Amazing food!!! Everything it tried was delicious. Friendly staff and home like feel. Fair prices also. So just to name a few fire items I had... . Here we go... Oxtails fire! Yams fire! Came here for the first time with my kids. Each entree comes with a choice of cornbread or dinner rolls, and 3 sides. We ordered the fried chicken, oxtails (pot roast type), pig feet, peach cobbler, and banana pudding. They were all pretty heavy plates that will put you to sleep lol. The pig feet were very flavorful, but I wish there were some more meat than straight skin. The oxtails were amazing, but I wish they had some of those larger bone pieces. They were mostly medium to small pieces. The fried chicken is super delicious. The desserts and sides are really good. We got the mashed potatoes, cabbage, mac'n cheese, cajun rice, and yams. Wished the mac'n cheese was thicker and cheesier, but each soul food place has their own version. The menu changes everyday so be sure to follow them on FB and/or call them that day if you're wondering. All the staff are friendly and fast. Lots of tables to dine on. Lots of parking around the building. Overall, a bit pricier than I would like, but it's quality food and the portions are a decent size. read more

Went through Calvert in early Jan. 2021. Remembered the delicious oxtails and came in. There was no greeting as in the first visit. The cashier was speaking with a man, but chose not to look over and acknowledge that we came. There's a taped off space of maybe 18" to stand away from the steam table, which is a good thing. There were real cloth tablecloths, which was nice. When we arrived, there was only one customer at a table. When we left, there were two other tables, but they had a constant stream of customers picking up orders. All were regulars because every one had easy conversations about kids, grandkids or their lives in general. My husband's oxtail plate was good. My fried chicken plate was salty, obviously salty. Possibly from sitting on the steam table too long. As we left, I looked over at the employees. They just stared back, with no thanks for coming in. I don't expect to be back. If my husband has a hankering for tender oxtail in a rich brown gravy, I'll tell him to wait until we get back into town and head over to Mikki's Soul Food in southwest Houston. Needed a meal stop to break up a road trip. Oxtail Factory did not disappoint! 1pm on a Sunday, a bit of a line (you order at the counter), but well worth the wait with friendly service. Southern hospitality!! The building may not be 5-star but the service is... the food is delicious and the service is fine. Wry nice family owned and operated food establishment. My hubby and I had the fried chicken yams and pinto beans. It was all tasty and to our liking. We tried a side of oxtails and they were good smothered in a thick (but not 40 weight) au jus -type gravy. This place has cafeteria style service into styrofoam containers. They give individually wrapped plastic ware for cleanliness. Speaking of cleanliness the place is well kept and the restrooms are clean. Soul food...more like soooo good food!!! My family was traveling back home from Corpus Christi and found this gem on Yelp. It received really good reviews so we decided to give it a try and man were we glad we did! Hands down the best southern home cooking I have had to date and I don't say that lightly. Everything was sooo flavorful. The meat is so tender it melts in your mouth. The day we went they were offering oxtail, beef tips, smothered pork ribs and pigs feet. Their menu says they have daily specials but the sides were where it was at! They offered mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, butter beans, mac n cheese and cabbage this day. I sampled all of them around our table and they were all off the charts good! The sweet tea was so fresh and perfectly balanced and the banana pudding just topped off an outstanding meal. All of the workers greeted us with a smile and a welcome and sent us off with a cheerful "thank you come again." Which I will definitely be doing and encourage you to do as well. YUM read more

We left the big city of Bryan in search for a good lunch. 20 miles later I was very hungry. The line inside surprised me , but found several open tables. I wanted gravy and the double smashed potatoes. I found what I craved , "neck bones" and much more. The sides somehow tasted better than even my wife's or Moms , I don't know how the owners do it. We got the entrees and are planning on eating those just now (Part 2) Their cabbage and yams were to die for! (They've turned me into a believer, in the past I never would have ordered these). Was driving through Hearne on my way back to the DFW area from San Marcos. The wife and I were getting a little hungry when we saw this rather unassuming place and decided to try it. So glad we did! The inside is very plain but very clean. We were greeted warmly and given a rundown of what they had available that day. I chose the Fried Chicken, Green Beans and the Cabbage. The green beans and the cabbage were both cooked well with a little crisp left in them (just like I like) and both had a nice spice to them. I would put them at the top of any sides any sides that I've had. But what really blew me away was the Fried Chicken! I can easily say it was the best I have had in my life! Well seasoned, very crispy outside and moist inside. No idea how long they must have marinated it, but the inside was just as tasty as the crust. You gotta try this place! read more

Found this place on Yelp, called to see if they were open on Sundays, and yes! the were. So we stopped in and had the fried chicken, yams, greens and green beans. Such great food!
