I called around town and Aguilar said they could be out in 3 days, which was much better than having to wait the 2 weeks that the bigger companies quoted. They were at the house promptly at 7:45am on a Saturday morning, had called ahead, and were done in less than 2 hours. The total cost was well below what I had found online for what I thought the problem may be. Even when leaving he gave me advice on how to make my a/c last a little longer. First off, Reno and Lynn are incredible. My friend referred me to Reno when I was asking about…read moreroutine maintenance on AC and from the first time I met Reno, I could tell he was an honest person that just cared about doing the job right. He quickly performed a tune up on our existing AC system, showed me pictures of the system so I would have a reference in the future, and explained various topics about air conditioning and ducting. He didn't try to upsell any services, recommended what I thought was a very reasonable tune up schedule, and overall was just fun to talk to. The next time he was over for a tune up, he noticed my capacitor was not in great shape. He showed me what mine looked like from pictures (unit is on the roof) as well as what a new unit would look like before performing the repair itself. Again, his quote was very reasonable and he kept me well aware of what he was doing. Now comes the above and beyond part. Our AC went out this past week...I started freaking out and messaged Reno at 8:30pm at night expecting a response the next day. He responded within 10 minutes and even asked if he needed to come that night. Thankfully it was cool enough he could come out the next morning. He attempted to replace a burnt out switch and when that didn't work he was honest that that meant it was the compressor coil. He gave me the option to replace the compressor or the whole unit (20+ yr old unit) and made it very clear which option he recommended without being pushy at all. We went with his recommendation and after an incredibly reasonable quote (we honestly could not say no), he was able to coordinate the new AC installation in two days. In the meantime he was even gracious enough to let us borrow a portable AC he had laying around. On the day of the new AC installation, everything went smoothly and efficiently with Reno and Lynn working together. They made us feel like family the entire time and were nothing short of incredible, constantly keeping us aware of what was happening. They showed us how they were hooking everything up to make for easy maintenance access, and even took time after the installation to check out and REPAIR some ducting issues we never would've caught ourselves. Turns out we had disconnected portions in the attic that were just wasting cool air... Our AC is now better than ever and we feel completely ready for the hot Arizona summer. When explaining how I feel about Reno and Lynn to our other friends, I don't just recommend them as incredible contractors, but instead refer to them as incredible human beings. I'm very picky with my contractors and have enough mechanical knowledge myself to know when I'm being yanked around. I never had any sense of anything remotely like that with these guys. They're the absolute best and went above and beyond anything I could've ever expected. I'd give the tech 5 stars, but as a company, Savage did not meet my expectation. They left me in the lurch and were perfectly OK to leave me without cooling and without a path to resolution in AUGUST in Phoenix. I had an issue with my A/C unit blowing tepid air. The tech came out and after all the testing/diagnostics found out that the system was low on Puron. There's obviously a leak, so I approved him to start the process of finding it. He mentioned that it would take about two hours to find it, and after it was found they could put a bit more Puron in my system as a stop gap to hold me over until the repairs could be made. Here is where the first shock came to me. I was quoted that the first pound of Puron would be nearly $500, which is a ridiculous amount to charge. The tech exhausted the 2 hours of leak testing and was not able to pinpoint the leak. He mentioned that the Savage front office would contact me about scheduling more time for them to continue the search. He called his boss and was told that they were not able to temporarily charge my system since the leak wasn't found. Despite my logical deduction that if the system still has some Puron and the leak wasn't obvious, then it must be a small leak. Therefore, they should be able to temporarily charge my system while we continue the search/repair process. This was denied and they would not provide me any resolution for a system that wasn't working even though it's in the hottest part of the year. It's now been three days since this happened, and nobody from their front office has reached out to me to reschedule anything. Based on their willingness to leave an entire family without cooling in August when they could easily provide a temporary solution and their obvious price gouging, Savage clearly doesn't care about their customers. Avoid at all costs. Thankfully I was able to contact another company who were able to come out the same day to provide me a reasonable price for a temporary charge while we continue debugging the system.
