Penang curry with tofu and shrimp, substituted the bell peppers for carrots
    Ashi F.

Walking in I was greeted with the warmest smile and an offer to order from "the menu" posted in front of the register. I got a raised eyebrow at my request for "10 out of 10" on the spice level, but 10 it was! Unlike many other restaurants that look at me and think "he can't handle it!" this place delivered. Because I subsisted carrots instead of bell peppers I was offered a choice: sliced or chunks of carrots (the kind they put in yellow curry). I opted for sliced ones and wasn't disappointed. When it came to tofu, again I was offered a choice: soft tofu or fired. I opted for the traditional soft tofu, that pasted perfectly with the shrimp. The place seems to do lots of business with online delivery services, knocking out a steady stream of online orders. Ambiance Is basic, and unless you're in the area for lunch I'd recommend ordering to go. You won't be disappointed!

A very sad Pad Thai with "chicken"
    Candace P.

I can over here to get lunch while on Jury Duty. I ordered the pad Thai lunch special and waited for 25 minutes for them to bring it out and it has just barely 3 pieces of chicken. I asked about it and they said because it was the lunch special it was less chicken. This is ridiculous. They gave me a refund and I went across the street to McDonald's so that I could have something to eat before heading back for Jury Duty.

One start is for the gentlemen that was present when I picked up my order around 6:20 today 12-4-2025 as he had no basic customer service skills as he was counting money. No Hi or welcome and when I called him out about not acknowledging me he gave me an attitude and racing his shoulders like saying "so what" I have picked up food from here and never seen this person. Love the food here, I order delivery and pick up but this experience makes me not want to pick up food again as I don't like to be confronted like this.

    Fried rice chicken

This was absolutely terrible. I ordered delivery through Uber and this is what I got. Just two thin pieces of chicken. Are you kidding me? I highly do not recommend this "restaurant."

I got the hell fish and veggie fried rice and i found a weird object in my food..it was hard and seemed like it was a nasty large insect

A real gem, best Thai food in dtla, I had pad Thai, and the thai iced tea are an amazing combo, we also had the thai hot wings, Ive seen yelp doesn't do justice to this place, very polite lady in the front took care of us right away! Definitely recommend!! ,

First time trying this place on Uber Eats. Ordered papaya salad, crab garlic pepper, and thai tea. Even though I added grilled shrimp to the papaya salad for an upcharge and literally received 3-4 broken pieces, everything was acceptable except the crab garlic pepper. Refunded, thankfully, but this wasn't what was described at all. The menu said crab meat, but I got thin crab legs in shell fried hard with a super salty, sticky, and clumpy sauce and plain rice (I can't tell if it was even jasmine) on the side. I was expecting a stir-fried dish over jasmine rice. Very misleading -- hope they update the description. Also no straw for the thai tea and one soy sauce packet and one tiny thimble of chili sauce.

Amazing Pad Thai Chicken highly recommend in dtla and the egg rolls and the Thai tea is bomb

Seafood soup and you can *barely* see the shrimp fried rice. Trust me, it was DELICIOUS!

There is sometimes street parking but the availability is rough, it's tough to park, and even one of the meters we ended up at just didn't work. They only charge a $5 cash service charge though, which isn't bad. We were lucky to be seated right away, even in a packed restaurant. The restaurant has a surprisingly modern design, and is comfortable for as small as it is. We were quickly served their signature kimchis and barley rice. The kimchi, particularly the yeolmu (young summer radish) kimchi, has a unique flavor profile well suited to their food. We ordered 2 bowls of their plain kalgooksu, 1 bibim milmyun, and 1 tteokbokki. The food came out fairly quickly. The kalgooksu was as expected the star of the show. The anchovy broth brings a savory complexity that seems impossible for a soup made from just dried fish and a few other ingredients. It even has a rich, almost thick, quality to it that is surprising for a fish broth. Their noodles, the titular kalgooksu, have the signature irregularity and chew of knife cut noodles. I appreciate the vegetables that always come in kalgooksu, like potato, pumpkin, and zucchini, which offer an earthy heartiness to the light soup. My only complaint is that the potato is in huge irregular chunks, and is barely cooked, though I feel like I have had this issue with many of the kalgooksu bowls I've had over the years. The bibim milmyun was solid. I think that I prefer the texture and flavor of naengmyeon buckwheat noodles, but the milmyun, which are made with mostly wheat flour, still provide a satisfying chew. The sauce tasted bright and fresh, especially with a splash of added vinegar. It also came with a small side portion of spicy pork and some rice paper to wrap. The tteokbokki was the one let down of the meal. To be fair, I wasn't expecting much out of tteokbokki at all restaurant like this whose specialty is essentially the opposite. I ordered the tteokbokki as a "safe pick" for a picky eater in the group. It turned out to be a bit mediocre in our opinion, and that friend ended up enjoying their kalgooksu anyways. If you're looking to try this dish, it's definitely one of if not the best I've had in Southern California, so I'd totally recommend it. I'll also warn to steer clear of the Garden Grove restaurant of the same name and specialty. I think it's a disappointing mimicry of this place.

There was not anyone at the restaurant at the time, but people did start trickling in as more time elapsed. We got our food relatively quickly as well. FOOD: I ordered the spicy pork tsukemen ($23.45), which is their dipping noodle. The noodles are thicker than standard ramen, but in a good way! It comes with thick chashu (thick, fatty pork) slices and soft boiled eggs. If you haven't had tsukemen before, you essentially dip your noodles into the broth and then eat it that way. The broth is extremely flavorful and there are also pieces of chashu in it as well. The only critique that I have regarding this is the broth was lukewarm which made the dish taste slightly off. I've tried this dish at another branch and the broth was also lukewarm there, so I'm not sure if this is a location issue or a standard amongst all branches. Also, this dish does not really have any vegetables in this, but I also don't know if traditional tsukemen has veggies included. SERVICE: Service was quick and everyone was nice and doing their job. Didn't seem like the staff was slacking or messing around while there weren't many customers. They were very attentive to us, refilling our water immediately once they saw it was getting low, and being very attentive towards if we had any other concerns or if we needed anything else. PARKING: There technically is street parking but since it's in Little Tokyo, it's going to be very difficult to find it. There's $4-6 valet parking available nearby the location. There are a lot of people walking around though so just be safe. INTERIOR: It's not too big of a place but it's also not too small as well. It looks very well kept and clean. BATHROOM: Two gender neutral bathroom stalls that are both very clean and accessible. No issues here with them. TLDR: Overall, I thought the place was pretty good to eat at! I would definitely come back for the tsukemen (as long as the broth is warmed up until it's hot). A very good dish combined with great music (they have some great Japanese music variety) is definitely a spot worth coming to with friends !! :))

It's been sitting on my saved list for a while, and honestly, this turned out to be the perfect opportunity. The space itself is bright, clean, and welcoming with warm woody tones throughout. Casual setup where you order at the counter and they bring the food out to you. I had already looked through the menu beforehand, so the real challenge was narrowing down what to order for one person. I failed at that... and I'm very happy I did. Started with the Pig Ear Salad 滷豬耳朵. Braised thin sliced pig ears dressed with soy sauce, chili oil, sesame oil, scallion, and cilantro. OMG. So good. Tender, flavorful, perfectly braised, with that satisfying chewy texture done right. Also got the Fried Peanut Salad 五味花生 with garlic, cilantro, scallions, vinegar, and Thai chili. Super crunchy, bright, refreshing, and honestly addicting. I added a cup of the Hot & Sour Soup 酸辣湯 too. Organic tofu, beech mushroom, carrot, bamboo, woodear mushroom, and egg. Super comforting with a really balanced tang and peppery heat. Not overly thick or heavy like a lot of Americanized versions can be. Exactly the kind of soup you want during a long travel day. For noodles, I ordered the Dan Dan Noodles 擔擔麵. Sesame-peanut sauce, cucumber, cilantro, crushed peanuts. Delicious on its own already, but I ended up adding some of the fried peanuts from the salad into the noodles and it became even better. Then the Three Cup Chicken 三杯雞 with sesame oil, soy sauce, rice wine, and Thai basil. I do wish it had a little more wok hei, but overall the flavor was still really comforting and savory. Extremely good with rice. Had a glass of Gewürztraminer alongside everything, which paired surprisingly well with the spice and aromatics. Their wine list leans more organic / natural wine focused, which felt very LA in a good way. Ended up sitting at a high top next to one of the managers and had a great conversation throughout the meal. She ended up hooking me up with the Traditional Shaved Ice 傳統刨冰 with grass jelly, red bean, boba, sweet potato balls, taro balls, brown sugar syrup, and condensed milk. I was already planning to order it anyway, and wow... I finished the entire thing. The brown sugar syrup was incredibly fragrant. Packed the leftovers to-go, and that ended up becoming my dinner after landing in San Francisco later that evening. Flight cancellation somehow turned into a really great food day.

I particularly liked their brown sugar milk team as it comes with boba and grass jelly. And their mochi was SO delicious. This would be a place my parents would enjoy a lot.
