The meats had very little flavor. The turkey was clearly reheated based on taste. I paid extra for the corn which sounded really good but was really just frozen microwaved corn. The cole slaw was decent and no potato salad on the menu? They advertise beer and drink specials but there is no bartender and any alcohol offered is just an afterthought. I hate writing negative reviews, especially because 4 Rivers used to be one of my favorite barbecue restaurants. Unfortunately, my recent visit to the Daytona Beach location was extremely disappointing. The burnt ends appeared to have been sitting on the hot table for far too long. They were overly greasy, lacked any bark or texture, and tasted like they had been reheated rather than freshly prepared. The brisket was even more disappointing. It was dry, overcooked, and clearly not up to the standard that 4 Rivers built its reputation on. What concerned me most was that the carver could plainly see the quality of the meat but served it anyway. Quality control should start at the carving station. If your staff believes this is acceptable barbecue, then either management needs to reassess its quality standards or the staff needs additional training. The barbecue sauces were mediocre at best and didn't make up for the poor quality of the meat. Even the pulled pork was average--honestly, no better than what I can make at home. The one bright spot of the meal was the cornbread, which was fresh, moist, and delicious. To make matters worse, every member of our party experienced stomach issues shortly after eating. While I can't say with certainty what caused it, it certainly added to an already disappointing experience. I have already spoken with the management team and am currently awaiting their response. I genuinely hope they take this feedback seriously because 4 Rivers was once known for serving some of the best barbecue in Florida. I also ordered two orders of fries. Unfortunately, this experience reminded me why I usually prefer to pick up my food instead of ordering delivery, though to be clear, this wasn't Uber Eats' fault. The Vegan Burnt Ends arrived ice cold, like they had been sitting out for a long time before the order went out. And the fries were clearly old, probably fried twice, and just not fresh at all. The only reason the fries were hot is probably because they threw them in last minute -- you could tell the food was just rushed and not made with any care. It's frustrating to receive cold and low-quality food, especially when you're looking forward to trying a vegan BBQ option that's hard to come by. Will I be back? Probably not. Inconsistent quality of food: I have never eaten at this location, but I have ordered from here many times on Uber eats. And here is what I have learned in my experience over the past 5 or 6 months. First of all, if you are going to order delivery, don't order after about 4 pm. On more than one occasion I have received old food when ordering later in the day. This last experience was the absolute worst. I ordered their 3 meat combo which comes with 2 sides. It came with brisket, burnt ends, smoked sausage, fried okra and coleslaw. The best part of the meal was the coleslaw. The brisket was barely a slice and it was quite dry and over cooked. The burnt ends were also dry and tasted like they had been under a heat lamp all day. The sausage was a half slice of sausage split down the middle. And what made it worse is they put it all on three rolls like a sandwich. It had never come like that before. I have ordered this combination more than a few times and the portions are usually decent, even if sometime the food is not up to par. This time the portions were absolutely not worth a fraction of what was paid and the quality was also quite bad. To add insult to injury, everything came cold. Yes cold, not even warm. Even the fried okra was cold and was so old you could tell it had been sitting somewhere for a really long time, probably under a heat lamp or in a corner before they sent it. Cold BBQ is the last thing I expected. Cold and small portions was unacceptable. So whomever was working on 12/18/2023 after 4pm and sent out the Uber Eats order. You should evaluate if this is something you want to do long term. Because you just lost a customer by sending out sub par, cold and absolutely terrible food. I thought the chicken was excellent, but the turkey was DRY as hell and could barely taste the smokiness of it. The fries and mac was pretty standard, the mac specifically tasted identical to golden corral mac n cheese. My friend got the Angus brisket and smoked sausage with cornbread and mac n cheese. He thought the brisket was really good, but one of the pieces was like over 50% fat. He also liked the smoked sausage and mac n cheese. I was looking forward to picking my baby back ribs from 4 Rivers all week. I sat down at my table at home, and was very disappointed. The ribs were not thoroughly cooked. I had to put them back in the oven for another 35 minutes, on 300 degrees. And partly because they were not cooked fully, I had to use a steak knife to cut them apart. So again, very disappointed. Even after cooking them more, I still had to use a knife. Not the tender pull of the bone I am use to. I've visited 4 Rivers often since they opened their doors in Winter Park years ago and have eaten at many of their locations. I believe they offer the best BBQ and sides in FL and in fact I've used them for catering business functions several times. That said, my visit to the Daytona locations was a real disappointment and not up to the standards set by John Rivers and his team. No taste in the sides, stale desserts and the cashier was clueless. Also, not sure why, but the restaurant was virtually empty for a Saturday night at 6:30 pm. Given that 4 Rivers is the most expensive BBQ, I doubt I'll visit the Daytona location again. read more

I heard that the food was good, and it was. The brisket was tender and quite nice, while the sides were ok, but forget the "blueberry BBQ sauce". It was not inexpensive, the portion sizes were andequate for me, but my companion felt they were skimpy, the atmosphere was cafeteria style with uncomfortable chairs, find your own condiments, plastic flatware and paper napkins. I guess they were going for a picnic atmosphere. I ordered their version of a meal, but was charged a la carte; told the cashier and was ignored. it only made a couple dollars difference, but it irritated me. Get ready for some melt in your mouth brisket! The first time we went in, we got some of the regular brisket and some of the lean brisket. I'm not interested in lean anymore. It just wasn't as juicy as the regular stuff and you can always cut the fat off the end. Oh the regular barbecue sauce is heavenly. For the 2 sides, the green beans which by the way are freshly snapped and cut daily then slowly cooked all day. Really great taste. And no, there is no smoke flavor added into the beef brisket. When it comes to service there's really not service You go to the counter you place your order you slide down the counter you pay for your food they hand you your food and you carry it to the table yourself. I think this is fine for certain types of restaurants but for a full scale barbecue restaurant where a sandwich and sides is 16 plus dollars I really would have enjoyed service going out to eat and dropping that kind of money. That being said The food was really really good The cream sweet potatoes were great The beans were loaded with meat and very flavorful The french fries were good The kids chicken tenders very flavorful nice breading the barbecue quesadilla was good Probably could have used a little bit more sauce but you can always add that at the table. I had the messy pig which is a heaping pile of pulled pork between two layers of southern coleslaw top of pickles jalapenos served on a brioche bun it was really really good if you check out my pictures I got a great picture of it very filling very flavorful the pulled pork was amazing coleslaw was good very filling. Have to say the only thing that I thought was disappointing was the salted caramel brownie I was going to get just a brownie salted caramel brownie was beautiful looked great The problem was it had a thick layer of coconut that you couldn't see to have it into it I hate coconut Don't know why you would put coconut in salted caramel and chocolate but the other desserts look great. This was my first visit to this 4R location I only experienced one other location and that experience wasn't a visit I ever wanted to repeat, it's one of the reasons I avoided this location until now. A few friends tried this place and after a reading a few reviews from my fellow yelpers I felt compelled to come here since I absolutely love good bbq. The restaurant is easily accessible within the Daytona One complex, the corner location is close to lots of parking options and it's still free, this may or may not be the case during major events. Although there are several doors as you walk from the parking lots most are emergency exits and the only entrances are through through patio or the main entrance which is located on the business side of the building facing the street. If there are any negatives for me it's the cafeteria style ordering, although most of the meats are sliced to order some aren't and share the steam table with the sides. We ordered fatty brisket, smoked turkey, and pulled pork I admit all were delicious although I felt the portions were a little lite. I think the smoked turkey was the winner in this trio. We also tried the baked beans, green beans, coleslaw and fried okra with a side of ranch, they all met our expectations but the all-star was definitely the fried okra, the cornmeal breading was outstanding it reminded my of the okra my mom prepared all my life, my dad ran a truck farm and has grown literally thousands of bushels of okra, this side is legit. The restaurant is beautiful and spacious and today it appeared super clean and the staff was exceptional, friendly, professional and accommodating.
