    10. Marinated Spicy Pork Rib Red Chili Paste : Lunch Special was such a great deal!
    Brian S.

This is one of the best Korean meals I've ever had in the US. I arrived at 2pm, just in time for the lunch specials (which end at 3pm). There were a few diners but the restaurant was not super busy. I was seated quickly. The menu all looks amazing, I had a hard time deciding, but I chose my favorite Korean dish, spicy pork. The portion was HUGE. There were half a dozen bonchon, a soup, rice, and then probably a pound of spicy pork (which I'm proud to say I did finish). Other than maybe the sliced green onions, which were super plain, the meal was so good. The pork was super tender and flavorful, some of the best I've had. The pricing was great too. With tip, my meal came out to just over $24, a phenomenal price for so much good food. I'll be back for sure, this restaurant was amazing!

This is the place to go for amazing Korean comfort food. It has an authentic vibe that feels cozy and homey. The menu has just the right amount of variety without being too big or overwhelming. My order was taken pretty quickly and the food did not take long at all to be served. My husband and I ordered a few dishes to share: Leek Pancake: A great sharing dish that is served in many slices. The pancake only used a light batter, so most of the flavor was coming from leeks. I enjoyed the garlicky and aromatic flavors that naturally came from the greens. Cold Noodle: Light, refreshing, and the perfect food to eat during warm weather. The ice-cold broth was tangy yet had a clean, savory flavor. I really liked the chewiness of the buckwheat noodles. Beef Short Rib: Very delicious and tender ribs, which were slightly sweet and extra savory. These were juicy and flavorful with a charred flavor on the outside. The meat came off the bones really easily. Pork Soup with Rice: This dish includes a milky, collagen-rich broth that is comforting to eat. Soaking the rice in some broth is a must to get the perfect bite. The pork was thinly sliced and tender, making it super easy to chew. Everything here was so delicious. We were stuffed by the end of our meal, but nothing gave a heavy feeling. Even the service was excellent with friendly staff members. Another bonus is the free parking lot located right next to the restaurant. This restaurant is as good as it gets.

There's plenty of authentic Korean food in LA/Ktown but there's none like Jinsol Gukbap around. Atmosphere here is just like any Korean restaurant, once you enter, you'll see a wall full of signatures from celebrities that visited the restaurant before. Notable names include S.Coups from Seventeen. Parking is available in the back of the restaurant, free parking but it's a bit tight. Known for their pork soup, that's exactly what my wife and I ordered. Along with that, we also ordered the cold noodle + beef short rib combo. We were also given a plate of leek pancake as service. Our orders were taken quickly and food arrived just as fast. Staff here is friendly and extremely fast, love the energy overall. The leek pancake was a surprise to my wife and I. We usually order seafood pancake so this is pretty similar. The leek certainly takes plenty of the flavoring which is great, very savory and crunchy, a perfect side dish with your soup dishes. As a big fan of cold noodles, Jinsol Gukbaps cold noodles were just as good. Portions are plenty and the ingredients are same as what you usually get at other restaurants. 10/10 dish, highly recommend beef short ribs were wonderful as well, each piece was cut easily and not tough at all. The pork soup w/ rice, their signature is certainly comfort food vibes. The aroma is soothing and the pork portion is insane for a typical pork dish. Overall, a wonderful authentic Korean restaurant with friendly staff, high quality food, and overall good vibes. There's plenty of tables so wait times shouldn't be too long. Absolutely worth checking out Jinsol Gukbap if you're in the area.

Yummmmmmmm! I have been wanting to go to Jinsol Gukbap for a long time now. So glad I finally made my way out there. The pork belly stew was so delicious. I also loved the banchan. The portion is big enough for 3 people or you're guaranteed some leftovers. They have their own parking lot which is great because parking in the area can be difficult. The staff are friendly & give great recommendations.

This is one my kid's and my favorite spot to go to in Ktown. Their Banchan is so good!! Service is always great here and the ambiance is cozy, it reminds me of Korea. They are so sweet, they found put it was my kid's birthday and they brought out japchae (Korean glass noddles. I only thought you ate seaweed soup on your birthday but I guess you eat both) Great special during the day, only $25 and you get to pick 2 items. They have 2 locations, but I like this one. Food- *boiled pork (delicious, comes with a little pork soup) *special-pork soup and galbijae *unlimited banchan - side dishes.

I am a regular at this jinsol location. The best part is having free parking while eating at a ktown restaurant. I love their pork soup with rice or bibimbap in hot stone pot. When the weather is cold, I order the pork soup. When the weather is hot, I order the bibimbap. The pork soup already has some gochujang at the bottom and mixing it makes the soup gradually spicier but to a still tolerable level. I love that the pork meat is generous and thinly sliced so it stays tender. Depending on how I feel I also add a bit of salt into the soup. Overall, food is consistently delicious. Service is relatively consistent and decent compared to most local korean restaurants.

On Saturday, February 21th my whole family went to Jinsol Gukbap for a late lunch. My two brothers had gone out for Korean BBQ and drinks with friends on Friday night and needed something comforting for hangover recovery. In the morning, after getting massages all together, they said they wanted something warm, so we decided on gukbap. This place is especially famous for its pork gukbap, and many well-known Korean celebrities have visited over the years. In the past, it used to be a place where you had to wait quite a long time to get a table, but since we went at a later hour this time, we were happy that we could be seated right away without waiting. My parents and both of my brothers each ordered the pork gukbap and I ordered the bulgogi served in a hot stone pot (ttukbaegi bulgogi). The ttukbaegi bulgogi was a bit sweet, but still tasty. The food here is good, and the staff are friendly, so it's a place we visit from time to time. I think this was probably my fifth visit, but this is my first time writing a review. FYI) There used to be a Korean BBQ restaurant called Dongiljang, which sadly closed during the COVID pandemic. I really loved their Grilled beef sirloin, especially the fried rice they made at the table after the meat. I was very disappointed when they closed. One of the waitresses who used to work at Dongiljang now works here at Jinsol, and as soon as I saw her, I said, "Oh, Dongiljang!" She smiled and said yes--she had worked there before. She greeted us warmly and was very friendly, which made the visit even more memorable.

I love this place and they are the real deal in terms of the pork meat soup. I've been a fan of this place since they opened. The soup and the meat are so good and the pork meat is so tender and nice. The kimchi, side dishes are also so good. They boiled the pork bone broth for 24 hours to make sure the soup is right and perfect. They have really good pork BBQ too. Probably the best pork meat soup in K town LA or perhaps the best in US. The service is friendly and quick as well. The place is clean and well organized too. Did I mention they have $8.99 for soju? Which is almost half price of the other places. I highly recommend this place and I am going to go back there myself soon.

Found this spot on social media and it looked so good. We only had one evening in LA and decided to give it a try. Parking 10/5. Free with plenty of spaces and security on the lot. Vibes 10/5. Cozy and homey with super friendly servers. I ordered the spicy cold noodles with galbi. The noodles hit the spot and were a solid 4/5 though not the best I've had. The galbi was just ok at 2.5/5 and I would skip it next time. Hubby got the pork soup and it was excellent at 4.5/5. It tasted very close to what I had in Korea. We didn't get the saeujeot fermented salted shrimp and I didn't know you could ask for it but you definitely should since it adds so much depth to the soup. I would absolutely order this again. The leek pancake was fresh and crispy at 4/5. I enjoyed it even though hubby didn't love it as much. Their banchan was a little weak which was disappointing. Overall this is a great comfort food spot and worth a visit.

Finally made it to the original Jinsol Gukbap on 3rd in K-Town and it definitely lived up to the reputation. Everything we had was solid, but the pork soup with rice was easily my favorite. The broth was super comforting with a really clean taste and no gaminess at all. One of those dishes that just hits the spot, especially on a colder day. The pork belly slices and marinated spicy pork ribs were great additions too. We also tried the hot stone bibimbap and leek pancake, both of which were solid. One thing that surprised me was the braised beef short rib with vegetables. It seems like a newer item and not necessarily what they're known for, but it ended up being really good and definitely worth ordering. Overall, I can see why people keep coming back to this place. If it's your first time, the pork soup with rice is a must.

4.5/5 You know a shop is authentic when the staff start speaking to you in Korean. Upon walking in, they immediately spoke to us in Korean, and only swapped to English when we responded with such. The menu also includes Chinese, which my mother and I surmise is because this is an old shop, either with older Korean owners or older Korean local frequenters. My table ordered the Pork soup, cold noodles, Bibimbap, and LA Galbi. Every item was pretty darn good! My favorite was the Bibimbap which was smoky and perfectly crispy at the bottom. I chose to visit this establishment after having seen it on Yelp's top broth list. And the broth did not disappoint. It was good, but I'm not sure it was necessarily one of the best broths I've had.

Yugaejang, soondaegukbap, sooyuk (large), buchujeon, gookbap

This establishment is a staple in LA Koreatown. There are several locations in the area but we like this one because there is a parking lot adjacent to the building and the restaurant itself is very spacious. The staff is friendly and the food comes out quickly. Everything tastes delicious but my personal favorites are the buchujeon and the sundaegookbap.

Coming back for so many times!!! Small pork hot plate for 1-2 people, has soup on the side and include 1 rice. They used to give extra vermicelli for free but now not anymore. Imagine you have a cold / in the cold winter and you have boiling pork slices , a side of soup , warm rice, and peppers/ chili to warm your day

Are there any vegetarian options? Trying to come here with a friend but they are vegetarian!

I called them and asked. They said no vegan options.

Is this place wheelchair friendly/ada compliant?

While it could probably accommodate a wheelchair, it's a small, BUSY restaurant with a lot of tables and chairs and bodies moving around, so probably not ideal.

Such a nice option when you want something a little different without going across town. We ordered the coconut beef adobo, pork ribs, and the cornbread bibingka. The coconut beef adobo was definitely the standout for me. It kind of reminded me of Bicol express with a slight tanginess. Super flavorful and really good with steamed rice. The pork ribs were not your typical saucy, sweet, fall off the bone type. These were more dry style with a bark that can be a little tough, but the meat itself was still juicy underneath. The cornbread bibingka was also really good. It felt like the perfect mix of classic cornbread and bibingka, slightly sweet and soft, and the sugar on top was a nice touch. Portions were solid too. My husband and I had enough leftovers for the next day. Overall, really glad we finally got to try it, and we would definitely love to try more of their dishes someday.

I prefer my meat done a certain way, so it's nice having that control, and everyone can cook it to their own preference. One downside is that service can be slow during lunch hours, as they often seem understaffed.

I came here for a lunch recently and I think this was a good time overall!…read more I don't really have anything bad to say about this experience. The place is somewhat small but does still fit a good number of people inbetween various booth and table sizes filled with grills in them. The staff were very quick and efficient and the food was pretty good overall. I got the beyond beef bowl as a combo. I do wish they let us know about the included miso soup wasn't vegetarian at first because I had to switch it for the seaweed salad later but at least the staff were very accommodating. I guess the negative would be is it felt like a "rushed" experience and the food didn't blow me away. But compared to everything with roast costs, I still think it's pretty decent and they have a good "happy hour".

As someone who grew up in Los Angeles, this review honestly pains me to write…read more.. Woody's used to be a birthday tradition for me growing up. If you know, YOU KNOW. Back in the day, you had to get there early because the place STAYED PACKED, and their ribs were THEE reason to go. They were hands down some of the best ribs I ever had as a kid. They put me on. Fast forward 15-20 years later, and today was my first time coming back since my teenage years. I tried calling ahead to place an order, but couldn't get through. Honestly, that didn't surprise me because Woody's was always busy. I figured it was still the same old Woody's. Then I pulled into the parking lot around 6 PM on a Thursday. Immediately, there was parking available. That alone felt odd. No line. Plenty of parking. Not a single customer inside. That should have been my first sign. We ordered beef ribs, sliced brisket, mac and cheese, and dessert. They were out of the banana pudding, so we settled for peach cobbler. The total was around $50, which isn't bad for dinner for two. The excitement really started to hit when we got home and opened everything up. Unfortunately, that's when reality set in. The mac and cheese was terrible. Completely flavorless, watery, and mushy. The pasta was so overcooked it practically fell apart and blended together like baby food. It tasted old and had absolutely no seasoning or richness whatsoever. First and last time ordering that. Next was the brisket. The slices were gray, dry, and looked like they'd been sitting around for a while. I took one bite and immediately said, "Absolutely not." Another disappointment. But I wasn't too worried yet because I came for one thing: THE RIBS. The flavor was actually still there. The sauce and seasoning reminded me of the Woody's I remembered. BUT THE TEXTURE... A completely different story. The ribs weren't tender, weren't juicy, and definitely weren't falling off the bone. They were tough enough that I found myself working for every bite. At that point, the empty parking lot, empty dining room, and lack of lines made a lot more sense. By the end of the meal, I ended up rinsing the remaining ribs off so my dog could enjoy them as a chew toy. What hurts most isn't the bad meal--it's seeing what was once a legendary BBQ spot become a shadow of what it used to be. I almost wish I hadn't come back because it tarnished some really great childhood memories for me. I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, but I also believe in being honest. Maybe I caught them on a bad day, but based on this experience, Woody's is not the Woody's I remember, and unfortunately, I won't be returning. If it's any consolation, the cobbler was okay. But not worth going out of my way for.
