Check-in was a ghost town--no one around, had to hunt down someone who looked annoyed we existed. Room felt like a dusty antique store explosion: creaky floors that groaned like they were dying every time you moved, poor lighting so dim you could barely see your own feet, and lightbulbs that were straight-up burned out. Bed was okay if you like lumpy mattresses from the 1800s, but the pillows were flat as pancakes and smelled faintly of old attic. Breakfast? More like a sad self-serve disaster. Tables were dirty, no utensils half the time, trash overflowing, and the "continental" spread was basically stale muffins, watery coffee that tasted like regret, and some sad fruit that had seen better days. No host interaction, no warm vibes--just grab-and-go neglect. The whole place had this weird abandoned energy. No real hospitality, plumbing sounded like a freight train every time someone flushed, and the "quaint" antiques just made everything feel grimy and neglected. Paid way too much for a night of discomfort and disappointment. Zero charm, zero comfort, zero reason to ever come back. It just sucked. Hard. Avoid unless you enjoy paying for regret. 0/10, would rather sleep in the car.

It had been hot all week. 105+ and my two prior lodging choices that advertised AC and WiFi, both failed to deliver AC or WiFi or allow canceling a non-cancelable resv. I arrived without a firm resv, but booking.com said they had one room available. In the lobby is a sign directing guests to call a phone number. No answer. There is another sign with a different number. No answer. There is a button on the wall to summon help. No help arrived. I found my way to the adjacent restaurant. Servers directed me to the bartender. No clue if a room was available. No idea if the rooms had AC. They have window AC units that hat work just fine. No idea if the room had a private or shared bath. Room 4 has a private bath. The only way to book and check-in while standing in the lobby is booking.com. I booked one night. It was then I discovered that the door to room #4 would not close. Further inspection revealed that the strike plate was not (mortised) flush into the door frame. Examining the door, it became apparent that the door could be forced closed, but only if I really put my shoulder in to it. The room and bath were clean and spacious. The stairway is a tad narrow, but that is hardly unexpected for vintage buildings. The restaurant staff is friendly, but uninformed about the lodging operation. The towels were thin and coarse, not plush. They reminded me of the earlier Days Inn stay that was a 0-star experience. I ordered nachos from the bar. Nothing special. Think gas station nachos. The bartender is friendly and makes a damn fine margarita. On-street parking only. Breakfast was not available, so off to the market. Would I return? Maybe.

Our room was quite large w a big bed there's two night stands a desk area large tv on and dresser; another bed in an alcove is great for another person to have a bit of privacy w a night stand. The room had a microwave, fridge and coffee maker w a selections of coffee and teas. Bathroom was large and a great shower area w a nice shower head that had good hot water when needed. The amenities were awesome. The soap smelled great and had an amazing exfoliating seeds build in. The body lotion felt so luxurious on my skin. Towels and bed linens were perfect. If you read my posts about food you know I'm a water snob well when lodging in a sheet snob (my husband would say I'm like the princess and the pea). The sheets were soft and comfy. We had a restful nights sleep and awesome shower w great pressure. We then we welcomed to a breakfast all homemade even seemed the juices we fresher squeezed. I had the savory crusty bread w egg, tomato, kielbasa, ham and cheese inside it was so yummy. They had whole wheat cinnamon rolls that the frosting was great as well as the great flavor. The overnight chia was great loved the creaminess of the mixture but the fruit on top was fresh. The oj was as fresh and the coffee (I'm not a coffee drink but my mom said it was great). Next morning I needed to leave early, but Matt insisted on making me a breakfast to-go of a sandwich and fruit. They even shared dinner with me my second night when I came back early. Everything was natural, organic, consciously-gathered ingredients. Room: Nice, clean, cozy bedding and lighting. 6-7 water bottles, lavender bed spray, gorgeous stone lamp, tv, guidebooks and separate entry, and covered parking for my one car. Beautiful lot with large patios upstairs and downstairs that are oh-so peaceful!! Spent lots of time talking with Bob, and he was very accommodating and easy-going. I loved having breakfast in their cozy and bright dining area near the kitchen overlooking the mountains and watching numerous hummingbirds come to feed on their upper patio (felt like we were Bob's personal guests). Bob was also so kind to let our dog, LeLa (who is well-behaved) stay in the dining room with us while we had breakfast. We did not see much of Ursula (his wife) as she had to work during the days that we were there, but our brief meeting with her was very pleasant! We highly recommend this place!!!
