Sunday Menu as of November 2024

Came here for the first time with my kids. Each entree comes with a choice of cornbread or dinner rolls, and 3 sides. We ordered the fried chicken, oxtails (pot roast type), pig feet, peach cobbler, and banana pudding. They were all pretty heavy plates that will put you to sleep lol. The pig feet were very flavorful, but I wish there were some more meat than straight skin. The oxtails were amazing, but I wish they had some of those larger bone pieces. They were mostly medium to small pieces. The fried chicken is super delicious. The desserts and sides are really good. We got the mashed potatoes, cabbage, mac'n cheese, cajun rice, and yams. Wished the mac'n cheese was thicker and cheesier, but each soul food place has their own version. The menu changes everyday so be sure to follow them on FB and/or call them that day if you're wondering. All the staff are friendly and fast. Lots of tables to dine on. Lots of parking around the building. Overall, a bit pricier than I would like, but it's quality food and the portions are a decent size.

Man this my first time in the city I pulled cause me and my brother working down here we was looking for sum good soul food and found this place pulled up and my brother card wasn't working the man in the front gang it to use with great customer service he made me feel like family I will definitely be back

Went through Calvert in early Jan. 2021. Remembered the delicious oxtails and came in. There was no greeting as in the first visit. The cashier was speaking with a man, but chose not to look over and acknowledge that we came. There's a taped off space of maybe 18" to stand away from the steam table, which is a good thing. There were real cloth tablecloths, which was nice. When we arrived, there was only one customer at a table. When we left, there were two other tables, but they had a constant stream of customers picking up orders. All were regulars because every one had easy conversations about kids, grandkids or their lives in general. My husband's oxtail plate was good. My fried chicken plate was salty, obviously salty. Possibly from sitting on the steam table too long. As we left, I looked over at the employees. They just stared back, with no thanks for coming in. I don't expect to be back. If my husband has a hankering for tender oxtail in a rich brown gravy, I'll tell him to wait until we get back into town and head over to Mikki's Soul Food in southwest Houston. There will be a long line but we'll feel welcome and very happy with plates piled high with goodness!

Ah the gravy the fall off the bone meat!!

A great stop for a meal that will stick to your bones. The amount of oxtail in an order will cost you $50 bucks at the grocery store! Gravy is thick and seasoned and all the sides are just like grandma used to make. The only downside is their hours as I usually pass thru after 5 pm

Southern hospitality!! The building may not be 5-star but the service is... the food is delicious and the service is fine. Wry nice family owned and operated food establishment. My hubby and I had the fried chicken yams and pinto beans. It was all tasty and to our liking. We tried a side of oxtails and they were good smothered in a thick (but not 40 weight) au jus -type gravy. This place has cafeteria style service into styrofoam containers. They give individually wrapped plastic ware for cleanliness. Speaking of cleanliness the place is well kept and the restrooms are clean. I recommend Oxtail Factory in for your soul food craving.

The Oxtail Factory is a clean, quaint, cafeteria style soul food restaurant. My first visit recently found a staff that was friendly and focused on serving the customers. They had a choice of 3 entrees, an assortment of sides, desserts and drinks. I had the Oxtails, cabbage, Mac and Cheese and yams! Bought a to-go plate of smothered neck bones, mashed potatoes, and peach cobbler, and chicken and banana pudding for my wife. Honestly, everything we ate was awesome. Shawn and Willie are friendly and passionate about what they do. You can taste it!

When I tell you the spirit of Louisiana and NOLA was in the place! So you will miss the place if you aren't paying attention. The sign is small and the building looks like it used to be a church fellowship hall. It's not fancy and it's small, however, don't discount it. Don't judge a book by its cover and great things come in small packages. It's a family owned and run business. By the looks of it, it can probably seat 40 people and I'm pushing it with the number. However from the time you walk in until the time you leave, you feel like you're at your great aunt's house. It was five of us and when you walk in, it's seat yourself and first come, first serve. The food came out piping hot and cooked fresh. My husband and brother-in-law got the catfish platter with red beans and rice (no pork) and Mac-n-cheese. My sister and I got the Nawlins boil that had a crab cluster, shrimp, corn, potato, boiled egg and a sausage link. My nephew got a shrimp po-boy with fries. The food was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The fish and fries were crispy. The Mac-n-cheese isn't creamy but it isn't dry. Perfect amount of cheese and flavor. The red beans and rice had the perfect balance of flavor. The boil...my goodness the boil. They have the amount of the boil down to a science to make it a full meal. At first glance, I didn't think it would be seasoned well because the season looked like a dry rub. It wasn't saucy or juicy - until I took my first bite. I almost walked to the kitchen to kiss the cook. They are not skimpy on any of the food either. Even the po-boy had an overload of shrimp. When we were there, it was a packed house. There was also a large party who was rather disgruntled - not because of the service or food but because they were impatient. Remember this is a family owned business with 2 servers and maybe 3 cooks that cook to order. So if you're looking for quick food, this isn't the place. If you have time to sit, enjoy some great food with great company in a casual home style restaurant...this is your place.

The restaurant looks almost like a converted house from the outside, but nicely kept with parking around the side. The interior is simple but upbeat in its New Orleans decor. The owner cheerfully met us at the door and invited us to sit wherever we wanted. She was hajppy, helpful and patient throughout the visit. We ordered all of our favorites to try; gumbo, etouffee, catfish, shrimp, dirty rice. While I have had better crawfish etoufee, the shrimp and catfish were king! The fish was mild, cut in a thick filet and perfectly seasoned and cooked. The shrimp was also perfect and very pleasing. It was all served with a grilled piece of bread that went well with the meal. It's good to have these folks in Bryan. I would definitely dine at Remnant of Nawlins again.
