This place is the real deal. What a great shop! Recently started skating again and had bought a pair of decent but inexpensive skates online, just to make sure I was going to enjoy it. Once I was ready to upgrade, I stopped by and I had an amazing experience! Many skates feel very narrow to my wide feet so I wasn't sure I'd find anything comfortable but Jessica @ GYBSS found me a handful of options and I am the happy new owner of some awesome skates that feel like a dream to skate in! Staffed by friendly, knowledgeable people who aren't going to try to upsell you, GYB is the perfect place for skaters of all levels to get gear. After a long dry spell in my skating routine and the realization (okay, more like being told) that my Chicago indoor skates would not work well on outdoor pavement, I made the trek up to GYB to get some proper outdoor wheels. The employees were happy to provide guidance about which wheels to get (and understood that I didn't feel comfortable dropping $$$$ on potentially unsuitable gear for my situation). The in-store work bench was fully-stocked and the staff were happy to instruct this noob how to use the tools provided to swap out wheels and bearings. When an old bearing was stuck on the axle, the staff were happy to put some elbow grease into trying to yank it off. (My Boeing engineer friend was finally able to remove it with a custom puller--thanks for giving it the old college try, y'all!) Ended up buying a skate tool and some cool laces just for the heck of it. In short, go here if you want to be sold quality gear by cool people. read more

Fantastic customer service! I came in on a busy Sunday to have the Bearings replaced on my ZUCA bag. I wasn't even sure this Roller Skating store could help with this service. Within a few minutes I was greeted by Lucy with a smile. She juggled helping four other customers with patience, expertise, and a good attitude. I was directed to Bailey for my inquiry and she said "no problem!" she not only replaced the bearings but didn't charge me! Bailey also guided me on how to fix the problem in the future. Don't let the name of this shop fool you- they have PLENTY for recreational, rink, park and street skaters so please consider this your go to roller skate shop if you live in the Seattle area! I've personally had only amazing experiences- Most recently, I had to get my plate re-mounted because the toe stop was threaded improperly and stuck permanently in my plate. I don't use toe stops, so I literally cut it off with a hack saw until I could get it replaced. Don't ask me how long that took. I paid for rush mounting and it only took the shop two days to call me and let me know that my skates were ready to be picked up! At the shop itself, the staff were so helpful and friendly, even though it was close to the end of their business day both times I visited recently. As far as their prices go, they're standard for any skate shop both online or in person. They get in shipments of both skates and wheels regularly and often announce inventory restocks on their social media. Overall, they're the only skate shop in WA that caters specifically to roller skaters, so please support them instead of ordering from shops online that are in other states (they do have a website too, just saying!) so that we all can have this commodity in our area for as long as we can! read more

local, friendly, and great range of skates. I especially loved working with (and forgive me for forgetting your name!) the gal who had moved up here from new mexico. She was patient, acknowledged my existence (seems rare in the pnw) and then very appreciative of my waiting to talk to her since she was the only one there and quite busy!! she asked me relevant questions and steered me in the right direction. She was honest about some eye candy I was asking about and didn't just try to sell me because I liked the looks of it. I went in with my husband and 2 rambunctious boys and we were happy to get the boys set up with pads, and me in the right direction of what I wanted (damnit, always the most expensive skates!!), I'll have to come back in the future, but If my girl is working (tallish, short brown hair...god! With COVID shutdowns it has been difficult getting the products I need but not only did they have what I was looking for, they arrived at my home super fast (granted I live in the Seattle area).
