The customer service here is amazing! We came in on a Sunday, and the gentleman that helped us was very informative and gave us good advice. He has an adorable small terrier pup named Bella, she is the welcoming committee here. There are very many good quality boards, roller skates, and even snowboards here! I'm not a big review guy, but right now I'm compelled to let people know about the ridiculous experience that I had last weekend at Gravity Sports in Renton. If you must go there, make sure its during the week, when a nice guy named Mike works, otherwise you'll be forced to deal with a grouchy old man named Dave(owner), My kid and I skate so we knew exactly what we were shopping for, but Dave had other plans for us. This nut job dressed me down in front of my son and the other patrons, berating me for our skateboarding preferences and what we were trying to buy. It's one thing to give advice, but man oh man, it's another thing to be so darn condescending and rude about it. I had to restrain myself before I started making irreversible decisions, so we left. Things ended up working out in the end. My son and I drove to Seattle to By and By and got what we were looking for from the friendly staff there that helped us! Upon walking into the shop, the worker (whom I can only assume is the owner) pretty much yelled at me that there were too many people in the shop & that I needed to go back outside. While I 100% completely understand that there's a shop capacity due to COVID, he did not have to yell at me rudely like a child. He simply needed to say in a friendly tone, that the shop was at full capacity & if I could kindly wait outside to be called in. That would've been totally fine, but no - - apparently decent friendliness is too difficult to muster up these days. Once I was allowed to enter I began looking at the wheel selection. After a few minutes as he was helping 4 boys with their purchase, he gruffly asked what kind of wheels I was looking for. He told me he only had a few in stock. Then in an extremely judgmental & condescending tone, he said that no wheels were good for the skates that I had, and that I should look to buy new roller skates instead. I totally get he was sharing his opinion, but goodness, no need to be condescending towards me as if I'm stupid. I like to support local, and I was very disappointed with my experience here, especially because a few years ago my sister bought a longboard from this shop. The next day I went to Zumiez in Bellevue & had a wonderful customer service experience & got exactly what I needed. The friendly staff that could teach this gentleman a thing or 2 about customer service, let alone basic human decency when talking to people. read more

My first impression when I walked into this shop is how cozy it was- it felt like the kind of skate shop you would find on a boardwalk by the beach in the 1980's, except this is a quaint shop in Renton in an unsuspecting location. I was immediately greeted by Dave and Mike, and when I explained to them that I was looking for a helmet to fit my hair (I'd you saw my hair you'd understand) they said they could help me without hesitation and helped me try on several helmets! Mike was so knowledgeable about their stock and coached me on how the helmet should properly fit, how I know it's time for a new one, and how to adjust it as well as answered any other questions I had- I'm SO grateful for this experience because I've heard rumors about skate shops being cliquey or standoffish towards women, but that absolutely was not the case here. I had such a great experience and I confidently went to the skatepark today without fear of busting my ass and getting a concussion. I would call this trip a success! read more

Great skate shop! The guys there are super nice. They know their stuff and can offer good advice. I bought a couple sets of wheels today. For one board I only needed a super cheap and small set of wheels for my dogs skateboard and asked a bunch of questions. There was NO pressure to buy the most expensive thing, which I really liked. 3 things illustrate how chill the shop is: a) they let me ask several questions about wheels for MY DOG'S skateboard, b) they gave good advice for my longboard and my dog's board and c) I got no grief for any of it :) Plus the collection of older boards on display around the shop is awesome to see. read more

Love these guys! Had a great experience buying a board from David and Mike at Gravity Sports. I'm an older guy (just turned 50), wanting to take up skateboarding again for the first time in probably 40 years. After asking me a couple questions about what I hoped to do, David knew exactly what I needed and put together a great board for me. Ive been a commuter skateboarder on and off for 5 years I have a old school skateboard set up and love it!!! I too would drive by this shop until one day I needed a tune up on my old board I was hesitant to go because I didn't know how they would respond but I got the nerve to go in and Mike and the crew were so cool and treated me with respect he did check up on my board and I was good to go I loved how the shop was set up with old boards and new boards its like a mini skateboard museum!. one time I gave my board away I was so down about it and didn't have alot of money and I came in and you know these guys set me up again on an old school skateboard!!!! I came in for some outdoor wheels for my derby skates and to check out the place for the first time, as I haven't been on skates or any type of board (skate/surf/snow) since moving to the area three years ago. David and Mike were super helpful and gave me a great education on gear. I used to work in a skate shop on the east coast and learned more in 30 minutes with them than I did in the year working at the other place. I really appreciate how they took the time to show me how I could make my current gear last longer, and also how to pick future gear so that I could invest wisely in the future and not just buy cheap stuff that would need to get replaced every year/season. It's rare to find that attitude and service like that. All in all, I got a great vibe from Gravity and the guys I met working there. This place is LEGIT without having the attitude that creep out of places I'm used to in the mid Atlantic or SoCal. Skate shops can be really intimidating for anyone, and as a woman, person of color, and newbie to the neighborhood on top of it all, even more so. Gravity place was super welcoming and comfortable. It felt like going to your friend with the cool family members' house. Bonus points for the decor-- they basically have a history of skating up on the walls and ceilings. read more

I needed to find a place to tune up our family's skis for this ski season...and I wanted to find someplace local. Turns out, Gravity Sports had a deal on Amazon Local/Living Social. $20 for edging, waxing, grinding etc. I had only driven by this place before, and always just thought it was a skate shop (of no interest to me). Not only is it a skate shop, but they sell/repair snowboards, boogie boards, and surf boards too. They also sell clothing and other gear as well. Their customer service was great-a friendly, kinda cool guy runs the shop, and is knowledgeable about skis in addition to all the board stuff. I will return here every year for ski tune-ups. And when I need to order boots, skis, etc., I will very likely do it through them just to support their business. read more

These guys are super cool and socially responsible. About a year ago, i had to do a marketing report as part of my business degree at Central Washington University where I was also a member of Ssa Cwu​. The assignment was to work with a business in the area, including interviews with the owners/managers and write the report with other group members. The "marketing report" is part of the curriculum for all the business students, and it is also one of the projects that students don't seem to look forward to. Many other groups talked about how they were having trouble interviewing and getting information out of the people at the businesses they had chosen. The owner at Gravity Sports directed me to Mike, and to make a long story short, I aced the class with a 4.00 (A). Mike is extremely helpful and knowledgeable and gave me his undivided attention to get the info I needed. Another time I called Mike about a pair of skis that I was going to buy on Craigslist. Mike was happy to give me the info I needed to make an informed decision not to buy the skis. I haven't actually bought anything from them, but I am still treated as if I am a best customer. If I was a skater, this would be the obvious choice for the people I would want to deal with. I highly recommend these guys to any skaters out there. read more

I've seen this little hole in the wall shop in dtown Renton countless times when driving by, but never really thought to actually stop in. Groupon recently featured a deal: $20 for $40 worth of services. Base grind, hot wax, edge tune. I just happened to need a base grind on one of my snowboards, which had taken some early season abuse, so I jumped on this deal. They did a great job and had it back to me on time and the owner was super cool. I would def recommend them for tuning services if you live nearby. Getting in/out of the parking lot can be a bit of a pain though. read more

Been buying skateboarding stuff stuff from Gravity since 1986... My parents used to rent skis there before that. They are as knowledgeable as you will find, and they use the products they sell. If they don't have what you want in stock, just ask- they have special ordered things for me in the past numerous times.
