Was in the mood for stew. Googles "best stew in Los Angeles." This place came up. Is this the best stew in Los Angeles? No idea. It's the only place I've had stew in Los Angeles. But as beef stew goes...it wasn't stew-ish enough. Mostly because it has some strong seasonings, and the pieces of beef were cut really small, so it was more like a beef stir fry. That said, it was really tasty. Very flavorful, and the quality of the beef was good. I can see myself going there again. As for he place itself, the staff were nice, though going at lunch meant they were a little (and understandably) distracted. The website makes it seem like it's just for pick-up or delivery, but they have a couple small tables, both inside and outside. And I do mean small. Two people max. There's also a decent sized parking lot (the place is in a mini mall), and there's usually street parking, but at the moment Wilshire is under construction, so plan accordingly. read more

This place, located in a tiny lot/strip mall, specializes in soup. The soup I ordered tasted like it was made from scratch. It had really delicious fresh ingredients. The service was very friendly and helpful. I think the spot is more conducive to more takeout though as there's only limited seating inside and out. I bookmarked this spot a while back because I came across and thought to myself that there's not a lot of places that specializes in different types of soup (my frame of reference is the soup nazi from the Seinfeld episode - lots of places that serve soup in the area but not specializes in different types like this spot). I was feeling a little under the weather at the time, so I thought grabbing soup would be a great idea. I ordered the chicken bone broth soup and it was exactly what I needed. I like that I had a little bit of tartness to it as well, as I like to squeeze lemon into my chicken soup personally. Definitely would love to come back and try more of their delicious soups. Parking at this location is a little tight. But I think I've came during a time it wasn't that busy and got lucky. read more

Nice cozy spot, not designed for fine dining but they have some tables inside and outside if you want to eat there. I tried Beyran, a traditional Anatolian (Antep) soup and it was fine. Parking is a problem. Also look for the store name "Gas robot Eats" instead of Soupchu. All meats in the menu are halal, noted inside the store's posted menu. Aside from soups they have a variety of burgers and kebabs as well as traditional Turkish meals such as "Hünkar Beğendi". read more

I ordered through DoorDash so my experience might be different than if you ordered directly through them. I ordered the Bone Broth Chicken soup and it was pretty good. It's pretty herby and tastes homey. I have a cold right now and I felt pretty good immediately after having the soup! I will say it's a bit pricy, I think I paid $10.50 for a bowl of soup, that didn't have too much chicken in it, and it came with a small slice of bread. I added extra bread for $2.50 and it was really just 1 more slice of bread (cut into 2 pieces). Again, DoorDash typically inflates pricing, but I did feel like it was a bit expensive for what it was. read more

Soupchu is apart of a multi concept kitchen and I've had items from a few of their different menus. Everything I've had has always been phenomenal. I literally couldn't wait until I was done eating to write this review this time. Today I tried their beef stew and good lord it's perfect. Even the white rice is so flavorful. Everything always tastes fresh and is simple and comforting. Not to mention themyhave some of my favorite hummus anywhere. I can't recommend these guys and gastrobot eats enough Ps i'm glad they started including side sizes online to try more of their stews and soups. Not the best pho I've had in LA but was clean, with great service and tasty. The servers were polite and helpful. Cool that you can build your own soup. I couldn't finish mine and it was really nice the next day once it had time to marinate. The worst part was parking but that is expected in K Town. Fall is for comfort food and after a week-long heat wave we had a cold spell, so when my co-worker mentioned soup for lunch I was in! She suggested Soupchu. I hadn't heard of it and checked out the menu online. Based out of San Fran, Soupchu offers a variety of vegan & vegetarian soups. They all sounded so good, and I was excited about the opportunity of having something other than Miso soup, which is my go-to. I ordered the Tomato Roasted Bell Pepper. It contained shredded mozzarella and came with bread from Acme bakery, which is also based in San Francisco. The bread was good and the soup was flavorful and tasted homemade. Ordered the bone broth noodle soup and Grandma's Banana Pudding from DoorDash. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much because I hate soup, but I needed soup today due to a cold. WOW! The Bone Broth Noodle Soup was amazing! It was light, not too oily, flavorful and the couscous made it more fun to eat. The bread that came with the soup was also great and wish I ordered more bread. Dang, this place is delicious! Got the chicken soup and devoured it, even though it's literally 80 degrees in my house right now. I wanted to give the place a try because I love a good soup and there aren't many soup places in LA. I also think it was quite a lot of food for the price. $10.50 for any meal amount of food from a nice restaurant in LA is kind of unheard of. This is a two for one because Sumac and Soupchu are part of the Gastro bot, a collection of three restaurants one block east of LaBrea on Wilshire Boulevard. Sumac and Soupchu are both Mediterranean and Turkish restaurants, which really other than a couple tables is for takeout. The friendly server took my order from three different restaurants to choose from. From Sumac I ordered the Babaganoush which was extremely fresh and tasty. I had not had such flavorful Babaganoush since I spent a month driving around Turkey. Merhaba! I also order the Gluten Free Red Lentil Soup. This soup was amazingly tasty and lasted for 3 cups. I hope this place does well because I want to return to try more items from the menu. The wraps & protein bowls are as amazing as the soup. Everything they make is bursting with flavor. The owner is often on-site making food or serving customers. He is kind, welcoming & eager to introduce you to healthy options. They are organized & everything is fresh. So, things are done fast & take out is a breeze. I am a big supporter of locally-owned small businesses. My quest to support these businesses became more critical since the pandemic. Soupchu falls into this category so I decided to give it a try. I ordered the red lentil wrap and the collard soup. I can't speak to staff or setup of the interior/exterior of the restaurant because I ordered delivery. The presentation was good. They have environmentally friendly packaging which is always a bonus. They wrapped my soup so it remained in tact (no spillage) and kept it hot. The wrap was good (base price $16). Fresh and sauces added a little extra kick that enhances the overall flavor (hot sauce & what I think was supposed to be fresh herb labneh sauce [1.00-1.50 respectively on DoorDash]). The collard soup was also fresh but the taste was good but not great. I would definitely try other soups since they are a soup restaurant and not count them out based on this one ($9.00 on DD). Overall I am pleased with my meal and would dine in person next time and would ask for recommendations. read more

Pleasantly surprised by this spot! I was craving a stew so I found them on uber eats and thought I'd give it a try. Their stew was bomb. Tasted authentically homemade and so much left over too. I'm currently sick and saw that their chicken soup had a lot of great reviews (I normally don't like chicken soup). I ordered it three times now!! I Had surgery coming up the next day and soup was my last meal before fasting, I am celiac and he joyfully said he would make everything himself to assure my soups were free of allergens, AND ON TOP OF THAT he gave me extra soup for post recovery also shared his story of how he had surgery and not to be afraid. The carrots were small diced no big pieces. The picture on the website is deceptive. There was nothing floating on the top. Spent almost $50 here and had to throw most of the food away. The chicken couscous soup was SOOOOO salty. I took one bite and couldn't finish it. Also ordered the Sultan's Delight. The yogurt tasted like it was old and expired. Wish they would have put it on the side because there was so much of it mixed in with the bowl that I couldn't eat it. The meat was dry. The rice, pita, and spicy ezme were good and the only things I was able to eat, but I wouldn't have paid that much for it. So much for trying a new place.
