RESTAURANT REVIEW: 3 Seventeen Happy Hour Friday Let me start by saying this: the food is absolutely delicious. That's the reason this review still earns 4 stars despite some very noticeable issues that management should address. First things first, 3 Seventeen needs to advertise that they have TWO Happy Hour menus. We specifically called beforehand to ask about Happy Hour offerings, and at no point were we informed that reservations are practically required. As potential new and returning customers, that information would have been extremely helpful. When we arrived, every table was reserved. Every. Single. One. We ended up sitting separately at the bar until a very kind hostess noticed the situation and was able to move us to a table together off to the side of the bar area. Shoutout to her because she saved the experience before it even started. The Drinks After ordering our food and cocktails, our margaritas arrived. I looked down and immediately thought someone had brought me a cup of lemonade. Why? Because the margarita was served in a plastic cup. Naturally, I asked why. I was told that after a certain time, all drinks are served in plastic cups because customers frequently break the glassware. Now I understand wanting to protect inventory, but here's the problem: 3 Seventeen is a beautiful venue. The décor and aesthetics create an upscale vibe, yet the drink presentation completely works against that image. A handcrafted margarita loses some of its magic when served in the same cup used at a family barbecue. Adding to that, I noticed the shelves behind the bar were completely bare of glassware. Then there was another issue that management should seriously consider addressing. The walkway from the bar toward the rear of the building exposes the area where hookahs are assembled and supplies are stored in plastic bins. From a customer's view, it looked cluttered and somewhat unsanitary. A decorative partition or curtain would make a huge difference. Presentation matters, and once customers start questioning what they're seeing, they start questioning other things too. Honestly, it almost made me lose my appetite. The Food Thankfully, the food arrived... and that's when things got MUCH better. Spinach Dip & Homemade Chips Creamy, flavorful, and paired with fresh homemade chips. Every bite was warm, cheesy, and satisfying. Spinach Dip with Shrimp This version takes things to another level. The juicy shrimp on top added extra flavor and made an already good appetizer even better. Fried Shrimp The shrimp were HUGE. Well... most of them. One shrimp looked like the little cousin trying to sneak into the family photo. I wasn't sure if they ran out of the jumbo shrimp or if one simply wandered into the wrong basket, but it definitely stood out. Loaded Fries The loaded fries are made with steak fries. If you're not a fan of thick-cut fries, keep that in mind before ordering. They were loaded and filling, but definitely potato-forward. Catfish Nuggets Now let me give everyone a pro tip: Order the catfish nuggets and dip them in the Hot Honey Sauce. Trust me. That combination is a COMPLETE game changer. The sweet heat from the sauce mixed with the crispy catfish created one of the best bites of the entire evening. The Birthday Celebrations Now... let's discuss the elephant in the room. The birthday celebrations need a complete overhaul. At one point, there were FIVE birthdays happening at the same time. The staff, who were already stretched thin, were literally running from table to table singing "Happy Birthday" and delivering bottles of champagne. ‍‍ It looked chaotic. Customers were confused. Employees looked exhausted. The entire process felt disorganized and distracting. To be completely honest, it was one of the most ridiculous and chaotic birthday processes I've seen at a restaurant. The staff did their best, but the system simply isn't working. Final Thoughts What makes this review difficult is that the employees were genuinely wonderful. Everyone was friendly. Everyone was trying. Everyone appeared to care. The real issue isn't the staff. The issue is that the operational systems have not caught up with the vision of the establishment. The owner has clearly invested a lot into making 3 Seventeen visually beautiful. The space is gorgeous. However, the service flow, staffing levels, reservation communication, drink presentation, birthday procedures, and overall customer experience need attention. The good news? These are fixable problems. Because the hardest thing to fix is usually the food... and fortunately, the food is fantastic. Nothing about this experience was good! 5/5/2026 For starters, i had a reservation and still waited a while to be seated, upon being put at a table and asked to push tables together myself to accommodate my group size, the table was being sprayed and half cleaned while we were standing at the table. After being seated at 8:40 . I continuously tapped or motion for a waiter at other tables to ask who our waiter was so we can order and was told "she's coming " by 9:40 . I literally went to the bar looking for a manager and got the owner. To ask why no one had been at our table yet after waiting an hour. The owner basically did nothing but say the waiter was coming. 20 mins later the waiter finally comes . We ordered hookah, drinks, seafood. Which another 45 mins went by before food finally started to come out ( mind you the hookah never came out) it was told to us that the crawfish would include (corn,potatoe and sausage) then once it came out w/o it then it became " its extra" . The crawfish was horrible. Tasted like mud water. I ate one and was over the whole experience.mind you nobody else at the tables food was out either. We were in this resturant 3hrs and didn't eat or anything. SMH . Several tables got up and left w/o being served. No service recovery , no apologies no nothing was offered. Came here for a Friday Happy Hour and left disappointed. I had heard good things about the lamb chops, but honestly, they didn't live up to the hype; there was more fat than meat, and I've had much better elsewhere. We were a group of five, and three of the ladies ordered the Southwest Chicken Eggrolls. Two of the orders came out fine, but the third took an absurdly long time to arrive. I ordered the Blackened Mississippi Catfish Dinner, and my food didn't come out until almost everyone else was done eating. While the catfish itself was cooked well, the long wait and inattentive service really took away from the experience. On top of that, I had to ask the waiter three separate times for a water refill. There's simply no excuse for this type of service, especially since we got there at 5:30pm and the restaurant was practically empty. The waiter spent most of the time laughing and chatting with ladies at the other table, while completely neglecting ours. I was also frustrated by the Happy Hour drinks: certain drinks were offered at a lower price, but we were told they're made with cheap liquor unless you pay extra for the "good stuff." Honestly, who wants the cheap stuff that will give you a headache? One of the ladies in our group ordered the Skittles drink, and it was too sweet to even drink. This was my second time visiting 3Seventeen, and unfortunately my experience didn't match the first. My first visit was amazing, so I came back expecting the same energy. My husband and I went on a Friday night during happy hour and tried to order the advertised $5 oxtail sliders from the flyer. That's when things went left. We were told the sliders were actually $5 each and that we had to order a minimum of three, even though none of that was written on the flyer. I asked for a manager to explain, and instead of clarity, she came over with attitude and a level-10 energy. She told me they "can't put all those details on the flyer." After going back and forth, she finally offered me one slider for $5 -- which I accepted -- but the disappointment continued. It didn't taste like oxtail at all; it was more like a chopped beef BBQ slider. We ordered the Philly cheesesteak egg rolls, and they were so cold the cheese had already hardened. My husband got the fried chicken and mac and cheese, which were actually good. We also ordered drinks, but none of the happy hour options catered to dark-liquor lovers, so we had to choose from the regular menu. The hookah was harsh, barely pullable even after changing the coal. And on top of all that, they charge 18% gratuity automatically and an additional fee just for using a card. So for one appetizer, one $5 slider, two drinks, hookah, and one entry fee -- what should've been around $100 ended up being $175. 3Seventeen is in the old En Vain suite. It's a lounge and bar that is nicely decorated with a chill vibe. Dimmed lights, DJ on point, and hot fresh food options. Our server made sure that we were cool throughout the night and did not miss a beat on refills of water. Water is important. They also offered the hookah setups 3Seventeen will have brunch on Saturday and Sundays so I am going back to explore those options. The dinner options were most definitely a hit. Presentation, freshness and seasoned well how it should be. I am glad that they did not have the music blasting you out of your seats. You can still enjoy a good conversation with the person next to you without screaming while eating the delicious food. Parking is shared with our places in the parking lot however depending on when you arrive those places maybe closed. There is parking at the back of the building that looks a tad bit scary but there is a security officer roaming the parking lot. They are new and seem to working through some kinks so I can't wait to return to see how they grow. This is NOT a paid advertisement nor was I asked to come visit by the owners. I booked a section for my birthday, it was my first time there. The atmosphere was everything! Chill, grown, clean, laid back spot. Server was so sweet and constantly checking on us. The food was SO GOOD. We ordered a few things and nothing was a disappointment. The vibe is chill but lit, grown but not boring, come jazzy or from work. They want you to enjoy yourself. The decor can make great date night, photo ops, but not so overly romantic that you'd feel awkward rolling there 1 deep or to chill with your crew. I've noticed the age range is wide, but one thing everybody has in common: let's have fun! No childishness. 1 night I was there & it turned into a random karaoke party. The bar makes good drinks & you get your money's worth. All the staff is nice but Zay & Zaria are my faves. If you're not sure of what you're in the mood for, ask & they'll make great suggestions and cocktails. Now let's talk about the food.... yesss! This is where so many places miss the mark. But I've had a good chunk of the menu & never had a complaint. Tacos, wings, fish, pasta, and others. Yesterday's visit they had a deal for crawfish & wings. Went for the crawfish special, a party of one. Sat down and the table was pushed up against me. I could barely sit in the booth. Not sure if the booth is for a child or someone that weights 95lbs. The crawfish were very small and no way did I get the 5 lbs I paid for. There was about 1.5 of water in the bottom of the tray. They only offer bottled water. My bill was $41 for $2.99 x5. =$14.95 plus one margarita which was $12.00 and one bottle of water. The math just wasn't mathing. Ill start off by saying the food itself is really good but there are MULTIPLE things that make the experience almost not worth the good food. its dark in here, the music is entirely too loud, our waiter is inconsistent, the time management is terrible and the biggest problem we sat down and werent greeted for at least 20 minutes then when we ordered drinks and they didnt come for another 30 minutes and she forgot a drink so another person had to wait 15 extra minutes. We also ordered appetizers at the same time as the drinks been waiting at least an hour and a half for an appetizer and they brought out only one appetizer. And when the waiter dropped it off she didnt ask if we needed anything or give any refills. AND i personally think the prices are outrageous and they dont match the service. The property the building sat on was overgrown with weeds, the buildings paint was unkempt. Zero cars were in the parking lot.
