost the game, I had a great time here. A previous reviewer on yelp complained that the music here was too loud; while it was loud I wouldn't say "too loud" after all....this is a Bar, not a library. Table service was a little slow, but there were only three people working. Very clean and modern, with great seating for groups in a dining area and a lounge area. The two large flat screens behind the bar, projector screen in the dining area to the rear and a large flat screen in the front lounge area make this a great place to watch a game. Just don't expect to listen to it, because like I said, it is a bar, which is not a problem for me. read more

My favorite bar ever. The atmosphere is modern rustic and chic, and it's large and airy despite being in the crowded loop. The owners, Chris and Jake, are always so welcoming and friendly. I love when it's packed because the energy is so fun, but even on a slower Sunday it's a great place to just relax and hang. If you know me by now I love a good whiskey and scotch and 2Twenty2 Tavern has been on my list to check out as their specialty cocktails are some of my favorites: Old Fashion, Manhattan, etc. Tried coming here on a Friday after work and it was absolutely packed so came here on a Tuesday evening. It was still bumping but there were seats available at the bar. Started off with their old fashion. It's my favorite cocktail. Whatever whiskey they were using to make the drinks, right off the bat, not good. And then my old fashion was way to sweet. For $12 I could've done so much better. You might as well just make me a jack and coke and save me the $3-4. What's even worse was the Manhattan I got afterwards. It was explosive with the smell of cheap alcohol. My goodness it was one of the worst cocktails I've ever had. Don't get the cocktails here thinking you are going to get an out of body experience with them because you're not. The cocktails in my opinion are really basic, not well made, and the scotch/whiskey they use with their cocktails is one of the worst. Yeah it's "cool" that the whiskey you use to make these cocktails comes out of a barrel but it doesn't avoid the fact that the drinks are not good. Also decided to get the cheese curds and fried jalapeno and pickles. Listen I love cheese curds and in my opinion it's impossible to get them wrong but this place absolutely got it done wrong. The cheese to bread ratio was terrible. Barely any cheese in the curds. The curds were the size of a penny. It was just so bad. The only reason this place doesn't get a 1 star is because it's a bar. It's a bar in the loop. You can go and get a beer or a jack and coke or a vodka soda here. But don't get the cocktails. Don't get the food. Came here last nights for some drinks and to check out some music after dinner. They have really good drinks on draft. I had the golden Margarita. It had just a hint of sweetness and the tequila flavor had a nice hint of oakiness. My husband had the old fashioned and it was also delicious as well. They also had a live band playing, which was pretty good, and shuffleboard tables. The atmosphere was nice and relaxing but very cozy. Great place to stop and get a drink. read more

As of the writing of this review, I would totally agree with the consensus that this is a 4.5 star bar! It's a cool place! I've been here a several times, usually during the weekend and typically in the early evening (e.g., not past mid-night--so I don't know what it's like after then). Only once have I been here and the place was dead and that's only because I was going for a walk, and, well, I think they literally just opened. LOL I think I was their first customer of the day, and even then, the bartender was really cool and glad to chat. All other times I've been here, it's hopping! I haven't seen any of their live band shows, but would indeed be glad to do so. I also understand there is no cover. It's free! That's a huge bonus! They also have lots of "bar games," cool music, large TVs, a respectable food menu, and an awesome beer selection! I'm also happy with the service. The waiters and bar tenders are usually pretty quick, friendly, and hip! Probably the only down side is that seating is competitive, and so sometimes even finding a single seat at the bar can be difficult.
