Whenever I go to Reno for pickleball, this is the place I go. Clean and friendly staff. Keep coming back to play more!

Playing at 3rd Shot Pickleball. Great games and the awesome bartender RYLIE made me a great after game drink.

Classes are 45 minutes long and the coaches are great! It gets the kids energy out as it not only is physical but with toddlers it teaches them to listen and follow directions! They teach them warm up drills, color matching, run after hula hoops, kicking the ball, stacking cones and knocking them down with a ball. Every class is different! Is toddler-parent centered so you get to be in the field with your little one! You pay annual fee and then you pay a separate fee for the season such is about 2 months long. This can all be found in their website. Once walking into the sportsdome you are greeted with people watching from the outside looking into the different games, kids and their patients sitting at tables eating, or just hanging out. On the left side is a big indoor field and the right the field is divided in half with a net, that is where soccer sprouts is held! If you continue go to straight you pass by the hangout which serves food and at the end you'll see the basketball courts. Living in reno this is a facility to host outdoor sports inside! I've been a member of the Caughlin Club for four years and I'm what you'd call a heavy user --…read moregoing five days a week religiously that entire time -- so I feel like my review is about as fair and accurate as you'll get. The bottom line is that I went to this gym because it's close to my house, has a beautiful and well kept outdoor pool that's heated year round, and a traditional sauna which is somewhat hard to find these days. But the reality is that I didn't use those amenities very often. What I did use often was the weight room and the woman's restroom. I can say with confidence that the weight room is substandard, bordering on dangerous, and the woman's restroom is also substandard and generally unclean. Neither Marlene, the manager, nor the main staff are very pleasant or friendly. Marlene seems to pick the members who she likes and I've never been on that list for whatever unknown reason. I'm largely ignored by them all unless they need something from me. I once overheard Marlene asking another staff member about me one day when I accidentally spilled my water and asked for a towel to clean it up. The younger staff are much friendlier and more helpful. Back when they had a suggestion box, I filled it out often asking basic things like, why don't you get a hand dryer in the women's restroom that actually works instead of providing Kleenex to dry our hands (I'm not kidding), or why not provide updated leg machines that every other gym has so I don't have to spend several minutes setting up or fighting over the single Smith machine. They eventually took away the suggestion box. I'm comfortable financially so I don't mind the $130 monthly membership if I'm getting value, but obviously I don't feel like I am. Each February we pay an additional $150 for general maintenance that goes to pool upkeep or a new sauna heater which I understand are needed. But then it goes to painting the weight room. Not needed. It doesn't go to getting new weight room equipment which hasn't been updated since the 1990s. Or apparently providing basic cleaning supplies for the restroom. Did I mention it's always 75 degrees in the cardio and weight rooms? I don't even keep my house that warm. Wait until summer when it's 85 degrees in there. There were two last straws which caused me to cancel my membership. The first was that the maintenance man always seemed to find himself in the women's restroom/locker room in the morning when I was working out. From time to time I use the restroom or wash my hands after using the equipment or holding the weights and there he'd be, lurking. The second straw was much more serious. One morning, when I was doing my laborious hip thrust set up, because we don't have any leg machines or hip thrusters, I was carrying one of the old fashioned weights from the 1990s era weight racks (which is sharp on its end) onto the Smith machine (also from the 1990s) and I nearly cut the tip of my finger off. Blood was pouring from my finger tip so I grabbed a tissue that I had in my pocket, gathered my things, and hurried up the steps and out of the gym. I was going to tell someone at the front desk on my way out that I was sorry, but they'd have to clean up my blood and sanitize the equipment. But as usual, no one was at the front desk. I can't take it anymore. I'm done and going to Anytime Fitness off Caughlin Parkway. That gym isn't fancy, but it's got updated equipment that feels safe and the restrooms seem pretty clean and private. And so far, I've been treated like they're happy I'm there. That's a big step up from the Caughlin Club.

Quality/Quantity - Got a new pair of running/walking shoes a few days ago at their other location. And believe it or not, they had another pair in my size at their Lakeside location! I did not buy it as I want to break the first pair in. I also saw the one I am replacing there, lol. If you are following, you already know I have been shopping for a new pair of Hoka shoes. And I finally found a place that had what I needed and wanted. They actually had my size! Thank you. I did not know Hoka also made slippers...? Might have to get one in the future also. My wife also got a pair of shoes the other day and put another pair on hold in this Sparks location. This location is smaller than the one we visited in South Reno, but larger than the Lakeside location, but still has a decent selection of high end good quality shoes for running and walking. Atmosphere - Clean and well organized. Obviously supports the running community, see all the pictures. Open 6 days a week from 10am to 5pm or 6pm. Closed Sundays. Water fountain station. Service - Only one person was working today. He did a great job with the two other ladies he was helping and helping my wife in between. And an amazingly hard worker. They are also willing to order for you if needed. And match prices if needed.. Price - $130. It pays to pay for quality. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1994 and 2021 with the new owners and with your 3 locations. It's so great to see small local businesses thrive. Support local!

I went in on 10/4/2023 with my mom and we were looking for good supportive shoes. My ortho doctor recommended coming here for said shoes. Leland and John were the ones in store today, so my mom and I each got a one on one experience. John helped me and he was super patient and listened to my requests and preferences for shoes. I ended up walking out with a pair of Brooks and Hokas, as I couldn't decided between the two which I liked better. My mom found a pair that she liked, but the Sparks store did not have her size. So Leland called the Reno location and placed her size on hold so we could go pick it up in person. Would definitely recommend Reno Running company and will continue to come back to them for solid shoes.
