Here for Lone Star Football Clinic and coaches mentioned this as one of the best places to eat. What a flavorful menu that was delicious! Everyone's plate was cleaned. This will be a yearly visit! Friendly staff!

Don't let the exterior fool you, this place has some of the best southern soul food you can find in B/CS. My friend Kaleb told me about Shannon's and so of course I visited for lunch this week with my roommate. We were first skeptical when we saw the shoddy nature of the building and front door, but once we opened it we found everyone awesomely friendly and welcoming. You can tell that most of the people there are regulars and it helps add to the charm. Now onto the food. ERMAHGERD THE FOOD. I thought they had kidnapped my grandma and held her hostage in the back to make mashed potatoes and beef tips. You know the beef tips are good when they fall apart on your fork from the tenderness. Along with the beef tips and mashed potatoes I had cornbread and macaroni. Everything was very filling and delicious. Halfway through the meal my roommate commented that he felt like he was eating Thanksgiving dinner - he had roast chicken and stuffing. I tried it and it was equally as awesome. Make sure you get their sweet tea. It's definitely sweet. Next time I will come by before 10:30 and get their breakfast. Chicken and Waffles? I feel like this place will completely dominate those from at Sully's. Also the entrees apparently rotate daily so you'll never know what awesomeness you'll get.

I added the lousiana hot sauce and got extra dressing.

Amazing soul food with a friendly staff. Deserts are homemade but sell out quick. Iced tea makes everything taste better!

My son ordered the scallops and to say they were gritty was an understatement. And the service...well when we could flag our waitress down we got service. Otherwise she was nowhere to be found. My husband flagged down another waitress after we had been sitting there for 15 minutes without any water or drinks. We also had to flag her down for the check. With that look comes upscale prices. You'd think the prices would match the experience but as with most hotel restaurants, they do not. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of food and drink options here and some deliver such as the Pine & Petal cocktail which is as pretty as it is tasty with the hibiscus, pineapple, mint and lime mixed with buffalo trace. And I enjoyed the Walt Blue Jay Pinot Noir which was a generous pour delivered. As for service, it's the definition of inconsistent. When I sat down, they greeted me within a couple minutes and poured my wine immediately and let me sip it in peace. So far so good. But when I finished, they approached and asked me if I'd like another drink which I replied about the Pine & Petal cocktail. They put it in and then the bartenders go to some other guests and chit chat about some contest they are setting up with the soda gun and building some paper boat to float down it with the person building the best paper boat getting a prize. I'm sitting there thinking are they gonna make my drink or do I have to remind them again? So they organize this contest with about 4-5 participants and then crown the winner. As they're celebrating, the bartender comes back and asks me what'd I'd like to order. I'm definitely a bit peeved since this was roughly 15 minutes after I had asked them to make the Pine & Petal cocktail. So mentioned that I ordered that cocktail a while ago. The bartenders realized their error and made the drink and decided not to charge me for it. While I appreciate the no charge, having the attentiveness to make the drink instead of focusing on the paper boat contest would've been more sufficient. Especially given the reviews commenting about customer service. Should I stay at the Stella again, I may venture here to try the other cocktails. But I'll probably just order one and be done with it.
