I read reviews and wanted to try this place. I just tried to get a table at this establishment - there were others behind me- the tall man at the door with glasses asked "Are you together?" I said "No- I'm a party of one"- He shook his "no" and said we are full. He gave the "group" the time of day. So if you are a solo traveler - your business is not needed/wanted/welcomed here. Reviews were pretty misleading. Seafood was really bad (got the shrimp with swordfish and the sea bass). The muscles were very average. Was really disappointed given this is a seafood restaurant. The bread was really really bad as well. Felt like old stale bread. The pasta dishes were good. The squid ink pasta and the gnocchi was good. Located two block from the Spanish steps 34 is easily spotted amongst the other restaurants. If you want an outside seat come early as these are coveted and get filled fast. Service is nothing to write home about, it's a little slow but understandable when there is only two waiters bussing, taking orders, seating guest, and delivering food. On the more expensive side about ~15(ish) euros per entree. The food was excellent that I tried. I had the Roman style gnocchi which when presented was the most fluffy and tasty gnocchi I've experienced in Italy. My companions pasta was okay and the restaurant would have received three stars if it wasn't for that pillowy and silky smooth gnocchi. My sister and me went to 34 restaurant, I checked reviews and all of them were very nice, unfortunately I received the worst service! First, the waiter looked at us head to toe very rude, 10 minutes later we ordered, but I was afraid of the waiter! He looked mad! I don't know if he know we were tourists or what, the food was ok.. Not the best. My sister order still water, never arrived... Then we order the check and 20 minutes later... We pay! I'm so disappointed! There were so many tourist traps on this street, I was wary, but ended up going back a second time since the food was so solid. I loved the cacio e pepe and the amatriciana pastas. I admit to being just a little put off when I saw an older woman (who I believe was an owner) grab a bottle of Scotch from the bar, take a big swig, and put the bottle right back with the others. Only disappointing things were how long it took us to get the check (those 30 minutes cost us getting to see the sistene chapel), our water glasses were seriously filthy so it's hard to say how clean anything is in here, and we ordered an appetizer that never came. It's a great place for family and kids, but if you're looking for a romantic or quiet evening, I would probably go somewhere else. The lasagna was ok, but the lobster pasta was a bit salty. This was the best Restaurant I have eaten in for a very long time. The food was spectacular! From the insalata misti to the Tagliata that was ordered rare and served rare!
