They open at 10 am but I went around 10:10 and they barely arrived. Nice clean place with AC. Seats were massage chair Natalie and Nhi was nice enough to just take me in even though they have two appointment customers right when they open. While they were waiting for those two customers to finish up, they were helping me first since I was already in the store but they prioritized the customers with appointment right when they walked in (very professional). I got a pedicure with gel ($43) and gel x manicure with gel ($55). It took around two hours (because I was a walk in customer), but I would say they are still the more affordable one around the area. Pricing was cheaper than a lot of surrounding places. I don't do this often, so I asked Natalie what color would look best with my white dress and she suggested the baby blue color. Ok, so my first visit actually was in June of this year. About to take a little Cruise so had them done in a beautiful color. Loved it! Many compliments and sorry I didn't take a picture. Second visit, had mani pedi again, but change the color to a wonderful pale lavender. Absolutely stunning! Did I say it was a cat eye manicure? It was! So two weeks go bye, it's time for a redo. So then I go and today I came out with what I'm going to call is wicked green, again cat eye. I went to this place on a Sunday morning without an app and I was very grateful that they took me in for a pedicure but boy do I regret it now. I'm not in a habit of writing bad reviews but this time I'm mad that on how the service was conducted. The lady was an older lady who at most didn't know how do cut nails. Instead of just cutting straight to prevent ingrown nail growth she ripped it. As many times I've gotten a pedicure this was the first time that it has happen. Once she was done she pored alcohol on it and it stung so bad that I wanted to yelled. She never reacted to my pain and just went on. Then to top it off as she finished polishing my nails instead of using a brush to clean up the polish that got on my skin she dipped her finger on the acetone and rub it off which just smudge the polish. I had the worst experience at Exotic Nails in Montclair, and I honestly regret stepping foot in the place. I went in as a walk-in, asking for a simple gel manicure--something that should've been a quick and easy 40-minute session since I had nothing on my nails. I know I should have made an appointment at my regular spot, but time got the best of me and I thought it would be nice to try somewhere new. Unfortunately, it turned into a nightmare from the start. I specifically told the technician that my nails were a bit weak from a previous set and asked her to be gentle. Instead of taking care, she caused a huge cut on my middle finger. I was bleeding for a while, and it was painful, which, of course, no one wants when getting a manicure. Once the bleeding stopped, I thought maybe things would improve, but nope. When it came time to paint my nails, the color just wouldn't go on evenly. It looked like it needed a base or was just poor-quality polish, and the technician had zero control, painting outside of my nails, making it look sloppy and unprofessional. I know I have small nails, but I've never had this problem before at other salons. At that point, I just couldn't take it anymore and walked out in the middle of the appointment. I've had many gel manicures, and this was hands down the worst. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else. read more
