    Brisket Plate

Nice little updated venue in St. Peter. Tons of natural light and a pretty solid atmosphere overall during lunch. Service was pretty good overall. Nothing real over the top, but nothing that came up short either. Food-wise, the burnt ends were not very good (overly hard and chewy) and had me a little worried about what might come next. The fish & chips was also not a great one as the fish was a bit soggy and way too fishy. Luckily, the brisket plate was a very solid dish. Tender meat, the cornbread was great, the beans were AMAZING, and their BBQ sauces all pretty solid. I'd say this is a 3.5 star review overall, but the brisket plate with the sides are worth it. Just be cautious about what else you order.

    Cobb salad with pulled chicken

AMAZING in every way! We were just stopping through on our way back south from Minneapolis. The ambience is casual but nice in a warm, sort of western way. The server was welcoming and had great suggestions. My husband, a Reuben enthusiast, had what he is calling The Best Reuben ever. The corned beef was smoked, which makes it extra good. I had the Cobb salad, which sounds kind of boring, but I added smoked pulled chicken and some of their homemade Bleu cheese dressing. It was so good. The best of all: those fresh cut and perfectly seasoned fries! We don't go that way often, but if we ever do, we will be building in a stop at Third Street Tavern for sure!

Lone Star Brisket sandwich is delish!

Lone Star Brisket sandwich is delish! The tender and smoky brisket is paired well with the sweetness from the caramelized onions. Hubby enjoyed his Beef & Cheese sandwich; he described it as a nice prime rib sandwich topped with queso. Make sure to try all of the BBQ sauces on the table, they're delicious too. Service was top notch. Abby took great care of us and it looked like she took care of everyone else in the restaurant and out on the patio too. She was so friendly, and made her job look so easy too. Ambiance was wonderful, from the curb appeal when we drove up, to the beautiful mixture of old and new throughout the restaurant. We would gladly come back again next time we're in town. Hopefully I remember to ask for seating in their beautiful patio next time.

Brisket platter with mac n cheese and au gratin potatoes

Was in St. Peter for work and a friend recommended this place, very good! I got the brisket platter with mac n cheese and au gratin potatoes plus a mocktail. Brisket was good but a little too fatty for me, but that is just personal preference. Mac n cheese was good, nothing special and I don't think I could order it for the entree but it was a good side. The star of the meal was the au gratin potatoes, these were so cheesy and delicious with a crispy top. Next time, I think I will get the potatoes and the corn bread as a side. Great place!

I was greeted as soon as I sat down at the bar! I ordered the buttermilk chicken sandwich and it did not disappoint! The fries are also delicious! This place is decorated in the best way! Great atmosphere!

This was easily the best meal we have had in a while. Every single thing we ate was fantastic. The bartender recommended the queso, which I would not have ordered, and it was great. I got the chicken sandwich with a side of mac and cheese and both were delicious. My husband got the burger and fries which were also amazing. I would give this place 100 stars!

The best fried pickles I've had. It's a spear wrapped like an eggroll, and it's an awesome twist on a basic app! Chicken Caesar wrap was super dry and bland. Bacon cheeseburger was good. Hand cut fries were good. Wings are very smoked, had I known I would've gotten something else; tasted like I liked a smoker not a fan. They were plump though and would've been bomb (unsmoked IMO). But you must try the fried pickles!!!

Second time we have been here. Love this place! Found it by accident, and will make a special trip to come back! Had the buttermilk chicken & Ruben sandwiches. They were both to die for! Cute restaurant, service was great. Easy place to bring family and kids! Our server Mandy was informative and super friendly.

Last week while driving past St. Peter it was lunchtime and Yelp brought me here. I'm always looking for good 'cue and while Minnesota doesn't have the reputation that say Texas or the rest of the South has for it I was game to give this place a try. I parked on the street where parking is free and walked across to the restaurant. Inside there is a host stand back by an American flag and I was seated immediately in the main dining room that also has the bar. There are other rooms available too for overflow and private parties. I had looked at their online menu before entering and thought about either the brisket or chicken and the printed menu was the same except it had the prices. I decided on the smoked chicken meal with beans and slaw as my two sides that come with it. $22. I kind of winced when I saw that price and their beef options on the menu like brisket and ribs were higher and expected of course. But $22 for a half a bird with two sides is on the very high end that I would expect to pay and this is a restaurant in a very small town in Minnesota. Oh well... While waiting for the meal about 15 minutes, I walked around the restaurant and decided that I liked the vibe here. It has an upscale feel to it and the decor gives it the sense of a cool place to visit for eating and socializing. When the food arrived I immediately noticed the chicken. It was a large half and the skin was kind of shriveled up on the meat which is an unusual look for smoked chicken. The skin was a little dry but no worries though because the chicken was still very good tastewise and yes I did notice the smoke. There was plenty of meat on the bone and their two sauces added to the enjoyment. One is regular and the other is spicy however to me the spicy version was very close to the regular one. A good rich taste with some sweetness. The beans were also rich and robust in flavor and the cole slaw was light and slightly creamy providing a good palate cleanser. My table service was barely average though as I was checked on just once and never had my ice tea glass refilled. When the bill arrived I expected the $22 for the entree but was surprised that my iced tea was $3.75. Again, on the high end of what it should cost. I enjoyed the meal but it was too expensive. I will give an overall score of 4 for the food but caution about the cost.

Overpriced, poorly prepared food. Loud, noisy, mediocre service at best. Cannot recommend this place.

My dinner was especially good....the chicken fried perfectly...all dark meat the way I like it. The potato salad was not what I expected but I was pleasantly surprised. I'm used to a mayo based potato salad but this was even better with lots of flavor! The corn was also delicious. Everyone was very happy with their dinners. The chicken and waffle dish was also good. Ratio of breading to chicken was perfect and perfectly seasoned. The honey butter that came with it was also delicious. The New Orleans shrimp bowl was great too. The ratio of shrimp, which was perfectly cooked, to rice was good. Lots of great flavor. I think that everyone in our party enjoyed what they ordered. The only "ding" would be the service. We had to ask for silverware so we could eat and had to wait for straws because she forgot. I'm still going to give it 5 stars even though the service was lacking a bit. She was very nice but seemed rushed.

Parking is a challenge. The restaurant's parking lot is much too small for a restaurant of this size, and because it's backed up against hotels, finding a spot meant parking farther away. I ordered the Carolina Summer Risotto (GF) for $21.95 because I love a good risotto, and with very limited gluten-free options, this seemed like the best choice. The menu describes it as saffron risotto with Cajun shrimp, tomato, asparagus, zucchini, squash, arugula, and lemon. What I received was a very small scoop--maybe 1/2 cup--of what tasted more like yellow, sticky rice with shrimp. There was no asparagus at all, and only a couple of small pieces of zucchini and squash cut into tiny chunks. It looked nothing like the photo on the menu. For nearly $22, I expected a much more substantial portion--not something that looked like a food-truck serving in a paper cup from the fair. My daughter ordered the 6-piece chicken strips with fries for $17, and thankfully, those were much better and very generous in portions. The chicken was very moist and, in her opinion, worth the price. The atmosphere was another issue. It was extremely loud, almost to the point where it was difficult to hear the person sitting across from you--even though the restaurant wasn't full. The waitstaff was friendly, which I appreciated, but unfortunately, the 'okay' entree food, portion size, noise level, and parking issues outweighed the positives.

We had reservations and were seated immediately. I chose the spare ribs for my dinner and Husband had the pulled pork sandwich. The ribs were served with a zesty dry rub and sauce on the side. The atmosphere was sunny with no chances of rain and I loved every minute of it. Sundays are for brunch and I went with a hungry stomach. Took my seat around 1115a and started ordering. First up was my drink Prosecco with a side of Elderflower liqueur because there was no St. Germain. Close to the flavor tho! It was actually quite yummy as well. Then I placed my ordered... I went with the HOG BREAKFAST PARTY which contains 2 Eggs, Greens, Bacon or Sausage, Roadside Potatoes, Biscuit. I loved the roadside potatoes, and I opted for sausage was equally good. The green I would suggest a little more umph in it and the eggs were standard. Overall a decent 3 out of 5 meal. I would like to go back and try the regular menu. Remember I said I sat around 1115a, it was long until 1210p that I noticed my food hasn't arrived. Spoke with our waiter who was apologetic and on the hunt to see what's going on. It was in this moment that I realized this business takes their customers seriously. The waiter returned to advise the kitchen was running behind, but his manager would be out to speak with us. Upon arrival the manager advised he had some research and noticed we had been waiting a very long time. By this time food arrived at 1227P. He informed us that the bill was taken care of and gave a gift card for the inconvenience. We assured him that taking care of the bill was enough but he insisted we take the gift card as well. That's amazing customer service. Thank you to the manager and waiter for such excellent care.
