We hired 2 Bros to load a storage trailer getting hauled to California…read more The good: - easy to communicate with over Yelp - brought straps (that we could buy off them) to secure the contents in the trailer - saved us $$ by packing the trailer tightly (2 feet less space than expected) The not great: - they wrapped only one piece of our couch in saran wrap, which protected the piece, but our other couch sections and bed were dirty from the inside of the trailer - CA side, many of our boxes marked as "fragile" were slightly caved in because there were many levels of boxes loaded on top of them. I'm thankful that nothing is broken, but it was tense seeing so many boxes with bent sides on the other end of the move

I called the day before we needed to move it, and got lucky that they had a cancelation and could squeeze us in with 1 days notice. The unit was heavy and awkward and had to go down some steep stairs into a basement. The movers handled the job professionally and got the machine into the basement with no damage to the machine, the house, or themselves. That was quite an accomplishment!!! If I had one concern about All My Sons it's their failure to clearly communicate pricing and liability limitations. I was told that their minimum charge is 2 hours. It's actually 2 hours plus travel time. And, I wasn't told that their liability limitation is 60 cents per pound. That would have come out to $240 for a $1500 appliance -- definitely not enough to replace the appliance if something had happened. I might not have hired All My Sons if I'd seen this. We got lucky.

All the other companies had receptionists or things to fill out which were very impersonal. I personally like supporting small businesses so chose Smooth Move because the owner was so involved. I didn't know you could also hire them to pack items into a UHaul for a long distance move to avoid the big trucking company costs plus you can hire them to move things around your house. My move took longer than expected as I had more to move than expected but the guys were there every step of the way being communicative and making it the most pleasant experience possible given moving is quite unpleasant. Give them a try!
