Here are some things I noticed: The amount of marijuana smell that came from many units made us keep the windows closed, along with dogs barking and tenants fighting. I saw so much dog poo around the property it was gross. The breezeways often had trash, dog urine, and trash bag drippings that went uncleaned for weeks at a time. When a tenant leaves, the management would update various appliances, but leave the old appliances in the breezeways for days at a time. Against renters terms I saw people working on their cars in the carport area then leave the items there such as windshield wipers. The pool area was vandalized over the summer and closed for a while. The area near the Virginia Lake is pretty, but I would not recommend these apartments to anyone looking.

UPDATE (after seeing owner response): I haven't received any…read morecontact via phone or email from The View since this review yet the owner claims they attempted to contact me. I wanted to clear that up before someone gets gaslit into living here based on the owner's response to my experience. The cost of utilities I was charged here have still been the highest I've paid in utilities in all of the apartments I have lived in to date. I frequently called to make sure they weren't reading the wrong meter. We had moved out a month early and the utility bill remained as high as months when we did live a full month there. Also, I feel the way trash and sewer is divided amongst tenants is unfair. It was explained to me that trash and sewer was split equally amongst all of the units, this did not differ between one bedroom units and three bedroom units. So unfortunately if you are a two bedroom household you're still getting charged the same amount of trash as a family of four. I understand this is policy but I just want to warn others that their utilities will run high. As far as the fees I mentioned that are impossible to get out of. Although the fees are small the cost range depending on payment type, (ACH, Credit Card, Check) and all of them had a fee. I am personally one to try and avoid unnecessary fees and had emailed a leasing manger at the time of living there who told me that all of their payment options had fees. So if there was a free option, the leasing manager neglected to tell me and it was not an option in the booklet they provided at move in on how to pay rent. I was not given the option to walk the apartment before signing our lease but I understand how I should've asked. It should be policy to walk the unit before signing so future residents don't need to ask. My move in inspection form included many issues I had with the apartment including the scuffs, missing items, dents, etc. We did the inspection immediately upon move in. It wasn't until a week later when we fully moved that we found tampons behind the drawers of the bathroom cabinet, tampons and socks under and around the washer/dryer, bugs and crumbs on the top of the cabinets and in drawers. For the toilet concerns, I didn't know Reno was known for hard water which contributes to the mold growing in the toilet. I have never had a mold issue before or after moving into the apartment. I won't be blaming the hard water. I had to bleach clean the toilet at the end of every week to keep it from taking over the toilet. I understand you having your staffs back and admire that but I did indeed get yelled at by (I believe Michelle) when requesting a maintenance order for the black mold growing in my toilet. When I explained to her that I attempted to clean it with bleach but it continued to grow back she yelled at me that I should have never tried to fix the issue without consulting management first. Maybe we interpreted the conversation differently? After the conversation I stopped bleaching the toilet only for the maintenance guy to tell me that it was definitely black mold and to buy bleach tablets to fix it. What's the point in discussing the concerns if you're just going to lie and deny them? At the end of the day I would not recommend these apartments. The staff is not friendly and they do not care about your safety. Again, there are plenty friendlier, affordable, and cleanly apartments near UNR. Don't let these people take advantage of you or lie to you!

After moving out, my deposit was not refunded, and the reasons given did not seem reasonable or consistent with the condition in which I left the property. The apartment was not painted when I moved in but suddenly there are so many issues. They did a walk around prior to moving and said the apartment was in fine condition so why the discrepancy. There was also a Ongoing noise issue which was never addressed. People played loud music all night and no one did anything. I give them 0 star.

I spoke with management regarding being reimbursed the towing fees and they said they would not reimburse me. Even though I had not broken any rules regarding parking policy. I sued them in small claims court for the parking fees. They showed up in court to argue that they shouldn't have to pay me. The judge agreed with me and awarded me the towing fees plus court costs. They then started to tell the judge that they might appeal the decision. Eventually they paid me. There are three treadmills in the gym at Emory. I told them multiple times that one of the treadmills was malfunctioning. Every time I mentioned it, they acted like it was the first they had heard of it and said they would get right on it. Then it would never get fixed. I was telling them about this treadmill multiple times for over a year. Then one of the other treadmills started malfunctioning and I told them about this too and get the same treatment. I never heard any follow up on this and they were never fixed. They say they are luxury apartments but the common areas specifically hallways and especially stairwells are very dirty. There are always clumps of dog hair that keep accumulating. There was once an empty beer can in the stairwell for over two months before it was removed. Update after reply: My car being towed happened a while ago. However, the common areas being very dirty and the treadmills malfunctioning even after multiple notifications are recent issues. I moved out in December 2025 and they were both still ongoing issues at that time.

In addition I always feel safe even when walking my dog late at nights alone. The ladies in the office, Shawna Julissa and Maggie are always welcoming and ready with a smile - so much so that my little granddaughter LOVES to visit the office to just say 'hi' or grab one of the wonderful cookies they make every morning. There are a lot of elderly people that live here and I just see everyone (mostly) around them caring for and looking out for them including management and maintenance. Speaking of Maintenance - you could not find a better crew anywhere. I've had a couple of things I could not fix that turned to be crazy easy to fix but they are right there to help and never make you feel like you are putting them out. As a matter of fact anytime ANYTHING breaks or won't work (even like something as simple as a broken toy) my granddaughter says immediately "call Mr. Matt he can fix it". LOL. To be honest, is parking sometimes a challenge if you have more than one car, well yes it can be but people need to remember this is an apartment complex and not houses with driveways. While I am not naturally a complainer (there are some of those of course that want to complain about everything), I have found that when I do need to lodge a complaint or a concern the staff in the office (now) handle it with concern and professionalism and don't blow you off. Now can they fix every possible thing that humans do (remembering this is an apartment complex), no. But they do respect and do their best to maintain the best living conditions for every tenant. I constantly get harassed by neighbors. They treated like a 55 and over communities so heaven forbid you have children because they do not like having kids here they say that they like dogs, but they don't. I frequently put my trash out and they will consistently ignore my trash and not pick it up. I consistently get notes and complaints on the door. This place completely ruined my rental history now that I'm trying to find a different place to move, they have completely destroyed. My credibility as a renter and all I have done is done my best to be a good tenant and keep to ourselves. I've always paid rent on time. I've always paid utilities on time. I've always picked up my dog poop I've always been my very best to be cordial to other people but apparently when you're a single mom who has a five-year-old and a three-year-old with severe ADHD and on the spectrum, you will absolutely be hated in this Little what they wanna call community. It's absolutely terrible. Do not move here. I beg you do not move here. Now, they are interfering with the validity of my lease agreement to have a reasonably peaceful time living at The Alexander. It is a shame that management has not escalated this situation in any manner as I will be seeking legal counsel.. the fact that you pay $1600/mo to listen to shrieking children and disrespectful and disruptive adults on and off throughout the day when you are trying to work is absolutely unacceptable. Management has gone downhill and sending "please be quiet" general emails DOES NOTHING.
