I bought a Pfaff sewing machine in 2020 ($2,500.00) from them and every year brought it in for service. The servicing ALWAYS took 6 weeks!! My machine never worked correctly even after servicing. I did have them try again and it was 2 weeks. Again, it did not work correctly. My husband then went on multiple websites and talked to reps and found that the computer part of the machine was last updated in 2018!!! The racing of my sewing machine and then eedle threader never working was never repaired. The repair prices went up to $175.00!! I tried to tell this shop that their repair people did not know what they were doing and I was brushed off!!! No one should have to fo 6 weeks , thennot even have anything done. Also sometimes racing is caused by the foot peddle, which the repair people do not test!! read more

This store's hours are 9-5p Mon- Friday I pulled in at 5:40 and they were closed. It is a nice store; nice fabrics, nice merchandise, great selection of notions and threads. The sales women are very knowledgeable about sewing/quilting, and machines. They are sometimes a little terse, but I have never had a problem. I enjoy coming to the store as it is around the corner from my house. I have had some good advice, as I am a beginning, quilter. One star off for the frustrations of not having correct info on this site, wishing their hours were a little longer, and the relatively small, even if nice, selection of fabrics. Rude staff! I went in to browse some fabrics and it was obvious the ladies working do not care about customer service. I didn't realize it was near closing and they made some passive aggressive remarks. As one customer was checking out she made a remark, "I don't normally take cash this close to closing. She offered a card and the cashier made it known it was inconveniencing her. Another lady came in and she makes a low handed remark to her as well. Then when she asked a question about a type of fabric the cashier audibly scoffed and did, "No! We don't carry that. Only cotton. You won't find what you need here"! So rude and unprofessional! How hard is it to say, "Thanks for coming in, I'm sorry but we close soon, if you aren't able to find what you need in time we open at 8. I can help you if you know what you are looking for." At this point I left my hiding spot, afraid to ask a question. I need to buy about 10 yards of fabric for my next project, but I'll take my money somewhere it is appreciated. read more

It's nearing the end of the year and I felt it again necessary to update my original review. The assortment of fabric is constantly changing and this makes it really fun to shop regularly. They have Moda fabric as well as a selection from well known designers such as Kaffe Fassett. Another store I go to locally, only carries a small selection of Moda, so I hit up 35th Ave Sew and Vac when I want the Moda brand. Sign up for their newsletter! You'll receive a newsletter each Sunday and it's valuable because there is a coupon for 30% an item. I typically use it for fabric. Saving 30% on quality fabric is a big plus. Also, there is typically an area of sale fabric. Today the sale area was 40% off. Check it out. The employees are friendly. I was greeted when I entered. I'm not the kind of person who needs a greeting when I enter but it's a nice touch. I've always been helped when I need it. Don't be afraid to ask for help. I've even asked the employees on their opinion on thread choice for a quilting my quilt top. They have always been courteous and professional. Last, the shopping center they are located in, has come alive in the past year or so. Goodwill opened a new store next door, there is a new Baja Fresh and a Starbucks in the same center which has livened up the scene. Parking is still very easy. read more

Bought my newest sewing machine here which I love. Babylock Brilliance which included a free lesson on how to use all the features! When All the other stores were sold out, they had stock. I'm currently working on some collages and they had a great deal of fabrics specifically for this function! I'm very satisfied with the quality as well. Everyone is so friendly! Nice store of fabric.. But regrettably a turn off for me was that no one said hi to me when I walked into the store. Understandably the ladies at the register were helping a customer.. So I proceeded to go to the left side to look at the fabric. I surprised 2 ladies talking and regrettably I wasn't able to go around them.. So I turned around and went around from the other side.. This did not stop them from chatting or get them to move. So I kept going around them. The one lady in a pink shirt was an employee and could be overheard grumbling about another employee who was told not to interrupt when someone was with a customer. Then she locked up/jammed a computer and went to her seeking HELP.. She felt this was disrespectful. I agree but if she was there just grumbling or gosipping as she was doing today.. Grow up. I regrettably wanted the 2018 Row by Row so I bought a kit. But luckily another person helped me as I would have walked out. read more

I take classes as well as shop for my fabrics and machines at the Chandler location. The ladies that work there are knowlegeable and kind. They go above and beyond to assist customers. The fabrics are high quality and the classes are not only fun but I have learned so many new techniques for embroidery and quilting. Lori the Manager is the best and always such a great source of knowledge. Victoria , Sarah, Kristol, Jan, and Stacey are not just employees but always willilng to answer any questions. Victoria is a gem for anwering questions when stumped on what to do on a quilt. When you walk in the store you are always acknowledged and asked if they can help you. You do not get that in many other of the same stores. When you purchase a machine there you can be assured you can always depend on the gals to help you figure things out even after the New Machine Classes which are also included in your purchase. I have been in the store multiple times and have seen how helpful these ladies are to everyone. Whether you buy a half yard of fabric or a large purchase these gals are customer service pros. A big shout out to the ladies at the Chandler Location. if you forgot to include any of you by name please know you are the best. You girls are awesome. I recently purchased a vintage Kenmore sewing machine, and needed one little part for it. On a friends recommendation, I came over to 35th Ave. (Don't let the name fool you, this is an East Valley location.) They were surprisingly busy for a weekday evening, but had enough staff to help everyone quickly. I really loved that they took the time to see the photos of my sewing machine to really help me out, and they shared my enthusiasm and excitement. I could find what I need on e-Bay, but having the personal interaction, and the ability to easily return something that isn't right is worth waiting for them to locate the part for me. I will be checking them out again for both my sewing and vacuum needs. read more

If you need advice, this is NOT the store. I was advised to buy an eyeglass screw for a wallet kit. It didn't work and broke the screw. Then I signed up for a class. They scheduled me for the wrong class. Luckily I caught that. They sold me the wrong supplies for the class. I have gone back 4 more times since then to get the correct supplies and they aren't in yet. Everyone tells you something different. All I hear is, "It's not our fault". I still don't have the supplies for the class, and it is going on 7 weeks now. If you are offering a class, you should have the supplies, or get them within a few weeks. I hope they come in because I've already bought everything else for the class. Ugggg! Well, the class is tomorrow and I still don't have the foot. In total, I have been to this store 8 times (9 weeks) to get the correct foot for the class. This seems unreal. I can't cancel! REALLY! read more

Wow talk about great experience. That's what I had. The ladies were friendly and let me walk around and look. Someone was there to answer questions. I was disappointed that it wasn't as big as the Glendale location, considering that it is in on the east side of town but i definitely be coming back and taking lessons. Staff (except for 1) behaves as if customers are an inconvenience. I called regarding sewing machine repair, was told to bring it in and more info would be provided. No more info was provided, just told it would take 2-3 weeks. After 4 weeks, called to check, told it takes AT LEAST 4-5 weeks. Finally returned after 5 weeks, not told what was wrong or what was repaired ("usual diagnostics"). It's been less than 90 days, and the bobbin case just cracked in half. I suppose i need to be more of a Karen and less of a meek person and demand more answers when i ask questions. Difficult to do, tho, when staff tends to ignore you most of the time. Never coming back. Would not recommend. read more

Was having some problems with my machine so I brought it in to them. The lady at the register told me to buy their vacuum attachments, that it would help. So I figured I would try it out. It totally didnt work. Plus the smell of gross plastic was totally toxic and made my whole house REEK. I kept it in the garage, in the original box until I could get back to return it. The person in charge refused the return because the tape closing the box was cut. He said he could not possibly sell it as new because of a little piece of tape. These little issues are the kind of thing that show what kind of a business it is, and how they think of their customers. Needless to say I will NEVER BE BACK. The attachments are in the trash now, what a waste of time and money. read more

I took my machine in my server to be serviced all it needed was cleaned and oiled. I drive from Seattle down to Phoenix every year and all over so I take my machines and if they need help I take them in and I've always had good luck. this time the young man to fix my machine broke the thread guides on it then he put in a new one in backwards. they will not ship it back to me. It came back sounding like a gear was out of whack. it did not see right. I had to take it back in and I was leaving I took it back in on a Monday I was leaving on the next Monday to go back to Seattle I told him I needed it right away. I had already paid $20 to get it done faster than usual the first time. I do not recommend their service department. read more

If I didn't have to give it one star I would not. I signed up for a class 3 months prior to the start of the class. It was a series of six classes and they wouldn't allow me to sign up for the others until I had taken the first. I arrived at the class and the instructor said I would be signed up for the other five classes and that everything was ok. About two hours into the class I was advised that I wasn't registered for the other classes and they were full. I wasn't the only customer who was advised that. There were three other customers who had to deal with similar situations. I will not be returning to this location nor will I take any classes from them. I am extremely disappointed at the lack of professionalism and ability to accommodate those who were affected. Specially since it was their error and not ours. They made no effort of compensation just a insincere apology. read more

Good selection of batiks. Went on a Sunday afternoon so it was not very busy. This did not turn out to be a good thing. As I was standing 5 feet away from sales counter looking thru fabrics the 3 employees stood near the counter talking. Not a bad thing except that they would be talking in a normal tone of voice, then start to whisper. It was clear that they were gossiping about someone. When they returned to normal tone of voice one of them said "and she said she acted like that when she bought it, so I don't know why she even sold it to her" That they were clearly gossiping about a customer made me feel uncomfortable. As far as service, the woman who cut my selections was very slow and no one was particularly friendly. I won't bother to go back. read more

After doing lots of research into Miele vacuums (online and in local stores), I wound up purchasing my top-of-the-line Capricorn canister vac here. I knew exactly what I wanted and brought with me a list of accessories and best prices I had found online. Jackie was great to work with--she matched the deals I had found AND threw in one of the pieces for free because I would have to return a day later to pick everything up (some things had to be brought over from another Valley location). Because of her willingness to close the deal, I was able to save about $200 dollars. The sale included an extra year on the parts warranty and two years of free maintenance. This on top of Miele's seven-year motor warranty. As I said, I shopped around locally before coming here, and from the minute I stepped inside 35th Ave, I knew I was in a great place. There was no pressure, just great service. If my vacuum is ready on time, I will return and bump up the rating to a five. ps. This store is mostly a sewing machine and fabrics dealer, and I was so impressed with what I saw (gorgeous selection of batiks) that I'm considering signing my daughter up for sewing lessons there this summer. read more

I went in to return some vacuum bags in which i understand they don't take returns on opens bags, but why such an attitude. I didn't go in there throwing the bags on the counter screaming "YOU SOLD ME THE WRONG BAGS" Though the store manager should have known better than just saying most vacuum bags are interchangeable. Good selection of patterns. Not a big selection on fleece. Very helpful women working in there though. Prices are okay considering the rare patterns. Terrible Experience! They threw away my $200 vacuum! The store manager here has absolutely no integrity and customer service is not a factor! I took my vacuum in and left it for service. I received a call from the vacuum service department and the man told me it was $24 dollars to service the vacuum. I agreed and the vacuum was in perfect working order. Under law, a verbal agreement will be binding if there was an accord on the services to be carried out and an agreement was reached on payment for this service as it was in my case. I was unable to pick up the vacuum right away so I contacted the store. Again, I spoke to a man in the vacuum department who assured me that it was not an issue and my vacuum would be there. I called again two weeks ago and said I would be in soon. Again I was told it was fine. I went in yesterday and was told that I exceeded the 30 period on the receipt and that my vacuum had been thrown away and they were not responsible. I spoke to the manager and explained that their employee told me two times not to worry about the time delay for my pickup. Between my last call to the store and my arrival my phone # changed. They made their only attempt to call me during that time and since they could not reach me they threw it out. First of all, why would anyone throw away a perfectly good vacuum when so many people are in need and there are organizations who take such items? They chose to throw it away. If they had donated it I would at least find some comfort in that. The manager agreed to call me after speaking to the vacuum repair employees however no call was received. I called them. These people have no regard for their customers. And the employees will only follow the manager's example. Poor and unacceptable! read more

I wish I could give a lower rating than zero, but I can't. I have dealt with all three locations in the past 6 weeks. In my 30plus years in the Phoenix area, I have NEVER been treated so poorly by ANY business. They sold me the wrong part that damaged my Riccar vacuum and lied about how much it would cost to fix it. My feelings were that I shouldn't have to pay anything because if they had sold me the correct part, my vacuum would not have broken to begin with. They called me to let me know the vacuum was fixed. When I saw the bill, I told them that it was not what their service tech had told me. The staff there was not able to adjust the price to what had been discussed previously, so I took the vacuum and told them I'd call the next day once they came up with a price and I'd give them my credit card # over the phone. The following morning the manager called the police and made a complaint instead of calling me. I asked her why she didn't call me instead of the police and she said, "I didn't think you'd want to talk to me." Are you kidding me??!! I sent them a check, because there was no way I was going to give these people my credit card #. Several days later, my cleaning people told me the vacuum was still broken. Sure enough, I took it apart and saw that the broken part was never replaced. After several calls, I found out from the manager from another store that they knew that my part was never installed and was still sitting at the Chandler store. No apology was ever given. When I picked up the vacuum today, I asked if I could exchange the incorrect belts they had sold me for ones that went with my model. The clerk said she couldn't because I wasn't in their system. I went out to my car and brought back my receipt and I asked why I wouldn't be in their system. She blamed it on an employee who didn't input me into their system. Again, they were willing to penalize me for their own incompetence. After I provided my receipt, they wouldn't exchange the belt stating "I'm not sure what belt goes to your vacuum, look how many are on the wall." WHAT?! If their employees don't even know how to look up what belt goes to my vacuum, what is a customer to do?! Talk about incompetence! They wouldn't even give me my money back that I spent after showing the receipt from their store. 35th Avenue Sew and Vac lied to me several times, are not competent enough to sell me the correct vacuum cleaner belt (its not rocket science), they were rude, charged me for a repair they never did and did not even come closes to meeting me half way. This fiasco caused me four round trips to their store, incredible frustration, a call from a police officer and the waste of a lot of my time. RUN, DON'T WALK AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS !!! read more

This was the company I was told by BEAM to contact regarding my warranty issues for my central vac... I am 110% UNSATISFIED with the results and the outcome of this whole process. I called BEAM to find out what to do because my power head was not working. I was told to drop off my central vac hose and power head. I was within the 3 year warranty guidelines but I was told it is up to the certified dealer to decide what is covered under warranty. The person reviewing my hose and power head wanted to charge me $330 to fix my machine because he said "I must have sucked up something sharp". The man said he counted all the holes in my hose and it was my fault there was not enough suction in the hose. The hose alone cost $330 and everything worked fine when he used another hose. I could by a whole new vacuum for that price and I would have rather done that then pay this company any money. I took my power head and hose to another certified dealer in the valley turns out to be faulty wiring and I was charged $26 for labor. Talk a scam or someone not being educated enough at their job to determine the source of the problem. Bottom line I will never buy a central vac through BEAM/Electralux with these crappy warranty guidelines and I will never go to 35th ave. read more

I think fabric sales are what is important to this company... let me explain. I took my hoover brand platinum series carpet cleaner to this location after speaking with Hoover customer service since the item failed. Hoover was replacing with a brand new unit since it had a 6 year warranty. When I took the item in, it took the clerk over five minutes to even recognize me and say " I will be with you in just a moment". Another three or so minutes passed and the clerk hastily ran over to her register to input the repair information. The clerk told me to get the model and serial number from the unit and provide it to her. I felt that should be their job since they need to make sure the information is accurate. Nonetheless, I provided the information. As the clerk was completing the claim information, a gentelman appeared and asked me what I was doing with the unit. I told him that I had spoken with Hoover customer service, namely their executive customer care department, and the item was being replaced with a new one under warranty. The gentleman laughed at me and in a round about way indicated that it does not matter what Hoover says, I should not belive them until I actually get the new unit. He said that Hoover customer service was a joke. Oh, really? Yet your company is an authorized Hoover repair center? Well, the joke is on you. It was unacceptable that I received the poor customer service when I brought the unit to you. Furthermore, when I was waiting for assistance checking in my unit for repair, you did not have one single Hoover item on display. Your company does not have anything to be desired. I have owned Hoover products for over 20 years, and this is the first time I had an item fail and had to be replaced for other than normal wear and tear. This past week, after almost a month passing, I contacted Hoover customer service and found out the replacement item was shipped and had arrived at the Phoenix location. I contacted the Chandler location and was advised that location would deliver it to the Chandler location the following morning. After the following morning passing, I contacted the Chandler location and was told it may not show up until the afternoon. Nonetheless, it did not show up for two days after arriving at the Phoenix location. I had asked the employee if I could pick the item up on Saturday and was told " I don't know if you would want to since we are having a big weekend sale ". Once again, indicating that selling their fabric is much more important than treating my issue as important. I told the employee I did not care about their sale and having waited a month for the replacement, I would be in on Saturday to pick up the new carpet cleaner. All in all, if I could give this company no stars, I would without hesitation. I will never deal with this company for ANYTHING and will drive out of my way to a competitor if I ever have a Hoover repair issue in the future. Good luck with your fabric sale.... hopefully you can make up in sales what you lack in customer service since you permanently lost a customer for life! read more

I purchased a used Babylock Ellissimo Gold II embroidery/sewing machine for $6K and even purchased the extended warranty. I took it home and made an inventory to ensure that all the bells and whistles were there. Sadly, the electronic pen that would have allowed me to draw my own embroidery motifs was not there. This was one of the selling points for my purchase of this machine in the first place. I called and was told that it would be looked into. I kept calling and was later told that when I came in to take the class on how to use this feature, I would be allowed to "borrow" the pen from their floor model. In one of my calls, I was rudely informed that that was too bad and what did I expect with a "used" machine anyway? There was never any follow-up to see how satisified I was with my machine (duh--why would they?--it's only a "used" machine), nor trying to contact me to see that this missing pen was replaced. The worst $6K I've ever spent--and I'm still paying it off. Don't buy ANYTHING from this company, they just don't care. read more
