Oxtails
Bill C.

Authentic slow-cooked soul food! Although nobody really admits it, soul food is a matter of taste. We might all eat ox tails or even pig feet but the way it *should* be seasoned really depends on where you grew up and your family recipe. I say all that because I was going to knock 3 SIstas Kitchen down a star because the food isn't exactly the way I would cook it. But it is still good and authentic. So, if you don't feel like spending an entire day cooking or your mama is no longer with us, go on over to 3 Sistas and have a good meal.

We went on a Sunday when the special was oxtail or catfish. My husband had the oxtail (which he had never tried) and I had the fried catfish (I don't normally eat catfish). Both were amazing and so was our Green beans, greens, sweet potatoes... will definitely go again! The place was very clean, and super friendly staff!

My medium rare steak -- DELICIOUSLY PERFECT! And BEST YAMS EVER!!!! And mmm green beans!

I wish I could give 3 Sistas in Huntsville, Tx ten stars because my best friend Julie and I went tonight and it was one of the best meals I've ever enjoyed! It happened to be steak night and I love steak! I got mine, medium rare with a side of green beans and yams and let me tell you ... You have never had yams till you've been to 3 Sistas in Huntsville, Texas! They were so brown sugary good with butter, and I don't know what else, but I could've eaten an entire bathtub of the yams alone. My steak was absolutely perfect and the green beans oh the green beans! YUMMILICIOUS!! Julie got the macaroni and cheese (fantastic!!!), fried chicken and collard greens and ohhhhhh we were eating off each other's plates until closing time! We met the super amicable and talented young chef, Henry, and his joy filled aunt, Shay, and we will DEFINITELY return!!! Next time? Dessert!!!!!

Smothered pork chops, black eyed peas, and cabbage

When I lived in Huntsville there were a very few places to go for a good smothered pork chop and before I left Huntsville, a smothered pork chop was nowhere to found but I was in Huntsville last weekend for an event and met Henry and Shay and little did I know that I would be sitting in their restaurant for a lite afternoon snack that was beyond measure. I chose the smothered pork chops, cabbage, and black eyed peas. The 3 Sistas are good reason for me to increase my visit to Huntsville not only because I enjoyed my meal immensely today but I also eyeballed some items on the menu like the oxtails, Shay's lasagna, and the fried fish and shrimp. Y'all are gonna see me sooner that you think.

Just another reminder to never judge a book by its cover. Yelp gave it great reviews so we steered off the beaten path in search of this new place for lunch. When we drove up, I was a little skeptical, we all were, but in for a penny, in for a pound all 4 of us marched in. Small, older and definitely not upscale we found a table. We were greeted by the owner and head cook Miss Joyce. Edwin came to take our order and was so friendly. The food was solid! Miss Joyce can definitely throw down some vittles and the portions were ample. If you are ever in Huntsville, and you want some good Soul food, stop by 3 Sistas. It's nothing fancy but the food is on point. P.S. My friend said she thinks the fried fish was the best she had ever eaten because of the seasonings in the coating and we all tasted the yams and they were killer.

Run-- do not walk-- and get some of the best food in Huntsville from THE sweetest people you've ever met. Everything was literally perfect. Fried doll fish coating was tasty and crisp -- as was the shrimp. I ordered more sides Just to try them and they were delicious: red beans & rice and the Mac & cheese! Wow. I can't wait to come back

I tried them again. And yes, it was amazing. Eating at three sisters is like eating outta your aunts or grandmother's kitchen. It's mouth-watering and sinfully delicious .. this time I tried fried fish, fried chicken and the banana pudding. I scrapped the container to make sure I got all the Nana pudding outta the container. Don't sleep on three sistas' kitchen!! oh and I felt like family. The staff is so sweet and amazing!

Service was excellent…read more Ambiance--usual diner feel Food: Ox tails delicious--tad too spicy but I enjoyed every bite! Rice & gravy gummy with no seasoning! Cabbage was good--greens very spicy! Gave to my sister who rated 9 out of 10 would recommend. Cornbread was like hard day old bread and went into the trash! Bbq platter: BIL loved his plate! Said potato salad was meh but all else good! Hotlinks, ribs, and beans! Sister got fried chicken and added mac&cheese along with yams! Chicken was fresh but not seasoned much! Mac&cheese good for diner menu option, and yams were okay she said! Greasy spoon Mac is better IMO but Granny's oxtails the best I've had here in H-town! Although spicy/hot food is not my favorite I did enjoy them If the cornbread were softer & sweeter I think the rating would be 4! Would I go back? Hmm! Yea for the tails of course! I saw they have catfish & black eyed peas so I may try those next time as well! Overall 3.5 but can't do half stars By default I left it at 4

EXCELLENT! I did not expect to find something like this in a small small town. We were on our way…read moreto college station and wanted to get something to eat as we got closer to our destination. We checked Yelp for something other than Mexican food and this place had really great reviews. As soon as we walked it we knew it was going to be good. The menu isn't too large, which to me meant that they have spent a lot of time perfecting the things that are on the menu. The service was really good and as soon as we sat down, we ordered a couple of sodas and the Boudin balls. We took a couple minutes to look at the menu and everything looked really good, but the spicy chicken sandwich was really calling out to both of us. So we ordered those one with potato salad and one with rice. The Boudin balls were delicious. They were pretty large in size and the sauce that it came with had a little bit of a kick to it. My favorite thing was that it was mostly meat on the inside and the flavor was incredible. Same with the chicken sandwich. It also had a kick and by the time I was done my mouth was pretty warm. I thought the potato salad was a great way to help cool it off, and it was just as good as the sandwich. I loved the batter on the chicken, and I thought the bun was toasted perfectly. This would be a place I would go to regularly if I lived in the area. Parking was pretty tight and most of the spots were taken up so we did park in a spot we weren't supposed to, but luckily we didn't get towed!

Whew! I'm a Mississippi native so Louisiana is like our great aunt and New Orleans is our first…read morecousin. I knew when we pulled up the food was going to be good. When I tell you the spirit of Louisiana and NOLA was in the place! So you will miss the place if you aren't paying attention. The sign is small and the building looks like it used to be a church fellowship hall. It's not fancy and it's small, however, don't discount it. Don't judge a book by its cover and great things come in small packages. It's a family owned and run business. By the looks of it, it can probably seat 40 people and I'm pushing it with the number. However from the time you walk in until the time you leave, you feel like you're at your great aunt's house. It was five of us and when you walk in, it's seat yourself and first come, first serve. The food came out piping hot and cooked fresh. My husband and brother-in-law got the catfish platter with red beans and rice (no pork) and Mac-n-cheese. My sister and I got the Nawlins boil that had a crab cluster, shrimp, corn, potato, boiled egg and a sausage link. My nephew got a shrimp po-boy with fries. The food was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The fish and fries were crispy. The Mac-n-cheese isn't creamy but it isn't dry. Perfect amount of cheese and flavor. The red beans and rice had the perfect balance of flavor. The boil...my goodness the boil. They have the amount of the boil down to a science to make it a full meal. At first glance, I didn't think it would be seasoned well because the season looked like a dry rub. It wasn't saucy or juicy - until I took my first bite. I almost walked to the kitchen to kiss the cook. They are not skimpy on any of the food either. Even the po-boy had an overload of shrimp. When we were there, it was a packed house. There was also a large party who was rather disgruntled - not because of the service or food but because they were impatient. Remember this is a family owned business with 2 servers and maybe 3 cooks that cook to order. So if you're looking for quick food, this isn't the place. If you have time to sit, enjoy some great food with great company in a casual home style restaurant...this is your place.
